  1. Yes...bricked with 80lb braid in BB the other day. The end looked like dental floss when it was pulled up. J
  2. Also spray your plug and socket with some WD40. Check for "hot" interconnections as well. High resistance joints due to corrosion will run hot until they eventually melt the wiring. J
  3. Congrats to Georgia and your family in general Jon. You should be proud of all they achieve and I am guessing we will hear from them in the future as they thrive in their endeavours. J
  4. Great to see those fish. Hunted them but never caught one and huge to see them go back in the water. Well done! J
  5. I am actually using some 8lb braid that I got from Aldi. It is an off green colour which works well with squid. J
  6. I went with the FK 3000 on my egi rod. I found the 3000 reel on a 8' rod just seems to balance it up nicely. J
  7. Salmon Haul Bay (the point off Gunnamatta Bay) and Lilli Pilli Baths are worth a go for squid. J

    Bait ball drop in

    Simply amazing stuff. J
  9. The boat ramp will be closed from Oct 4th to Oct 21st for the rebuild after the storm. New pontoons and dredging is supposed to be happening. J
  10. Great photos as per usual. That water looks exceptional and a good fish. Since you don't make money out of your photos, you are a very highly skilled amateur with pictures I could look at all day. Many thanks J
  11. Don't forget, once you venture outside, you need all the extra safety stuff as well. J
  12. Rick, Sorry just saw this, hopefully, the radio will see you safe out there when you get your boat back. Many thanks. J
  13. Lilli Pilli wharf also goes well for squid sometimes. J
  14. Did you get a gen set? If you need one, I have a 2KvA model........it will at least keep the electric blanket running. Welcome to it for the weekend. J
  15. How are his teeth and his breath? You may find he has issues with "hard" stuff and it actually hurts him to chew. J.
  16. You can use something like GPS Babel to convert to your old GPS' format. www.gpsbabel.org J
  17. You can either get an Angle cube to measure what you have then replicate it or go for say a 10 degree and see how long it keeps its edge. You can also use a smooth stone to work out the existing angle. Yes different knives have different angle as they are made form different steels and different purposes. J
  18. I also find a half hitch with the mainline around the tail and the eye of the hook helps as well when using softbaits. J
  19. Did you use the stones that came with the Faux Pro? J
  20. I was up there just after Christmas. My BIL has a shack down on Bynoe Bay where we stayed. The back "patio" was on the beach itself and you walked down the beach, set out your mud crab trap and threw the float up in the trees. When the tide came in the trap was 7 metres underwater and there was no beach. The wet season is not the place to be if you don't like humidity, at 9am is was 31 degrees and 88% humidity. Great write up and brought back fond memories. J
  21. You underestimate yourself. It is a good read and I enjoyed every bit of it. Sad about the fish but then again, it is what brings us back for another go and I am sure you will be back. J
  22. Went but avoided the buying of a new rig...although very difficult. Some good deals going around as well. J

    How creative

You will probably find that he also has a campervan/caravan. This way he can take both away whilst camping. J
