jdy the fads are buoys which are fixed to the ocean floor by rope and i guess a cement block. because the dollies hang around floating debris you will find them around anything floating in the ocean like a tree branch a floating bucket a plastic bag or a fad ect. but the water has to be warm enough for them to come down this way! if you click on thunders link and have a look around you might find a bit more!

i believe the other two will be the kingfish social and the botany bay social!

great idea cfd! and roosterman i have not put anything under the gunnel as advised just waiting till a bit of ally plate pops up but i will do that instead!

lol roosterman, no i did have a fruitless 1st run on the downrigger just like you! then my second run was lastweek and i managed a salmon! this week was my 3rd try! third time lucky!!! thanks russ i hope it continues also!

mate the head on that fish is fatter than yours and thats a big effort at this point in time!

i know down wollongong they have taps at most ramps to run your motor and i think a quick rinse, but i havent noticed them up here, not that i have realy looked. i usually wash my boat and trailer at the local car wash after every seshion cost me $5 first i have $2 rinse then $1 wash which runs out but the foam still spreads to the remainder then $2 rinse! and i run my motor at home probably not allowed though!

got an early start this morning in the hope of finding squid in botany! 1st stop bare island, had a few casts but nothing! decided to move down to the corner of the break wall and the beach instead of persisting at bare island! had a few casts there and decided to change over to get some yakkas instead!(poor effort squidding on my behalf) got about 6-7 yakkas and chucked one on the downrigger! downrigged all the way up the wall! and seen a few good fish on the sounder! i got to the end of the wall and was considering pulling up to run back and start againbut decided to turn and follow the wall and big schools of bait were showing with some other possible big marks! i reach for the potato chips and zzzzz zzzzzzz! and shortly after i boat my 1st king on downrigger!!! 67cm!!!! i run back to go again! lots of action on the sounder again but no hook up! so i decide to concerntrate on this area! and again zzzzzz zzzzzzzzz! i strike and turn to wind up the downrigger and loose the fish! so i turn to go again get set and look up! ooops! all ten boats in the area have now swarmed on the area! no way i can downrig through! so on goes the large flickbait on a 1/4ounce jig! couple of casts later bang im on! zzzzzz zzzzzzzz couple of big runs then i start to get the upper hand and zzzzz zzzzzz off he goes get some more back and off he goes eventualls busting me off on the stones! then a few asian gentlemen in their tinny anchor right where evry one is fishing and we were all in a circle of around 6m and he pulles up right in the middle and starts casting squid jigs! i had to laugh! so i went home followed by a few others! great day on the water! ill be back! pics

the more fish you put in the more bad chemicals they emit giving you less time with the fish alive! try using a larger container! and maybe less fish! or better still get up early and catch them 1st before you go to fish!!!
