  1. Hey guys its been a while since I have been out so I'm planning on going out on the weekend. I have never fished port hacking before and I was just wandering is it worth going there? What fish species are there ATM? I have a 4m tinnie so I could pretty much go anywhere. Any thoughts or ideas please comment. Cheers ethan
  2. Hey mate I'm fishing down at bendalong and its them or jackets just cutting off people's line. Another person lost over 500 yards of line to them. Yeah since I change to mono the haven't been as bad unlike my dad using orange braid just getting cut off. My opinion go to mono or green braid.
  3. Hey mate I'm down there now pack lots of extra gear because of the jackets. I'm in bendalong and the samon are everywhere and so are the jackets.
  4. Hi mate I'm just a little south of jb I'm at bendalong and at the moment all that you can get is jackets there everywhere in plague proportion and whenever you put down a line it gets bitten off even with a wire trace with a long shank it's just crazy. But down here the samon are on fire they are everywhere as well but other that that a few nice snapper a few rock cod and Sargent backers. Hope you get something Cheers, Ethan
  5. From what I have seen I don't chase them they just cut the line so the fish isn't hurt.
  6. Hey everyone I might be going fishing Sunday morning in the hawkesbury. The last time I was there it was about a year ago when I was getting pretty good catches. I was just wandering how is it going and what species are on the bite and if you don't mine a few spots. Cheers ethan
  7. Yeah they have around the 5.0 squid jigs not to sure about six though. Bass angler in batt street penrith
  8. Mate it's about wat u prefer I prefer the sit on cause u have more room, more easily to reach things and cast. That's my opinion I like the sit one.
  9. I was using a size 1/8th jig head, the packet says the brand is advanced plastics and has Japanese writing on it I got it when my grandad passed away I took most of his stuff and used it to good use and the plastic had black rectangle top, blue with glitter on e sides and two tails for action. But wat ever plastic we casted out atthhem they crunched them.
  10. I know but I couldn't because I was having so much fun hah
  11. No worries it was so fun while my dad had a 6-10kg rod with 20pound line, he told me to go heavier and I said no light gear better fight hahah
  12. Thanks for the advice I will probs go for aluminium cause its easier to tow and I can move it easier
  13. Hi all went fishing today with a last minute decision to go. Got to drummoyne boat ramp at 2 ish in the arvo. Our targete species was anything that will take pilchards lol. Our first spot was about 250m east of woolwich anchored off in between some boats was there for for about 45 minutes and didn't get a bite so moved on. Our next spot was under Anzac bridge was there for about 25 minutes, I hooked up a couple times but lost the fish. Our next plan was about to cast sp at the wall right next to the old bridge next to the Anzac bridge then we saw lots and lots of surface action so casted a sp that looked like a baitfish and first cast I was on, I was using a 1-2kg rod 1000 reel with 3 pound braid with a 4 pound leader as soon as it hooked the water I had a massive take it took about 80m of line in 5 seconds I was calling it for a rat king after 5 minutes into the fight I saw the first glimpse it was a huge samon it jumped a couple of times then took even more line towards the bottom of the sea, I slowly brought it up then got it to the boat my dad netted it first go which was a surprise we measured it it went 55cm Aussie samon I was stocked a great fight 10min of fun haha got a few pics which I will post up latter then sent it back. The school went for 1 hour landed another 4 samon didn't measure it thought but around 40cm and one tailor which was 30cm. After I released the 55cm samon I hooked up next casted and got busted which was disappointed. We lost about another 7 fish which busted us and lost 6 sp all up. After an hour me and my dad decided to call it quites got back at the boat ramp at 4 ish and maritime and fisheries we there checked people's catches and safety gear. Was a great day probably the best session yet Thanks for reading Ethan
  14. Hi guys I'm upgrading my boat soon from a 4m tinnie 20 hp to around a 5.5 m fiberglass or aluminium with around a 100hp. I will be using the boat for fishing outside and for sleeping on the boat to just to let you know. I was just wandering what would be better fiberglass or aluminium boat my dad has a triton glr ute 2 wd. Thanks Ethan
  15. Hi mate Im pretty sure that the Aussie samon correct me if I'm wrong here. In the cooler months big kings
  16. They caught it on a soft plastic looked like a 1/4 size jig head and black on top pink on bottom. It looked like a sp that you would use for big big flathead ha but it is a trophy trout dam.
  17. Hi all went to the nepean Thursday for a fish for mullet and herring. I took a mate who is a nobe at fishing. I got up at 5:30 for a morning fish and we got to the wharf opposite the boat ramp and got one herring on a guppy as I call them looks like a siler fish but in freshwater. After that it went quiet for an hour then my mate casts out a pretty big piece of bread then in about 5 mins later the line starts screaming and bang lost him the one that got away well sort of. Then he is on the phone to someone and he falls in the water hahah I was laughing so hard en realised it was my phone ffaaarrrkkk. I almost threw his phone in too but I didn't. Well after he got out he does the same thing big piece of bread then 10 mins later he hooks up but this time gives it to me haha then it takes 100m of line in about 20 seconds and we knew this was a big fish. After about a 10 min battle we saw the fish it was huge. Then it took awhile to get it on the warf as we had no net and yeah so about 20 mins latter we get it on the wharf we measured it 80cm on the dot it would have weight 6kg estimate and then we killed it then put it in the bush sorry no photos as my phone went in the water. Next day I decided to go up to thompsons for a trophy trout. Got there at 3 ish and got to the quarry at 4 ish as it was my first time going there. When we got there, people were already fishing there and asked them have they caught anything yet and they said look in the esky and when we opened it there was a 10 pound rainbow trout it was huge. So got fishing straiight away got a 29cm trout and that was it. Hope you enjoyed the post and will post more soon.
  18. Yep I was there a couple of weeks ago and there where huge snapper at green island about 2km straight out to sea around the 8kg but since I have a small boat I only fished around and there were so many flathead it wasn't funny and the slimies gezze I caught a 45cm slimy. No Aussie salmon when I went but yeah for snapper green island. If you want anymore details pm me.
  19. I don't live up there but my uncle lives in Swansea he said the fishing has been crap lately because there is freshwater into the lake because of the rain.
  20. Sorry I will be on a boat and just wat every flathead is in the area I was thinking 3-5 kg rod and a 3000 reel or is that to heavy
  21. Hi guys just want ur opinion on this one wat is a good rod and reel combo that's $300 max with line on it. I will be using it for flathead for both bait and soft plastics and surface action that I come across. Please let me know reel size, line size, rod weight thanks Ethan
