  1. seems a pity having problems with a new engine makes you go GRRR i bet
  2. well time for the 6hr drive nth again

  3. scotts is alright very soft swell into beach but the ramp is short and is usually a long long way off the water if not high tide you have to go a long way of beach sometimes to get into 2mts of water ,seen ppl out of boat walking it towards beach and there still 25 meters from ramp. hey marlin yr right plenty of really top spots for pearlies ,snapper, parrotfish, big kingies 15kg + monster sampson ,big spaniards was one 25kg plus caught about 150mt off shelley last xmas even shelleys danger for most 4wds seen a f150 up to runnin boards in soft sand ,thats why we had a tractor .some pros launch off there then come back in through bar .still SWR is a far better option. that trophy should have a exceptional size fuel tank ?.
  4. mate the bar is treacherous even pros get turned over from time to time "seen it happen " that was coming back in .its channel is narrow like a 5mts across sometimes .just not really worth ,if ya had a small say 5 mt tinny you could beach launch from shelley otherwise for that trophy drive to swr then head back to nth to grassy or even further nth between nambucca and urunga , at one point @ low tide you could cast from end of wall over to uncovered sand on other beach .lots of sand build & it wont move really till we get another flood ,
  5. my sister works for a sat phone and satelite company ,they did have a great price on them with a govt rebate think about half price ,they get reception anywhere as they use satelites of course ,they mostly sell to ppl heading to kimberleys,or way out in middle of no where ,so i cant see any problems offshore .
  6. yep friend has a 685 explorer with a 250 on it ,tows it with a landcruiser tt v8 , had the trailer serviced last year and it was about 4k ,id think with full fuel, gear have to be near 3 t , absolute ripper hardcore bluewater weapon
  7. hmm im misunderstanding you but a boat license is NOT a fishing licence and visa versa , you can pick up a "fishing licence @ most tackle shops or even kmart . a boat license is a different kettle of fish people that go on your boat dont need a boat license, if there not driving it .
  8. you can buy paternoster rigs which are wire covered in a greenish plastic and have 2 clips for hooks best being a small whiting long shank ,and a larger clip on bottom for a small snapper lead ,ive used many times and you wont get bitten off but keep ya mainline clean otherwise only a sniff of bait theyll go staight for it bait used is strips of squid ,if there thick youll get heaps from one squid bait
  9. cant go past the sig's hull especially with decent donk ,hull will eat chop for dinner and take on most seas even when its real nasty you still feel safe ,i use mine more like a big jet ski in 2mt plus sea. one of the best hulls created .
  10. should be plenty yr way roberta not sure if it too early yet
  11. same rod Aernos 2500 FA
  12. that spot looks tops (bit of white water ,changes in depth )bet theres a jewie lurkin there somewhere )mate u wanna bleed them as soon as you catch , when you leave spot if you can find a calm pool fillet & skin them , should be plenty around your way with the breeding run of sea blackfish /seamullet /sea bream all pretty much coinciding with each other .i know of big catches from hat head . season little ,flour then pan with butter and a couple of minutes each side and oh yeah ,time to eat .
  13. where out thou westerly

  14. yes connected to my backbone is , etec ,storage device , power ,and sounder ,i have normal analogue guages dnt forget the hds cant power the backbone itself .with the 0183 nmea there could be a crossover connecter huey would know shoot him a pm ,i use 4 dif pages with overlays / i think one of best parts is entering coords/naming .i set the keyboard up in qwerty ,makes it super quick .wife read out about 40 dif spots i had on paper they were entered, and named in about 10 mins that 600 will be fine unless your heading wide
  15. yep that v8 turbo cruiser is a cracker it pull my mates 685 CC outsider pretty easy.
  16. hmmm you can easily check the car stats online , wont really matter what your car can tow its the towbar itself . specs sat can tow 1600 braked or 750 id say the standard tow bar would only be rated to 750kg ,enough nm"s . hmm ya might find its really semi - awd actually only part time with power going to fronts during normal driving unlike a subaru 50/50where its all wheel drive (thats all they make) or quattro (audi) 40/60 systems. you will plenty of moving around with that kerb weight .but with a hd bar do it pretty easy if anything might need better than oem tyres .worth it @ ramps low tide
  17. yep get your main ducer first ,that structure scan ducer is xxxx long but ive got both for my 7 touch its awesome
  18. hmm i tow with a my10 xt forester its rated too 1200kg the older pre 2007 foresters were more , it pull my boat quite easy ,bmt under 1000 kg . awd is awesome . to go that sort of distance out you want a near new motor for piece of mind .and around 5.5 mt. , youll get away with a smaller boat only if its quality hull to get you out of trouble.
  19. ive caught lots and i mean lots over last 10 yrs mainly off the rocks and almost exclusively on pillies ( IQF) usually a half cut @ angle depend on ther size sometimes a single, sometimes a 2 ,3 or 4 gang depends on there size look for quality any old bag from the local petrol station wont do look for freshness with no piles of scales on the bag ,also a good slice of fresh real sea mullet not that white flesh crap should be a deep red , main reason being im also catching big sea bream (2 to 4lb) in same locations (they make a instant berley in water as well ) and only when the mullet run on the midnth coast (anzac day my season starts).do i really start fishing
  20. thats bad luck ive done almost samething cast out ,place in fav crevice ,taken to remove undersize fish off my mothers line turned around & watched it javelin out 10 or 20 mts into the ocean ,then sat & watched rod & large overhead skip across the waves till it was out of eyesight (must of been something BIG & fast ) ,its heartbreaking but guess you wont be doing that again , proper protocol would be to leave line ready ,go for leak then come back proceed to cast and HOLD THAT ROD ive even been able to get hooks on to a bucket handle that was behind me & proceeded to throw bucket and all out into the foamy wash with KEYS for the car ,plus tackle in the damn bucket ,old man was not happy , Its happened to plenty of ppl

  22. oh yeah that first one's always awesome , love how the sand always sticks to those scales never get sick of that top effort
  23. nice effort damn they look nice or silvery fresh out of the water
  24. beach rocks, big fish drag wont really make that much difference try holding 20kg of drag with a 60lb jew on the other end its only gunna end with you in the drink youll only need about 20lb line they'll tire themselves out . whats the capacity of those reels id lean as well to salina, ,but like you im in need of a new reel for my rock/ beach outfit but its overhead and ive chosen the saltiga surf , are you going to use braid or mono off the rocks ?
