  1. I did mine 5 months ago. Hunted around, filled out all the web quote stuff and came up with Club Marine. J
  2. Please count me in also. Is there anything we should bring along? J
  3. I don't think it is the National park at all. It looks like a fairly sizeable inlet just behind the rods in the first pic. Could it be the ocean side of Jervis Bay just down from the southern headland? J
  4. Daylight Savings is nearly here again if you want to do a few evening sessions can meet you at any ramps between Pyrmont and Cronulla. Can even organise a day off every now and then. Weekends would be good early, we can even take a few boats and fish as a group, helping launching and retrieving. J
  5. Same here Paikea. If you need a hand give me a yell. J PS I looked at the extremes at the boat show....very nice.
  6. Same here, if there is a course come examination to get my license then count me in. J
  7. Hodgey, I haven't been here very long, but I have run my own site for many years and to say the volunteer work of a moderator is easy is saying you don't know much about forums. Many thanks for all you have done to support this forum for as long as you did. Its history and growth is down to like minded people like yourself. J
  8. I use the ramp a fair bit but try to limit it to a couple of hours before and after low tide and like Geoff, I look for an early morning low so that I can get a good days fishing in.The facilities are very good and there is heaps of parking so it is a shame it has its limitations, watch out in summer though as a lot of people cant read the signs saying Cars with Trailers only. As for the seagrass, it didn't seem to stop the pipe work for the desal plant going in but that is a different government body. J
  9. Paikea, Yes I can but I might have to "pole" out for a bit. I generally target 2 hours either side of low just to make it easier. J
  10. I have one of the smaller VHF ones fitted to my boat (450mm I think). I havent had a problem with it, however having said that, you dont know what you are missing either. I have heard one way conversations with Marine rescue and someone else and I have often wondered if I had a longer 1/2 wave aerial whether I would have heard the other half of those conversations. Last weekend I went to have a look at a longer aerial and bases J
  11. I was tempted to take the boat out. Walked up to Bonna Point to check out the ramp and it was dead low, only about 5 parked cars with trailers. Went home and there was the dreaded list of things to do around the house.....wish I was out catching small fish as well. J
  12. Must admit, I felt a bit negative about the new venue at Glebe Island, however, I really liked it. Plenty of light inside and seriously 5 halls across. By the time you had walked around inside and seen as much as possible, the ferry ride around to Darling Harbour was a nice way to have a break from walking. I guess all up, it took 30 minutes including wait time and loading up. As per normal, at Glebe Island, food is expensive, if you can time it well. eat at Darling Harbour. Lots to drool over and wish you could afford. J
  13. Excellent read that dragged me into the story. Well done, I thought jealousy was always painted green but it now looks all blue to me. J
  14. Try xtracool.com.au or chillco.com.au (they even sell cushions) or evakoolstore.com. They may not have the exact one but may have something you can adapt. J
  15. Same here with NRMA. CTP renewal for a 6 year old Hilux Dual Cab 4x4. I always had it as business and it was around $1100.00 this year, so changed it to Private and they reduced it to $900.00. Thought it would have dropped more. Tried QBE and it was $618.00.........Good bye NRMA. I remember when the government openned it up to all insurance companies, not just the GIO and told us that the price would reduce in a competitive market. That year it cost me $172.00 for the CTP on a Corolla. J
  16. When fishing it is berley (chumming). Burley is a name (Lake Burley Griffith) or describing someone (Swarthy/burley). J
  17. Paikea, I am looking forward to it, anytime. How did the smoker go? J
  18. Green Patch at Jervis Bay is pretty good. Campsites like Geroa/Gerringong are not to far away but not on the beach itself. http://shoalhavenholidays.com.au/where-to-stay/categories/caravan-camping/ Most beaches do not allow you to drive along them, there is one down near Batemans, I think it was, just cannot remember its name. If you are going to get into 4x4 and camping, have a look at the dual cab utes, the ability to throw everything in the back and still travel comfortably without rattles and squeaks cannot be underestimated.. J
  19. I grow a lot of my own vegies, including chillies. I also have chooks for fresh eggs and used this to set up my own permaculture setup.........if anyone wants eggs during the season let me know, I accrue about 3 dozen eggs per day from my freeranging flock and my workmates can only take so many.. Anyway, I am also a keen bbq'er and smoker etc and in my travels looking for ingredients I came across this place. (I was hunting for pinto beans to make the obligatory American style beans you see in all the westerns) http://www.fireworksfoods.com.au/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=304&Itemid=53 Although it is mainly mexican foods they have a good range of hot sauces and also a good listing of chilli seeds for sale, J
  20. You totally forgot about "getting away from it all". It is just nice to dangle a line in the water, shoot the breeze with a mate and solve the problems of the country.....worth every penny to my way of thinking. J
  21. Jocler

    Spit hire

Also try Graham at the Kurnell Butcher. He is an old style butcher, still makes his own smoked hams (which are the best I might add). I know he used to do the whole thing, he was in Kurnell, went to Woolaware and now back again. J
  22. We used to catch trags off the old wharf on Watts Reef. Used to used live poddy mullet as bait. Well done on your catch, sure wish I wasnt working today. J
