  1. Red, Congrats on taking your daughter out, I just got back from a two day trip with my 12yo daughter Brittany and we camped overnight in a bloody three man tent, or should I say three midget tent. We had a ball and of course she outfished me. She has her own plastics flick stick and loves it, she will have memories of these outings for years to come. Regards, Hutcho EDIT Add Quotes [MOD]
  2. I read in a post the other day that some raiders were fishing for squid using a snapper rig set up and drifting. I have never heard of this before (sheltered life), I have only used the squid jigs? Is this other system productive? Regards, Hutcho
  3. Nice Fish, you know when I had a tinny I wanted a bigger boat, now I have a 5m Quintrex with a 90. When I see these tuna being caught out wide I feel like upgrading!!!! Well done Hutcho
  4. Great feed I can hear those flathead fillets crackling in the batter already. Well done, Regards Hutcho.
  5. G,Day Mex, Welcome to the site, my mate RayR and I fish extensively near the mouth of the Hawkesbury and around Patonga, Lion Island. Lately, along with others on this site we have been having a ball with flatties and soft plastics around the shoreline at Patonga and catching bream and trevs around Lion Island. The fishing is only going to get better over the next couple of months. Good Luck and I look forward to your posts. Regards, Hutcho
  6. No worries Steve, got the message, of course there is room for both. RayR and I are definately going to target them this season over in Pittwater. Although I'm not much of an expert on them but we will put in some research and hopefully get into them. Thanks for the reply, Regards, Hutcho
  7. Great stuff, double kingy hook up on plastics. Is bait a thing of the past? Regards, Hutcho
  8. Nice Flatty and great release. Well done. Hutcho
  9. Nice work Ceph, It's a great way to catch flatties and a great feed to boot. I remember a couple of years ago I used to get heaps of fish on hard body lures bp. (before plastics) at this time of the year, they are hungry buggers when their on. Well done. Regards, Hutcho
  10. Nice Flatty, they must be around and hungry at the moment. Well done on the bream too!! Regards, Hutcho
  11. Well done you guys you sound like motivated fisho's. Using all those different techinques in one sessions always increases your chance of success. How frustrating is it when other boats drive through the middle of a school!!! drives me crazy. Regards, Hutcho.
  12. Red I bet you could go back there different tide same bait etc, and clean up as you have probably done in the past. I guess that's fishing!!! Good luck next time. Regards, Hutcho
  13. Ahhhh, the whiting have won the battle on the day but I'm sure you'll win the war. Regards, Hutcho
  14. Nice little session, sometimes landing the fish is a bonus. Regards, Hutcho
  15. Well done, Nice Kingy on light gear. Regards, Hutcho
  16. Yeah Dan and some. What I didn't actually say was that I was attempting to cast up onto the rock as a joke and pull the lure back into the water. As it happened the wind pushed it back and it dropped in just cm's from the edge. regards, Hutcho
  17. Nice Report, Talk about persistence you guys deserve a medal. RayR and I would love to slip over to Pittwater for some Kingy Action this summer. Do you use any particular rig to catch them or tactic, I have seen the downrig setup but I as I don't have one it would be good to know how you do it. Any info would be great. Regards, Hutcho
  18. Thanks Ray, Just woke up to see your post and it is great. Thanks for your help with the net and friendship on the water. I know we both got a great deal of satisfaction watching her slither back to her home. Hopefully for another Raider to enjoy another day. Thanks everybody for your comments, much appreciated. Regards, Hutcho
  19. Well done these stories almost sound to me like another world, ONE DAY, I'll get out there. Regards, Hutcho
  20. Well done boys and a great post. I have been fishing up there all week and have come home with a good feed everyday. I ended up throwing my gulps at schools of salmon and they absolutely smashed them within seconds. I reckon I'll give the metal lures the flick, too much hard work. See you on the water. Regards, Hutcho
  21. Rubes, I replied to your comment on my last post. I was nearly going to fish in the same area yesterday, lucky we headed over to the Island. Bad luck yesterday but it does sound like there is some action starting to happen inside. Bring on summer. What street in Copa are you I'm in Ensenada? We should meet up for a fish I have a new 480 Quintrex Coastrunner, 90hp. If you are thinking of a new boat I can only recommend this model or similar I'm stoked with mine. Regards, Hutcho
  22. G'day Rubes, Looks like you are another Copa lad, I'm in Ensenada. I threw some lures around the flats near Ettalong without a touch. I have heard they have been catching 4kg model Flathead near the wharfs at night spinning plastics just on the dark line. Good Luck. Regards, Hutcho
  23. Nice one Dave, I also went out early this morning to chase Sambo's at the mouth of the Hawkesbury as I have done the last week. But they were gone, looks like I'll have to head south. They are a blast on light line. Regards, Hutcho
  24. Hi Raiders, Headed out of Brisbane Waters this morning with an old mate Paul, 65 and a sly old dog. He's a cunning fisherman and I've learnt a hell of a lot from this experience angler. Unfortunately I haven't seen him for a few years so we thought we would renew our acquaitance over a fishing expedition. I remembered he always started fishing by saying, "Now mate, this isn't a competition you know!!" Yeah right. Started at Patonga, I was throwing plastics and he was using whitebait. Scored five flatties but it was very slow compared to last week when they were really on the tooth. At this stage we were pretty even. Wind picked up from the North and with the outgoing tide it was starting to get difficult drifting so we moved over to the northside of Lion Island. We put out a berly trail and within ten minutes in was mayhem, travelly were hitting our unweighted baits almost on the surface and we kept 7 fairly big ones. About 30 minutes later the travelly took off and we started catching bream. These were quality fish and we kept five beautiful blue nose thumpers. All this within a four hour fish. All up 16 fish to take home for a great feed and good way to catch up with an old mate. He thinks I'm a genious for finding the fish!!!!! More good luck than anything. We were floating unweighted baits, mainly peeled prawns but in the end they were taking anything we sent down the line, including themselves. One very interesting issue arose during the morning. I was using my spin rod with 4kg braid and a 2.5kg mono trace. He was using regular blue fishing line and outdoing me 2 to 1. Has anyone had a similar experience? Is the braid too visable for fishing floaters in fairly clear water? It was definately a significant difference, he slayed me. Or is it just the young bull and the old bull story all over again. I LOVE holidays. Regards, Hutcho
