  10. i got a few packs in the pumpkinseed. tried them out up at North Haven with no results but onced i switched back to gulps i hooked up and switch back to slams ... nothing. also given them a quick flick down LCR with no luck
  11. i bought a garmin 140 for my kayak end of last year and finally got round to installing it last week. all worked fine then today i turned it on again and only got a "sonar failure" coming up. it hasnt been tested on the water yet but seeing it worked the 1st time i tried it and got into the menus etc, now its not letting me do anything but displaying the "sonar failure" on the screen. i spoke to Garmin and the are puzzled too. said try it on the water and call back. i will be taking it out this weekend more than likely sunday. has anyone had this problem or heard of this????
  12. i fish the LCR quiet a bit but have never eaten the fish from there. i have pulled some pretty deformed looking fish out of there but then again ive done the same in alot of other places too. i know a few people who eat the fish out of there and are fine (kinda) nah really they say its all good. i guess fish do travel so.... i wouldnt be feeding the kids though just incase. good luck and might see you down there. damien
  13. congrats, nice bream. good old lane cove hey..
  14. mate i been bass fishing once a few weeks ago and used my bream gear. bought like 10 different bass spinners etc i got from several tackle shops that week but caught and landed the only bass (and my first and only so far) on a little sinking popper which the young guy at a tackle shop (i wont name) tried to convience me in not getting as he said it would never work on bass...... hehe it worked. if anyone can post the pics for me??? cheers damien
  15. yeah i seriously would like to target them but not sure about from the yak just yet. myself and yes dear have fished the banks of the LCR for a few years basically targeting bream and flatties. we were wading out there alot last year in all sorts of weather. have caught some monster flatties and bream there. one time we were wading back to the shore flicking SP's on the wade back, something did bump my ankle but was small i think as i thought it was a flttie i might have stepped on but i have heard of bullsharks down that way too. been spooled a few times there too. does anyone know how to target them for real and is there a size limit do they swim in heards (i thought they hunt alone) etc??? cheers damien
  16. yeah does help. do people actually fish SP's and lures with two rods at the same time???? i couldnt see this working unless you you had those daiwa bait casters (i think vieno or something) with the auto twich retreive bar on it. any1 made up there live tank yet? im mounting my fishfinder this weekend. anyone put one on that has a revolution??? id like to see where. im thinking in one of the side mesh areas up near the seat. cheers damien
  17. anyone heard of any updates etc regarding the comp??? im definatley in like i said before. i own a hobie rev. whats classified as trolling??? if i pedal once or twice whilst flicking is that trolling???? what if you hook up and start heading towards snags or boats etc and need to paddle/pedal out? is that trolling? is there a limit on size tanks for 2 bream????30L ????
  18. ok guys how do i target them on the yak???? if there their i might aswell try???? is there a legal size? whats the quickest way to kill one?
  19. ok guys the date has been set for his final day of freedom..... house boats? weekends away??? any other ideas?
  20. i joined up the abt today im in
  21. well i got heaps especially not catching fish sitting there for hours on end waiting both on the land and in boats. once wen i was younger prob about 14 or so me my dad my cuz Deschanel and his dad had an old 18foot half cab fibreglass boat. old 100 evinrude (heavy as) on it and a back up 6hp (yamaha i think) long shaft. we were holidaying at north haven up the coast and decided to venture out the heads (all of us pretty new to boatin) trip out was fine prob around 2km off shore then the afternoon was coming after a long day of bottom bashin ( with no success i think) half way back the 100 evinrude conks out dead as. we turn to the back up tiller drive for a very slow trip in. we get close to the break wall and the waves were smashing through. begin silly and not so smart about it decide to try to get in before sunset. there were heaps of people watching on each side of the wall including life gaurds. the old guys go hey you wanna bring it in and i say yes. absolutley shitting myself head towards the breakers rolling past us as our 6hp was basically no help. for some obscene reason and fluke i manage to catch a wave and surf the boat back in. i was so relieved and i think everyone else was. the fact of sitting at the back of the boat steering from the side with hardly no view cause of the cabin. then that nite at the video shop i stumble accross some of those breakwall videos with guys flipping etc trying to get in and out. didnt know this typr of thing happened. found out the battery had conked it and thats why we lost the main motor. lesson learned and got a dual system put in. got rid of that boat not long after i think. now no boat except Deschanel has one ( when we going out cuz its been ages by the way ) and i have bought a hobie revolution kayak n am loving that. might hit the deep blue in it one day when i get set up right and more experienced.... lots more but that was one of them cheers damien
  22. hey all, im going to start bass fishing soon. i have no idea of what gear to use. read alot of posts and bought alot of lures, spinners etc from tackle shops ( that i cant keep out of). was curious to see what everyone else uses or thinks about this bass fishing? cheers damien
