  1. I noticed this season was pretty slow gem fishing wise. Season started early and shut down early too. Gem fish were pretty small as well
  2. I was referring to old school 2 stroke. 55L is pretty good too. i didn't realise etecs were so efficient
  3. Haha yeh I know them 2 stroke fuel pains.. Used to have one my self.
  4. Nice ! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I'll read up on altimetry.
  5. Yeh .. Triple checked weather to head out that far. I checked for temp breaks but couldn't really find them once I was out. I was looking at rip charts
  6. yeh I slept in for work this morning. came in 2 hours late .. haha really disappointed as I've been chasing tuna for 3 years now and still have nothing to show for we burnt through 110L of fuel yesterday on a haines 530. conditions were very smooth all the way out.
  7. wow crazy! I went out yesterday. trolled from browns to heatons and back to southern canyons. was pretty quiet yesterday. only thing I hooked up was a 90cm dollie. any idea where they hooked up ?
  8. Yeh a mate of mine hit them south of Heatons. caught 2 yft on a popper. Very tempted to give it a crack tomorrow (though I think its raining).
  9. Any idea how far wide finin?
  10. I was out there too on Sunday. Was in my 5.3 Haines and it was pretty lumpy ... We got zeros and to make matters worse, lost 2 sets of my deep drop rigs and 250m of line
  11. Anyone know if the tuna still around Sydney? Happy with an albacore or yft this sat
  12. Thanks Dave. Do you know if you'd be spotting marks even though you can't pick up bottom ?
  13. Hi guys, I was out on the weekend chasing some fin and was really annoyed my 1kw transducer was not performing. I was in about 300 fa and could not pick up bottom. This is a real problem when Trying to sound for tuna to cube up. I couldn't even pick up bottom while trolling at 6 knots. The unit I have is a lowrance hds 7 gen 2 touch. My settings were: Installation: B260 Frequency= 50 Hz Ping speed = 12 The odd thing is that I can pick up bottom going 25 knots in shallow water. Which seems to suggest to me the issue isn't turbulence. When I am drifting, I can pick up bottom quite easily. Anyone have any ideas? I'd b super grateful http://i.imgur.com/QgKur14.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2GZ4ZJX.jpg
  14. Fished around Southern canyons. Trolled around for hours and then cubed some more for hours. Went through 20kg of pillies. Water was 20 inside the shelf to about 21.8 around 5nm East of canyons Noob question: what should I be looking for in a place to cube? Had a pretty tough day
  15. Thanks for sharing boatart! Southern canyons are at 34 12.929 151 28.158 I believe
  16. haha. I think I'll head to south canyons and to Browns. was that your plan amkr ?
  17. Hi all, I'll be heading out this Sunday. Just wondering what people's thoughts are on where to head? North or South of Sydney?
  18. Yeh I was thinking of using it on big tuna if I get the chance. Fingers crossed
  19. Yep. Main line is 80lb. Leader is 150lb. Thanks tackle berry! Was actually starting to lose sleep over this
  20. This is for trolling skirts. I've got some 6" skirts. Seems the 9/0 would be way too big. For bait (cubing), I'm thinking of size 13/0 circle tuna hooks. Heavy gauge.
  21. Hi guys, With all this chat about tuna, I was wondering what size hooks people typically use? I have some mustad 34007 hooks (forged o'shaughnessy stainless steel 7/0) hooks but I'm worried they'll get pulled. should I be worried? Cheers
  22. That's awesome to hear they're around Sydney. How were the conditions ?
  23. Shame .. I'm busy tommorow and the rest of the week looks horrendous
