Hey Raiders quick report from yesterday. Hit the water 530am conditions were a little average when we got to Botany heads but decided to push through given the conditions weren't meant to get any worse. Punched out wide and sounded around until we found bait with a few solid marks it was at this stage my decky Craig turned green and started his own burley trail. First drop with squid and bang the rod loads up Craig grabs rod and it seems to take his mind off things after a good battle nice 89cm King surfaces. Well at least that's dinner taken care of. I deal with the fish in the boat. While I'm dealing with fish Craig starts burleying again. Quickly line up another drift but in rushing I was about 20m off still get the tap tap on the rod set the hook not a king but this nice mowie surfaces. Tell Craig one more drift as I wanted a king. Line up properly drop down and bang rod loads up good head shakes then goes quite get it all the way to the top and it's a decent size looking barracouta or cuda not sure as it shakes the hook on the surface. By this stage Craig was at the dry heaving stage so we head back for the bay. Hate leaving a good bite 3 fish in 3 drops and I have to leave [emoji22] Once inside we drift with plastics and pick up a couple of flattys which are released had more than enough fish for dinner. Live squid seems to be the best bait for bigger kings but if there are rats about any squid should entice some interest. Not familiar with where your fishing but I'm sure some local raiders can throw there 2 cents in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So have convinced the mrs a few days away to the hawkesburry would be a good idea and it was her that suggested I should bring the boat and do some fishing. Lures might be a bit much for the little guy to start. I'm not sure of his triggers or degree of ASD. As I said before hand lines with a simple dropper rig worms for bait you should be able to get bites and fish. Found the main thing is keeping them distracted until they get a bite. Guessing freshwater? My son is 8 aswell and he enjoys fishing where I use a hardline with a springer and a bell on it he can fiddle around not needing to hold the line and gets excited at the jingle of the bell when he gets a bite. Don't want to be condescending but can you put a worm on the hook (my wife won't touch them) they are a good bait don't come off easy. Bonus of this is hand lines are cheap springer can be a green tree branch and the bells are only a couple of $. If you can use worms can dig them in the garden my son enjoyed that just as much as fishing haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which outfits do you have that can throw the lures effectively? They are one of the best fresh water eating fish. The only one better I'd say would be yellow belly which you stand a good chance of catching with spinnerbaits aswell. If you take some meat from your hunt liver etc and add soap you might catch shrimp aswell they are a gun yellow belly bait. Might be to cold for the shrimp not 100% on them. Know your pain mate I have kerataconus in my right eye that's really starting to play havoc with my shooting and tying fine fishing knots. My wife is also nagging me to get it fixed but I'm putting it off the pain of after surgery sucks haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
