  1. I've pull on in at 35kg off the rocks Sth of Sydney back in the early 80's so why is this so improbable?
  2. Quantum Hot Sauce or Ardent Reel Butter are about the best on the market for what your going to use it for
  3. Bad luck, I've seen this happen so many times. Blokes get all excited about bringing in a big fish and forget one thing when it gets in close. Back the drag off and if it wants to go let it go and then try again
  4. Use a good quality ball bearing snap swivel
  5. Super 100 and Lo Stretch are pretty much all I use and have never had a drama
  6. The trilene knot is a simple clinch knot with a double pass through the eye. To lock it up pass the tag end through the loop at the top in a similar fashion to an improved clinch knot. Personally I'd be using a loop knot
  7. Hi Charlie If your handi something like this may be what your after
  8. Judging by the news, everywhere up that way is going to be fairly dirty for a while
  9. Why you'd be backing down on a fish that green I have no ides
  10. Peoples rods come apart because they don't put them together properly. Theres very little difference in rod performance between a 1,2 or 3 piece rod except that the 2 and 3 piece rods are much easier to transport and store
  11. I'd also be looking at small Xmas tree and Pink plastic squid patterns which I reckon are some of the best King fish lures Most hard bodies will be fine. I like "Qantas" colours the best as a lot of small pelagic's will chase them.
  12. Obviously the reel seat is two big for the reel. A couple of quick fixes. A couple of wire ties or large diameter hose clamps will hold the reel in place
  13. A mate of mine uses Penn Prevails. He uses a larger diameter PVC pipe. All the blokes I fish with use 1.2m lengths of 50mm or larger PVC pipe which we flog into the sand at least 600mm with a rubber mallet. They don't shift.
  14. If you wanted a review of the FK Stradic here it is http://www.tackletour.com/previewshimanostradicfk.html There have been issues with seized line rollers and weird "knocking" sounds coming from the spool when under load.
  15. This arguement was raised several years ago when a woman was injured on a boat that picked up a line, and the hook ended up embedding itself in the poor womans neck. MSB as it was then say it a NSWP problem. NSWP said that its a local council problem. Neither Wollongong Council nor Shellharbour Council want to take the responsibility each saying its the others problem and neither have the resources to deal with the problem. Once someone gets killed or seriously injured I suppose they'll put up a man proof fence similar to what they've put over every overpass on the freeways
  16. Yeah we saw them there the night before last. It would only take a boat to be coming through from the ocean side and there would be some serious injuries if not a fatality
  17. And ya know. I've never seen anyone land a fish off the bridge. i think the only thing they ever catch are boats
  18. I've caught heaps of Jewies off that beach but not that far Nth. We usually fish further south towards The Entrance
  19. Wilsons make a 12' 10-20kg but that is only available as an overhead reel option. Snyderglas Regal 13'6 9 wrap 12 to 24kg as far as Im aware now only available in mid mount for spinning reels. Your not going to get any great distance out of these as they are not the best casting rods. Ron Thompson Axcellerator. Again only available as an overhead casting rod and only available from UK. Your problem is the Alvey. Not usually used for shark fishing. Too small and too light for serious sharks
  20. Hi Matt Just fish them the same as you would any other soft plastic. They're a great flathead lure, the only problem with them is if there are chopper tailor about they don't last very long.
  21. Hi Tim Most quality Blades come with a clip included as pictured The holes in the will adjust the action of the lure If your using a slow roll retrieve then you set the lure in the middle hole and it will swim flat If your using the lift and wind method you move the clip to the front and the lure will sink tail first to mimic a wounded fish if your working the lure down a bank or using a rip and burn retrieve then move the clip to the rear and the lure will swim nose down which allows tou to bounce it down the drop off
  22. Good on you . I can remember my eldest daughters first bream. You do realise that Stella's and Saltiga Dogfights will soon become hi on his birthday pressy priority list.
