High guys,
When it comes to tuna, I'm a real noob. Just wondering if anyone can share a few pointers on catching albacore. Are they best caught trolling ? Jigging? Cubing?
I don't have 1kw transducer.
Thx in advnce!
Hi guys,
the other day I was out at Browns and noticed my electric reel was coppin a fair amount of sea spray. After wards, the battery terminals were displaying some corrosion. Just wondering how everyone prevents this on their gear?
Cheers
Hi guys,
i was thinking of heading offshore (Browns) at night. Just wondering if you guys think it's a bad idea? Is there a big risk and hitting submerged objects at night? I was worried about hitting a big whale at 20knots or something
Cheers
I have a rule as well in exactly the same setup as the pic geoff posted up. My pick up does nothing at all as there are holes at the bottom of the pump (ie. The blue base bit)
Thanks madracket.. My unit is a lowrance hds7 touch gen2. I don't think it supports chirp
Think I'll have to get a 1kw.
Thanks for all the help guys. Much appreciated !
Hi guys,
So yesterday I went out to Browns(450m deep). My sounder gave me trouble all day and couldn't pick up the bottom. I have a lowrance hds 7 touch gen2 with transducer hst-dfsbl.
The settings I had were:
-installation = hst dfsbl
- 50 Hz mode
- fishing mode = deep water
- ping speed = 3
- sensitivity = 90%
- scroll speed = 25-50%
Do these settings look correct to you? Would you have a page up on configuring Sounders? What are your settings?
Many thanks in advance !
Cheers
thanks rexaway. Thats a great idea. I'll probably drill and use cable ties for an easy breakaway if need be. I've order 32mm x 45cm lengths cut. should be 13 deep drop weights on a 6m length
Thanks guys. Sounds the 32mm reo bar is the go. Found a place that sells them $52 for 6m. Sounds a bit cheap to me though. Perhaps I was quoted wrong. How do you rig the bar? Do you drill a hole in it?
Yeh I tried looking for the sash weights but can't seem to find them. Pvc and concrete didn't sound that dense though.
I've heard of 24mm steel reo bars though Bunnings only seems to sell 12mm as thickest
Hi guys,
I've hearinng about people using all sorts of substitutes for deep dropping. Eg. Steel reinforcing bars, window sash weights etc.
Just wondering what gauge people use for the bars and where do you get the sash weights?
Thx in advance
Thanks zmk. Yeh I had that issue previously as well. What I do now on cold start is just turn the key. If it doesn't start, I push in the choke and that seems to work pretty well
