  1. nice work - is that south from bowen or south from currong? ive herd south of bown to stoney creek is a good kingie chanel - but swell has never been nice enough for me to go down there
  2. Had a week down in jervis bay, stayed at Crookhaven heads, Aim for the week was a keeper kingy, back up was feed of squid and flathead, We mainly fished in JB and between the heads, the wife dosnt go to well if the water is to sloshy, We managed only 2 good bait squid wind was blowing north north west so squid drift was hard and was horrible round point perp, we had a drif in near the tubes and the wife landed a 62cm Sargent baker, my squid had bits out of it, and no other touches, so tried long nose must have only been picks as we kept getting nibbles on the bait but no hook ups, the squid went down and I came up with just leagel snapper, little pig. Most baits never got a touch, I have prawns and squid from woollies and lasted ages never a touch pilchards hard some touches, the main bait that worked every drop was squid dead or alive. Next day we tried point perp again after not one squid 3 ppl casting perfect drift pace for an hour, not one squid, Anyway point perp was better swell was average but no real wind, went over a huge bait ball dropped baits and I jigged, dad came up with a pinkie snapper and the next drop a 38cm blue mowie, yum, turned out the bait ball was actually mowies, at first I thought is was a fault on the sound till they came up the my burley, Picked up a few flatties on the drift and a small school of Mac tuna on sp gear was fun fun fun, Had a quick go for squid on the way in and I got one big one, so few and bait for tomorrow taken care of. Last day wind was bad and further we went the worse it got then went back to calla bay was little calmer had a drift weather improved so we went further out, then wind came up, then improved, stupid weather, with fuel wasted and weather improving we had another crack at squid at honey moon bay, weather got better and better turns out off the heads ended up being lovely and perfect conditions, I just didn't have enough fuel, To make matters worse we got about 8 perfect kindie sized squid then 2 stonkers Nd one good size squid, pic dosnt give them justice, once cleaned the tube went 32cm and 29cm with the ones I'm holding. No kingies but had good fun, the bay is healthy as no mater what depth we dropped baits we got baby flatties everywhere. Tight lines everyone
  3. So thats where the decent Kings were, only rats round point perp, accasional keeper, we missed the keepers tho, good job on the Kings, looks like you had the perfect weather.
  4. Thanks I think that's the model up from mine as it's longer.. But I'll go off that weight.. Thank you very much
  5. Hi everyone I have been looking everywhere for info on my hull, mainly the approx hull weight, there is nothing on many forums, I have my HIN number is there somewhere I can call and find this info? Any assistance would be perfect..
  6. cranka crab or somethign i think - i have 2 sets - i havnt had a chance to use mine (bottom of tackle box and have forgot) i think they would be hard to keep on the bottome and move based on there weight - next time im in a tidle lake or river i am going to cast it out on a slow drift and let the drift move it alone the bottom - i gues wil have a similar effect as a nipper or somthing
  7. it looks like a cross breed - def red mowie in it but has a head like a drummer or black fish-
  8. The first guy was using a bloody heavy rod
  9. Looks like we should have some good feed back coming in over the next few weeks I personally think it will work.. The last few trips I have put my sp rod in the rod holder cos my bait rod was going off and at least once a trip I've gone back to a fish on my sp, last trip was a leather jacket, trip before that was a kingy haha should hVe seen my face...

    hull only purchase

Hi dave, That is deffenatly something we will be doing, Might sound like a long way of doing things, but I am getting prices on boats we like with features we like, and narrowing down two one or two we like and best suits us and price. Then will be doing the same down the second hand path, then waying our options.. I'm weird like that, but at the end I feel more I've researched the best I can to make the best decision.. Yes I'm weird haha.. I just looked at the Mackay boats I like....

  12. hi everyone - i have different curcumstances then most people - i have an old half cab boat 4.9m - in the future my wife and i are looking to upgrading to a fishing boat like barcrusher or surtees approx 5.75 size - but in the last 9 months we have had to upgrade the motor so we basicaly have a new motor, 100hp etec, i won a top line fishfinder this year, and a new vhf radio - in the las month we found out the trailer was ruined - so we urgently looked and got a new trailer we got one with much better rating (1500kg gvm) suits boats 5m- 5.85 multi roller. now we have sat back and realised we only need a new hull and we have a awesome new package - basically we want as much fishing deck space as possible with a small cab, only requirements i want is it needs a rocket launcher, live bait tank, kill tank, infloor fuel tank (which most come with or they are an option) im unsure on site rules exactly - with talking about boat companies or models, or is it local business? if you have to pls pm but i am after opinions on what aliminum fishing boats people reccomend - so far my fav is the Barcrusher 575c model as 90% of what i want are standard features. are there any other brands out there with a good rep, that are worth looking at? boat will be used for lakes, bays inshore reefs and FADs on good days of course i have received a quote for a surtees 575 and savege 570 and there is a 10 grand differance - admin if any issues with this post pls msg me so i can fix/ change it. cheers Reese
  13. ill be away for a fortnight fishing - so ill test it out one with double bait the other with sp on the bottom and bait on top - will post some feed back
  14. THATS GOOD TO KNOW CHEERS (APART FROM THE ONLY RATS) HAHA 46 squid.. did you leave me sum for me haha - squid must have been on fire what area did you squid round? i wont be wasting all mine on the kings love fresh squid. if you dont mind me asking what sort of size where you using as live bait? because i have only ever caught big squid.. 1 small one - i normall use a 3.0 jig, should i go small for smaller squid? thos exact spots was my plan for the day - get some squid head round to long nose work my way out round the point in search of kings then once the bite is done dift for some flattys - but we really want some keepers for a feed -
  15. i have herd of this being very popular and not overly talked about becauses its popular - also the the paternoster rigs with the little pink flys on them are very popular - i also put a little bait on the hook to be sure - but a rig that was pointed out to me was sinker then bait then top hook a SP
  16. Yeah my boat is better for in JB round the heads, cliffs ect, banks on a good day.. If I get a good day I'll try the banks, but I'm happy to stay near the heads and Cliffs. Hopefully some are around there seems to be plenty Sydney and south and the south coast so hopefully there is a few in a fortnight.
  17. Any reports from jb or crook haven? I'll be down for a week with the fam in a fortnight.. Hopefully get a few squid and get into the Kings, would be awesome to get a few of these, plus I'll be taking my olds out and the wife, so fingers crossed worst case I'll be happy with a feed of flattys.. Is anyone getting much from the area? Any tips from crook haven? I no my spots in JB, since I'm staying at crooky I should utilise it specially if weather is only going to be good for a few hours.
  18. Never herd of this place where about is it?
  19. I have this app which I can put in my exercise to help calculate how much I'm burning, and it says 2 hours = 853kcal I always thought this was sus, till the arvo after a day's fishing, you use so many muscles just stablizing your self, you don't realise till the next day..
  20. The report I seen was a jet skier seen its big dorsal fin and then the large shadow, then realised how large it was and didn't wait around to introduce him self..

  24. yeah trick is wait till water temp is under 20 degress and a biig swell - then when is calms down and clears get in - just practice ya duck diving coz thats what it is "searching" looking under rocks adn under kelp and in crevises - sometimes gotta have a really really good eye as they are very similar colour to the rock and kelp- To behonest im not that good at it im still learning i have only had about 3 good dives at the right time of year - but now im getting back to good health and same with my dive buddy we will hopfully have some luck - fish wise there was a few drummer plenty of luddies and some mowies (lots of smal) but a few good sizes - plus you get the tailor and salmon sweeping through - last time i was there i didnt go far at all based on the murky water (i like to be able to see a good distance
