  3. G’day raiders, Firstly, happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there! Well, the family was kind to me this morning and after waking up late (6:30am haha) I had an amazing breakfast fit for a king and a nice coffee too! Then they broke out the Father’s Day gifts and low and behold there was some fishing gear!!! (I might have circled the catalog and added weights, line class etc) Anyway, I rigged them up and had a bit of a play with the gear. The weather up here has been shocking and today is no different so I didn’t think I get to use them today. But I checked the tide, the rain died off and thought bugger it. So me and no2 went to find a spot to hide from the wind. First spot no good, so we decided to walk about. 2nd and 3rd spot the same. Tried for one more spot when the boy goes I think we are tangled. So I wind in vigorously and bang I loaded up to a nice tailor. For the next hour we absolutely poled them in with many double hook ups and a good laugh to go with it! I also got one up on the boy winning 11-9. Then the dolphins showed up and with that went the bite. Back home now and a beer with lunch doesn’t get much better than that. Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Fantastic John. Isn’t it great when your children come of age especially through their teen years and work hard to achieve their goals. It’s rewarding for them and yourself as a parent to see them do something worthwhile with their time! Smiles all round ? cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Stop it!!! It makes my spaghetti on toast very below par! ?
  6. Great stuff Anthony! 120m of water is certainly hard work! But you got your rewards! If that fish your holding is the one in the sink, then yes you definitely need improve your fish holding technique! Haha ? Well done cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Nice work Sam! At least someone is out there fishing! Very envious! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. I agree some people do lack grey matter! But I still stand by my statement, especially here and further up the north coast! However, yes a family sedan is more than capable of towing/launching/retrieving on most ramps. I just prefer to lean on the side of caution! There’s some great advice on this thread, keep em coming! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Just my opinion, towing of any boat should be an AWD minimum! Especially when travelling to different locations and ramps. Seen too many people caught out using a family sedan. Just a thought! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Agh, the sea change! Puts a smile on anyone’s face! And by the looks of that haul, you’ll be smiling a long time! That kingy head is massive. It would have been a monster! Keep the reports coming! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. That’s not the case! We are quite happy for you to recommend brands of rods and reels. Just not tackle stores other than site sponsors! Dinga has very competitive rates and a further fishraider discount! Regards scratchie mod team
  12. Looks like you did a great job! Well done ? cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Great report Phil. Such an amazing place and a great variety of fish. Have to agree with the table quality of Spanish mackerel. Right up the top on my books too! ? cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Nice looking shirts! It will be good to see a few of our community out there wearing them! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Thanks PT. We have enough random ones up here as it is! Don’t need any more! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Sure mate. Stay at Halifax camping grounds and launch at little beach! Your about 2km from the heads there! And it’s 14 km to Broughton Island
  17. Why would you put yourself through that pain? ? They go hard enough on conventional gear! Well done ? cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Wasn’t that easy rick! Water was super clear with vis at 15m on some areas. Had to move around to find them!
  19. Haha, not with my kids mate. They’ve been brought up with rod in hand. So every man for themselves!
  20. Haha, he’s broken enough in the last few weeks! I wouldn’t trust him on the net!
  21. Thanks! Water was super clear and 17.4
  22. Yeah, stale bread, bits of fish! Anything really. Whilst berley can be important, it’s more important to be in the right spot!!!
  23. I use cat food for berley almost every time!
  24. Great report Jim. Had a good day on the water, picked up a feed and home by lunch. Perfect ? Those whales, whilst majestic they are, they can certainly create some anxiety when they’re that close to the boat! Cheers scratchie!!!
