  9. hi raiders am gonna spend 4 days at barlings beach which is approx 20 mins drive after batemans bay. any of you guys know good spots for rock/beach fishing around there. main target is drummer though. thanks bertrand
  10. top fishing mate looks u got the right technique to catch those c/coast drummer and blackies so u dont use any float at all? and looks like u fish from the beach and not a rock ledge? funny that these drummer (on pics) look slightly different from the ones i catch here in sydney looks like (i may be wrong) their heads bit more pointy anyway, well done cheers bertrand
  11. the abu is not the best for light weight. anyway, i dont need to cast as i fish right down the ledge. with a float and sinker, i can get a decent cast if i want fish mainly with peeled king prawns which is top bait on the rocks - catch anything, pricey though. am not confident yet to use bread as bait. any tip?
  12. i fish with 20 lb mono on an Abu 6600C4 baitcaster and 13 ft zebco rhino DF stick. never let me down yet with the 2kg drummer. want to catch those 3kg+ cant wait for more reports from you cheers bertrand

  14. well said my rule is never fish a new spot alone and always check the swell (seabreeze website is pretty good).
  15. that's fishing mate, it happens but if u doing the right thing (right gears and tackle, right bait, right tide and use of burley), the fish will come next time lucky i've been fishing drummer off mona vale headland. good size drummer there cheers bertrand
  16. well done ceph its good to gets kid out fishing instead of watching tv or playing video games cheers bertrand
  17. nah its not a groper, just a fat drummer. sorry for pic quality get mine 8-9 box a kilo. cant tell u here as i might break the site rule. just pm me if u need more info cheers bertrand hey ceph, drummer is excellent eating. delicious white flesh. whether steamed, curry or deep fried...all taste good. u should give it a go. the trick is to keep your fish alive till u finish fishing, then bleed and clean straight away. if u leave the gut inside for hrs, then its gonna taste a bit weedy my mate always say, any fresh fish tastes good cheers bertrand
  18. hi raiders sorry for quality of picture. Taken on camera phone Went to my usual ledge this morning around 8 and had to wait for a couple of hours before i could start fishing as it was high tide and there were a few bit swells. Around 3 hrs after high tide, again, the fish started to be active and responded well to stale bread burley. Again peeled king prawns worked better than ab guts. Me and fishing buddy caught around 10 black drummer but kept only three (around 40 cm mark). Caught a few breams and there were plenty of trevally around, caught 5. It was a nice day fishing. Cant wait to hit the rocks again. cheers bertrand
  19. thanks guys forgot to say that burley was important to create that feeding frenzy
