  1. Finally got permission off the Boss in two weeks me and a mate are heading bush for a relaxing weekend of hunting and fishing. Hoping to stock the freezer with some game meat and going to try and beat my PB Murray Cod of 56lb (Dont like my chances haha) from what the property owner said the yellowbelly are on the chew aswell so hopefully be able to get a couple of them. Cant wait to get out of the city into some clean country air!!!!!
  2. Pop used to have the old 410 shotty handy for them so he didn't have to get to close. He lived on a property and the laws weren't as strict back then haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Nice work mate doesn't matter the size a Jew is a Jew and the fact you caught what u were targeting you have to be happy with that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Got a leave pass from the. Mrs last night and with the barometer sitting at 1025 and a cloudy night I decided to go soak some baits for a Jewy. Launched at Muddy creek and headed out around 4pm straight to the tugs in the bay for some livies and they were very hungry in no time at all had half a dozen yakkas in the tank. Now came the big decision where to set up shop decided the George's as the Cooks had a lot of debris washing down headed over and set up at one the holes, water was dirty but had heard reports of fish still being caught further up the system so was still confident. Set out the spread a squid bait a livie and a slab bait. Fished 2 hours before and 3 hours after the high tide for a large ray taken on the slab and a soapie on the squid. Both quickly released unharmed. Had a massive run on the livies but the hooks didn't stick. My spot didn't fire as good as it usually does but still def worth the trip. Sorry for the dark pic flash wasn't working Can't wait for this rain to bugger off still waiting to crack that magic meter. In hind sight probably would of been better off fishing one of the holes in the bay where the water wasn't so dirty. But I'm still trying to find that elusive Jew hole they are a very tightly guarded secret haha Cheers Katoe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    How useful

I offer to pay on someone else's boat and if the refuse petrol money then that means they are owed a trip out on my boat. As for my mates without boats they are usually pretty on the ball with chipping in for fuel bait etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I tried a rapala one and one I bought from Kmart or big W the rapala died corroded out the cheap one is still going it has a rubber seal around the battery bay has two speeds and takes a D size battery aswell. If I get a chance tomorrow il take a pic of it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. What technique are you using and what hooks etc? I have two ways i fish both of which i use circle hooks, one is with a baitrunner wait for a run click in gear as i lower the tip wait for wieght to come on but not striking let the circle hook do its job. the other is fishing in gear and let the holder hook the fish on its run once again the circle hooks come into there own. the only thing i dont like about the cirles is its tricky to bait live squid etc but then again maybe i just need more practice haha.
  15. Nice write up mate. I made the mistake of not having the drag set in the rush to get all lines in the water mine cost me my rod holder as it was bounced out of the boat haha luckily i caught the rod but the fish had spat the hooks. Sounds like you have the spot sorted though im lucky to get 2 good runs in a session and there isnt really any bycatch apart from the odd stingray where i fish. Im not game enough to have a light rod out targeting Bream cause my luck would be a monster would hit that line haha. Cheers

  22. Hey Raiders On Sat went to the trailer boat show at Sydney Olympic park and checked out the boats the stand out for me was a boat from one of the Sponsors (Huett Marine) the Savage 645, both me and the Mrs could see the potential in making this a family boat, unfortunately the stars didnt align and my boat was a bit to old for Craig to do a trade in with which put it slightly out of my reach which leaves me saving still and thinking about selling my old boat privately. Im dreading the thought of being left boatless but starting to think the short term sacrifice is worth the long term gain. Do any Raiders have any experience with the Savage 645 how does it perform on water etc. Cheers Katoe
