  2. Lol...I should really read the thread properly, shouldnt I..
  3. I dont know where you pay $70 for bearings, but if you go to whitworths,10 bucks each.I just bought some 4 weeks ago.
  4. Maps are here...http://www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/publications/maps.html
  5. I feel sorry for you, not your mate. Having to go home is not an option on my boat. Lives have to be in danger or its HTFU. Here are some of the excuses for going home. Im sick = Lmao Im hungry = Wheres your lunch? Im bored = your not fishing hard enough Im sunburnt = wheres ur suntan lotion? Ive cut myself = Mmmm wheres the needle and thread? Hook in hand/leg = Pliers, cut and push, bandage and keep fishing Im cold = put a jacket on/ What? you didn't bring one...Lmao I have to be home at ? time = WHAT???...(hysterical laughter) I can go on but you get the picture. BUT if you any or all of these things can be excused
  6. Try scotland island about 50 mtrs off the tennis courts and drift. we have been getting kingies there. we have been using hard bodies and poppers. A couple of weeks ago my mate had a follow to the boat and it was over a mtr.
  7. Nice fish bro, good to see one of us is catchin' fish
  8. Not bad Trung, your missus must think that boat is worth every penny. Gets rid of you for a day and always gets a feast on your return.
  9. I beg to differ Lads, sambos' are yummmm. There are a few prerequisites for cooking of the much maligned sambo. Gutted and bled on the boat, dont forget to cut into the blood vessel on the backbone and clean. Store on ice. Fillet when you get home and cut ALL the red meat off. Next is a smoking hot pan with butter just starting to brown Cook your fish in to the pan making sure you dont overcook and its a fine line between cooked beautifully and dry as. Dont bother freezing them or even keeping them till the next day. Thats what flatties and kingies are for....
  10. Ditto Stewy, Ive been fishing with Trung. If ya wanna fish with him, ya better bring your sense of humour with ya. Looks to me that you both had a good day.Congrats
  11. I bought one from deals direct, $58. Works a treat. The biggest issue is bags. Dont skimp on them, its the diff between sealing well or not.
  12. I used to fish the salt pan wharf alot when i didnt have a boat and i have seen and caught SOME of these : kingies all sizes, bonnie schools, 4ft shark, flatties, bream, and squid. I used fluro's on the squid and sometimes when I was lazy (90%of the time)I would just leave it on and put a hook on. Didnt seem to change my success rate. My theory is any attention is good attention.
  13. And through the night, the lights attract them. I catch a fresh yakka and spike it under a float, then flick with a jig.
  14. Dont be too hard on yourself mate, all fishers are responsible for the gear they are using. Especially if its someone elses. I went out with a friend last week and he lost a biggie too. I laughed and told him it couldnt have happened to a nicer guy.. now I have a 2 trip ban...doh.( note to self..keep big mouth shut and laugh on the inside)
  15. Lets hope he is insured,or he's in a power of pocket pain
  16. Looks the goods mate. Congrats on a great project.
  17. Nice catch. I love goin' up there. Those flatties just cant resist plastics. Dragging off the banks into the channels with the lightest jig. How far up do you go?
  18. What an adventure Roberta..That is some difficult conditions you had to endure. I would love to go back to the coromandel and fish. That big fish is always just around the corner there,I hope you get one before you come back.
  19. Try Brickman (site sponser),Im sure Gary will be able to help.
  20. Strictly catch and release bro..I beer battered it and not alot of taste and texture, but that is just my opinion. My mate liked it but he drinks VB too
  21. Yeah, it was right next to the water police. There is a slipway on the southern side and in that small area just flick all around the pylons there. Just have your boat up to scratch as you could throw a squidgie into their office. And no wonder the fish get big there, who's gonna lurk around that area. I have seen BIG bream there, and that is my next target. Just hope the boys dont mind me cruisin' in and snatching a couple of their pets.
  22. Thats a nice fish there, I would be very happy with that one. Its all good Trung, Ill net it for ya........
