  1. Awesome there with the Daughter Mate and memories just get better with time. I had a great session with the daughter on Blue Swimmer Crabs over Easter, up at Brisbane waters so it was with hand lines, priceless. As for the Tailor, couple of cuts across the thickest part then fresh grilled with a bit of butter........ Yum.
  2. Funny you should mention that. What I heard it was a set up that sunk the Club. Have a bit of a Google around and if your sceptical like me it smells. Oh and Joes mentioned ... surprise.
  3. Stupid, Inconsiderate and arrogant people are just that. People at the boat ramp that don't want to wait their turn, having a boat troll thru your lovely burley trail while floater baiting for Yellowfin, fishing at a spot (wharf or rocks) when you walk a fish over to your bag to have someone jump into the spot you were just fishing, spinning into a school of fish and someone trolls thru the school, Anchoring up to a spot when a Commercial boat of bubblies turn up and anchor within a few metres, Oh and don't let me start on the FADs. Fisherman, Spearos, Scuba divers. The Stupid, Inconsiderate and Arrogant wreck it for every one. And thats my RANT for the day.
  4. You have a Silver Biddy. Gerres subfasciatus.
  5. You got yourself a Ridged Swimming Crab. Charybdis natator.
  6. I'm with Cluster, Common Pike Eel.
  7. Yeah Mousse, first one is a Eastern Kelpfish.
  8. You may find a Cale (both Rock and Herring) are different critters.
  9. Eastern Kelpfish for the first and Wirrah Cod for second.
  10. We used to call them "Doctors" when Blackfishing Paikea.
  11. I'm with Yowie. Though ..... if's it not a 6 Spine the only other one I could think of is a Yellowfin Jacket.
  12. Awesome fish there there Dan and you better get used to it, "The daughter out fishes Dad" Well it happens in my house
  13. Very, Very, nice Quochuy. Love a good Sunset/Sunrise photo. Thanks mate.
  14. No problems Kenneth, happy to help. PS Hope I'm right.
  15. MMMMMM, looks like a Diamond Wrasse. Anampses Caeruleopunctatus.
  16. Few different Trumpeters floating around. This one is a Eastern Striped Grunter/ Trumpeter. Pelates sexlineatus. The Bastard Trumpeter is rarely hooked and the Striped/Tasmanian usually further south. Hopes this helps.
  17. Never eaten one but from all reports, nope better fish in the sea.
  18. I recon, Herring Cale Odax Cyanomelas.
  19. Different critters you catch up there. The 2 common ones are Large and Small mouth Nannygais up the reef. The ones in Sydney are Centroberyx Affinis , further south you get the Swallow Tail variety Cetrodryx lineatus. Both good on the tooth if you can get them size.
  20. On-Ya Paikea, things you come across fishing. The first one I always called them a Pied Stilt. See them up Iron Cove and the Parra.
  21. Blackfish

    Longtom?

If I had to have a guess I'd call it a Stout Longtom Tylosurus Gavialoides.
  22. Certainly a start, but I wonder if the commercial fishers have their catch reduced to 40% of their original quota like the rec fishers.
