  1. As far as I’m aware the ban is lifted at midnight on 7/2. Plenty of kings and reds up Broughton though! Good luck and enjoy!
  2. That’s rubbish. There’s always been a local school of kings that visit the breakwall daily. It would have been them just passing through!
  3. Nice work peter! Keep preserving with the sp’s. It’s a very active way to fish with less bycatch and less smelly! Good feed there! cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Ouch on the phone but other than that, sounds like it was a good session! My son dropped my iPhone overboard at Broughton Island one time. Lucky he’s a good swimmer because it’s a long way from home! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Agh, you still got it Mr Groper! I think you need a little less work and a bit more play! Enjoy! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. I took my beak gear with me today but weather didn’t play ball. Reds were still biting in the middle of the day! Water temp at best was 23.2 and good colour!
  7. Agh, my reds rick! Your local is central coast??? Haha! Your spot not good for anchor but plenty of slimies there! Had to use my 6th go to spot today!
  8. I work my coit off but sacrifice sleep for fishing! Not all of us are old, sorry retired yowie!!!
  9. Great day out Woodsey!!! It was a bit hairy going through the heads this morning but it settled down enough to bag a feed. A lot of wind against current and swell made it hard to find a good area. But once we did there were a few screaming reels and a few expletives when my FC rock leader kept breaking on good fish. Will never use again! It was great to see your smile as you poled fish after fish! Although, that smile did deminish on the way home with motor troubles. Hope it’s not to bad mate! Good to catch up again champ and we’ll be back out there soon! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. That’s gold! Glad you had your stradic just incase! cheers scratchie!!!
  11. I wouldn’t bet on that! It is their natural instinct as a pedatory fish to hunt food. Whether it’s pellets, pillies or live bait, they’ll smack it!
  12. Thanks mate! But to be honest, I had a blast fishing with my kids and something we’ll be talking about for years to come! I was more happy with my bag of snapper but that never got a mention!
  13. No mate, but I can be ready to go by 11am! ?
  14. I’m going out on Monday for a solo marlin fish at this stage! I might drive up through the pens and say hi! Haha
  15. If they are schooled, start your motor with lures behind you and accelerate off and on! This can instigate them feeding!
  16. I was supposed to do the interview but I have a head for radio! Ive also interviewed for- the herald, the Newcastle Herald, Prime news, the Australian and I’m well and truly over it and want to go fishing!
  17. Fish 1 is not a yakka. Fish 2 is definately a blind shark!
  18. Rick is spot on! A lot of these fish have been recaptured and they are working around the clock to fix, retrieve and restore their business! There is also a closure in process!
  19. Haha, I might just appear in that article somewhere! Quote, video etc! Fishraiders are everywhere! ?
  20. Hey mate, Well, where to start..... probably not the most productive weekend for fishing the bay imo. We’ve had a lot of fishing pressure over the past 6 weeks. With the big tides the jew won’t be as previlant but maybe a chance at the wreck on a slack tide. If your looking for a reel screamer, trolling a livie at the breakwall your best bet, early morning or late arvo when there is low boat traffic. I’m hoping the flatty return and usually a few sps with a high tide in the arvo, flicking around any beaches on the eastern side of the bay is worth a shot! Whiting are in plague proportions and a nipper with a longshank hook a winner! Hope that helps! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Haha Rich, if there’s something to do with fishing, there’s a fishraider there somewhere!
  22. Very lumpy out there Baz. I don’t think it will settle down until late Sunday and hopefully Monday when I’m off work! ?
  23. Sorry, when I say modified I meant they didn’t breed on their own! Trust me, when you gut one of these fish you’ll see a lot of differences! Their internal structures aren’t the same!
  24. Majority will still be there! They would stick to the structure. I’ve been informed they are working around the clock to repair and recapture. The one question I’ve posed that has not been answered is: “because they are genetically modified from the DNA of the local kingfish populations, have they been modified to still breed???” This has not yet been answered!
