  1. Carp Aussie Salmon Kina Me 2 on the Bream.....Pretty much a waste of time Ling
  2. Yes it is the same stuff, but its a very expensive way to spool up a reel
  3. I use a Ron Thompson Accelerator teamed up with an Avet MXL 5.8MC reel or a Silaflex 8W 120 rod with a Penn Squall 15 depending on the surf and current conditions. Other rods commonly used are AFAW 6 + bait or something out of the Sonik range. The run of the mill rods available in tackle stores don't tend to work that well other than some of the hi end Diawa Tournament Master and Saltiga rods.
  4. Yes it can be but be prepared to loose a lot of sinkers and grapnels can run at $3.50 to $10.00 each
  5. Hi Mike Pretty simple. How far can you cast a live bait. 20 maybe 30 metres, and then they can swim anywhere. Using these things enables me to put a live bait 125 to 170m off the beach or rocks into deep water as I only have to cast a grapnel sinker. We use Namix or Gemini Breakaway sinkers. Because of bait sliders design the bait cant swim back towards you unless its strong enough to lift the sinker and bring it back to you. If you rig the bait up on a short leader, I use 30 to 45cms, which makes the bait easier for a Jewie or King to catch as it doesn't have to chase it all over the place.
  6. Hi Will and Chris A mate and I go out off the beaches nearly every Saturday night . You welcome to tag along if you want. We go South as far a Nowra and Nth as far as The Entrance depending on where they're biting.
  7. Nothing could be simpler with the right gear. We don't use the run of the mill rods and reels. The object of the game is to get the live bait out into deep water
  8. I use it all the time for sending live salmon and tailor out for Jewies
  9. And if you think Windang gets busy forget Hill 60 full stop. It gets absolutely packed when the fish are on
  10. This footage was shot at Fingal Beach several weeks ago. What they're not telling you is the number drones that were lost to the depths until they found a brand of rubber band that would break when the fish takes the bait.
  11. The dirty brown stuff is corrosion dissolved by WD40
  12. C'mon guys The state is broke and we need to pay for the 35 Public Servants that it takes to run the Premiers Office. I do agree that we shouldn't have to pay any toll when we spend the bulk of our trip on the freeway travelling 60km's below the speed limit because some decided we need to cut the grass on the median strip
  13. I take it that this is a spinning reel the we're looking at, in which case the brown thing should be a washer. You may find that it is seized onto the shaft. Try soaking it in Corrosion X or Penetrol
  14. Mate Your going under gunned, You can get big groper and thumping queen fish off the pier
  15. Im with Scratchie though there are far better baits. Try blood worms or fresh prawns, not the frozen rubbish work well. You might want to get along to the soft plastic social and pick up a few tricks. They're pretty easy once you learn how
  16. They're counting on the fact that you wont notice its gone and you'll be away for sometime in which time they've done what they needed to do and then discard them. The same reason they take them off cars in the middle of the night and screw them onto a similar make and model knowing that it probably wont be detected for 4 or 5 hrs
  17. Its a pretty small reel for lb 20lb mono. Not sure what brand of mono your using some cast better than others. Superline 100 or Maxima Ultra Green are two of the better ones. Could be just a matter of technique and more practice. Casting heavy weights likes 6 and 8oz takes a fair bit of practice
  18. mate you need to use Parmesan. The stuff in the green can works best because it stinks. Just let chicken strips marinate in it over night in the fridge
  19. Whack them on an unregistered trailer and all of a sudden its registered
  20. Very sensible advise They're there for a reason not just decoration
  21. Sorry but you'll have to move North
  22. Great eating fish. Just roll them in sand to get the slime off. Cut them into battons about 6 inches long and. Dust with flour and pan fry in lemon and parsly butter
