  1. Teflon, you'll find Coral Hind/Cod have a Convex tail where a Coral trout will have a Concave tail. That critter above has a Concave tail, so Trout. Bit like Jewfish and Teraglin.
  2. Iceman, it's funny that Fisheries only list Estuary Cod, Black Cod and Queensland groper as protected not Blackspot. Government Departments ????
  3. I would recon it's a Black Spot/ Malabar Cod Epinephelus malabaricus. Unusual, mmmmm.
  4. Scroll thru the link ......something somewhere may make it clear. http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0008/539351/new-fishing-rules-nsw-sbt-faq.pdf
  5. Blackfish

    hit sand

I see where your problem started.
  6. Juvenile Australian/Eastern Salmon. Arripis Trutta
  7. Thanks Fab1, excellent tips.
  8. Could you imagine finishing the blade off with a 3000 or a 8000 grit stone. IIIEEEE. You could do a Crocodile Dundee and shave with your knife. In the past Ive used a Lansky and know how good they work if your not confident on a stone, yours takes it to the next level.
  9. Very Very nice there Fab. I do like a sharp knife. It's like a industrial version of a Lansky.
  10. I'd agree with Fishy on that one.
  11. Sorry no reports from me but you can't use Witches Hats in Brisbane Waters.
  12. Yeah NaCIH2OK9, maybe a juvenile/ female etc for the colour variation. The bands across the eyes makes me think Gunthers.
  13. Possession limit would be 20. Don't believe there is a size limit, but gee you'd be hard up keeping small ones. You may get a Crimson Banded Wrasse at a reasonable size (400 grm +). You see Crimson's, Purple and Blue Throat Wrasse in Chinese Restaurants and they ask big prices so someone must like them. Purple and Blue Throat Wrasse are not a species really caught in Sydney but they grow pretty big down the South Coast. 1kg plus.
  14. The Wrasse is a Gunther's Wrasse Pseudolabrus guentheri. Good luck with the Yakkas.
  15. Definitely Rock Blackfish/Black Drummer Girella elevata. I've seen Juveniles with that colouring but I can't recall any adults, anything is possible though.
  16. Eastern Striped Trumpeter/ Grunter. Pelates sexlineatus And a Tarwhine is a Tarwhine and their just happy to be that.
  17. I think it went up on Sunday about 1 o'clock. Not sure of the story .
  18. I'll take a punt and a punt that's all it would be. I found about 125 Cardinalfish listed in OZ. AIEEEEEEEE. Striped Cardinalfish, Apogon fasciatus. I don't think the stripes are right for a Sydney Cardinalfish .
  19. Gunthers Wrasse. Pseudolabrus guentheri. I think they've come up on here before, have a look on the search feature.
  20. They seem to be a pretty common by-catch when fishing off the stones for Pigs and Bream ETC. I've never seen one that I would consider big enough and never heard of any body eating them. But anythings possible. Catching one off the sand is certainly a surprise.
  21. Eastern Kelpfish Chironemus marmoratus. Very common little critter, pretty sure its come up on here before a few times.
  22. Cracker of a Bream you have there and the other fish is a Male Crimson Banded Wrasse. Notolabrus gymnogenis.
