  1. I had the same thing happen to me with the king. Brought up the trevally and a rat king tried to come eat it and the trevally was 40cm. But great haul you have there. Cheers Ethan
  2. Yeah the fishing hasn't been that good lately and the weed is out of control at the moment. At least you gave it a crack. Cheers Ethan
  3. Thanks and yes we have all the required equipment. Thanks for the help guys
  4. And also we don't have a gps on the boat yet. Are there any apps that I can get that will show my exact location to get to the fad??
  5. Thanks for that guys really appreciate it
  6. Hi all, Going to be sleeping on the boat tomorrow night and fishing both tomorrow and Wednesday. As the swell is so calm we were thinking of going past the heads or maybe to the fads. We have a barcrusher 550c so it can handle it. How far is it to get to the nearest fad off sydney heads and which direction?? And also does it get calmer as you past the heads?? Because we have been to the heads where it is quite rough and others are outside where it is as flat as a tack. All help will be appreciated. Cheers Ethan
  7. I'm pretty sure it's salt up to there, obviously not as salty as the ocean. There might be bass upstream but not 100% sure
  8. The rod actually cats light lures quite far actually surprised how far it casts, great rod love it to bits we'll worth the money. And yeah the have a really good action on them love them.
  9. Yeah thanks would have photos but didn't want to risk the phone going in the drink
  10. Hi all, Just got up to the relatives house right on the water at Dora creek. Went out in the morning on the kayak caught five bream all under legal on the berkley scum dog in yellow and orange colour. Went out around lunch in the yak again only caught one on the same lure. Then at around 4:30ish the water was alive with fish jumping out, same later they were all mullet couldn't get any after trying for 30mins then just went for bream in the snags again. I was getting a lot of hits but not hooking up, then I made a long cast along the bank twitch twitch was hit missed it let it pause had another go missed again then another one then finally it hit it then it went straight back where it came from really hard and I knew this was a good fish. After the fish went in every snag possible and untangling under logs and trees I finally got it in the net. Then I had a good look and it would have been close to 30cm which is unusual for Dora creek. After unhooking it which wreck both hooks it was released unharmed and same off strong. What away to start he holidays and to land nice fish in my new combo. (Daiwa generation black 2 drunkmonkies and shimano stradic ci4 1000) the bream pull hard on 3lb braid and 4lb leader haha. Going out in the lake tomorrow and will let you know how I go. Cheers Ethan
  11. Thanks mate and the wind has died down here at Leonay a lot already hope it goes down even more
  12. Thanks for that, we were most likely going there anyway haha. Just hope the wind isn't to bad later today
  13. Wouldn't that be one of the worst places to fish because of the big swells??
  14. Yeah the only spot we can access is Yarra bay. Has anyone fished there before?? How did you go?? Cheers Ethan
  15. Are there any good spots on the northern side of the bay?? It's a tad to far to go to kurnell or even Brighton le sands
  16. Thanks for that and is that near towra?? I have heard that's good spot but don't exactly know where it is
  17. Hi all, Going to botany on Sunday for a fish but can't take the boat. I was wondering where are some good landbased spots at botany?? I will be using zman lures than I got the other day to see if there any good. Any help would be appreciated Cheers Ethan
  18. I have heard that the tld reels have actually blown, the trynos would be my pick
  19. Yeah same with bendalong get them very big be pretty close to that size but I don't think it would be as big. There quite friendly and get hand feed to and get pat by people
  20. The generation black have gone up to $170 no that daiwa realised that there are really popular and selling so many they put up the price on them.
  21. If it's just for offshore I would go 5m minimum. You can get out in smaller just in better days. I have a 550c barcrusher and it still feels uncomfortable going towards the heads.
  22. I have the shimano raider 1-4kg 722 rod and there great rods love them to bit the cork grips are very comfortable Cheers Ethan
  23. Also have a look at the daiwa gear aswell. The generation blacks are really good rods and they quite cheap aswell at around $150 and for the reel you can get the daiwa sol ll for around $290 aswell. For shimano I would go the sustain then the stradics and for rod have a look at the lox rods aswell great rod for the money. Happy shopping Cheers Ethan
  24. There are a lot of things I like about fishraider- the generous people on here giving help and tips to people who they don't even know, the various number of articles to help anglers get their dream fish but last of all sworfisherman and msswordfisherman running and starting this great site. Without them this wouldn't exist. THank you for all your hard work going into this site much appreciated. Cheers Ethan
