  1. Sorry mate.. Read the weather and there were storm warnings. Was going to be a solo trip out so figured I play it safe and stay indoors
  2. Thanks swordy. Might just troll for dollies then
  3. Hi guys, Thinking of doing a trip to Browns tommorow. Any one have any reports/tips on deep drop ooglies? Cheers
  4. Fab1 is spot on. Surface clutter and sensitivity would probably be the problem. I too have a lowrance unit
  5. thanks mate. Will give that a shot. Great advice !
  6. Thanks fab1. I'll give that a shot. Very useful advice. Btw, how do u adjust it on the water?
  7. Hi guys, I've just recently installed a Airmar TM260 (transom mount) and I'm losing bottom at about 20 knots. From what I hear, at this speed, this should not be a problem. I believe I' followed airmar's installation instructions. Can anyone offer some advice as to what's wrong ? Any help would be much appreciated ! Here are some pics of the installation: Port Side Starboard Side
  8. I think I'd b better off finding a container with lid that can fit in between 2 stands of ur bait board. U might even be able to make one out of that wheelie bin u just bought. Then bolt it to that bait board. It will be able to over flow without risk of shifting around. Not sure it will get in the way of ur outboard trimming though. So check this first. Alternatively, put it to the side of the bait board
  9. Seems 100L is way overkill. I think its a waste of space and will also make it difficult to actually catch ur livies.

    Noisy Trailer

Thanks for the response guys. The noise was on before and after the brake pads were installed. The brake pads can move freely, though I should probably check that the cable was adjusted correctly. The trailer has in fact been sitting around for a while so it may be rust as well.
  11. Thanks guys. I've lowered it 1cm lower. So Hopefully it fixes this problem. If that doesn't work, I'll try planing around with the trim at various angles while at speed. If that does fixes it, I'll place an extra shim to angle it Will keep everyone posted
  12. Hi guys, I've just recently installed a new TM260 and it appears to start losing bottom at 20 knots. Is this expected ? And will this affect my performance when I'm say trolling at depth at about 8 knots ? My unit is a Lowrance HDS 7 Gen 2 Touch and I have the setting "Airmar M260 (5K)" selected for the transducer. Thanks in advance

    Noisy Trailer

Hi guys, So I took out my boat for a spin yesterday and noticed my trailer was really noisey. There was no vibration or wobbling on the wheels or anything but it had this pretty loud rattle that was coming from the wheels. The noise comes when the trailer is in motion. I can't figure out what it could be? Perhaps the rotors ? The bearrings were checked pretty recently and they seem ok. Also they've had new break pads installed recently. If it is the rotosrs, can anyone recommend a decent brand for boat trailers ? Thanks in advance !
  14. Hi guys, I've just made a rooster box for my transducer from 0.6mm aluminium. Just wondering if people thinks this will cause drag when I plane ? Or if you have any other opinions, please let me know Thanks in advance !

    Sounder Advice

Hi pony, I run a hds 7 touch with a 1kw airmar tm260. I think as a minimum, for what u want to do, I'll need a 1kw transducer. I'm pretty happy with my lowrance hds 7 touch. The service warranty with lowrance is impeccable. I had an issue once with the reception of gps and they replaced the whole unit for free. It doesn't get much better than that imo
  16. Ur transducer looks pretty small and light. What I've done in the past was use a plastic chopping board as a mounting board. That way, you drill only 4 holes. It comes in handy if u want to mount more than one transducer. Make sure u apply silicon to the back of the board before screwing it in. I just used standard outdoors silicon from Bunnings. I really can't tell the difference between than and marine grade besides the price.
  17. Thats not a bad idea zmk1962. Thanks for the tip!
  18. Thanks for the advice zmk1962. Lucky I've made a fibreglass installation plate at the back (so I don't really care if I have to drill holes). I'm quite curious with your installation though. Wouldn't the thermometer fail to work ?
  19. thanks ric001... I'll make myself a rooster tail box http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-how-s-kerno-memorial-forum/393026-easy-fix-tranducer-spraying-water-engine.html#PhotoSwipe1444082557727
  20. Hi guys, I've just installed a new tranny on my boat. Left side is pretty level with the hull but right side is exposed about 5 cm due to the deep v angle of my hull. Will this cause a problem with drag? Cheers
  21. Thanks 4myson. That's a relief. I can now give it away to the happy new owner
  22. Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I've got some one coming to purchase my outboard but I don't know what will be part of my "free rigging kit" with Yamaha. If anyone's purchased a new outboard, does the rigging kit normally contain all the control cables, harnesses, etc? Ie. Would I contain everything I need? I can't check with my dealer either as its long weekend Thanks in advance!
  23. Thx gwg. Headed out on thur for zeros. Had some bright green jet heads and some cupped faced lures. What colours do the tuna prefer?
  24. Are you guys getting the albies on the troll?
