  1. I have a lowered commodore and have had no problems towing a 5.5 metre boat around...
  2. Yeah b*gger it. We'll be out for sure, hopefully get in and out quick with a few kings to boot. See you all out there.
  3. In the paper this morning it says more than 2500 vessels are expected to take to the harbour tomorrow. I'm having second thoughts... kingfish / total chaos, kingfish / total chaos. hmmmm
  4. Gday fellas We'll probably be out Sat morning chasing them too. If you see 2 young blokes on a 530 quintrex with 100hp Yamaha give us a wave, we'll keep an eye out for you guys. Might have a troll around the heads with livies. I think it will be chaos on the harbour Saturday but the weather looks too good to stay at home. Beaver
  5. Nice effort mate. I was down there recently and landed 2 big drummer. I got smoked by 2 other unstoppable pigs. Good to hear they're still around...
  6. Sounds like a great day, well done

    What's This?

    Looks like a Wirrah http://www.amonline.net.au/FISHES/fishfact...sh/aocellat.htm
  9. Thanks mate, might check em out, good idea.
  10. Hi Warnie any idea how far away from the boat the remote units will work? Cheers
  11. Your gear sounds too light for big drummer. Sounds ok for luderick though. I use a heavier beach rod (6-10kg) and 30LB mono for drummer. Sometimes my rod feels like it's going to break when i hook up 3kg drummer. Peeled prawns and cunje are good for drummer. Use bread to burley them up and use a 1/0 hook either under a float or just floating around in the wash.
  12. Not that i'm aware of... Would be good though haha
  13. Yeah cunje is defo a gun bait...
  14. Ab guts good, but smelly. Peeled royal red prawns have worked well also
  15. I got a couple last week off the rocks on the northern beaches. One was over 2kg. Lost 2 monsters that would have been 3kg plus. I think the big ones are arriving now....

    Go Storm

Go Manly!! Storm are chokers! Brett Stewart first try scorer!
  17. Great to see the mighty Sea Eagles make the grand final!! They were too classy for the cowgirls, also good to see Parra rough them up a bit for us! I'll be at the grand final cheering them on. Fingers crossed.... Go Beaver! (Menzies)
  18. Thanks mate, I'm looking to have a big game Go Manly!
  19. Haha thanks mate. We were due for a good day out, last few sessions just the odd snapper, mowie, jacket etc. We were using heavier gear at the end, 10kg... I started off using light gear ( 3-4kg) but got busted off by a monster trev, then hooked another one and couldnt budge it. So I pulled my kingy outfit out hehe. They still fought real well on the heavier gear, the bigger 50cm ones pulled drag!
  20. Hi Raiders Headed out from Roseville 6am on Saturday and were greeted by good conditions, minimal swell, minimal wind and heaps of sun! Decided to try a few reefs and see what we could find. Started off near Long Reef and anchored up, we threw the burley cage over and rigged up. First fish comes up, a dreaded maori wrasse! Then up comes a big leatherjacket 45cm, kept him. Things weren't looking too good until my mate hooked up a nice fish, after a good fight he pulled in a nice 45 cm trevally. After a while a school of trevally were all around the boat, we had double hookups all over the place. One of the trevally was over 50cm, it was huge. We caught about 8 there within 30 minutes, not to mention about 8 sweep we also caught. Decided to leave the trevs and try elsewhere. Tried around bluefish and wouldn't you know it there were more trevs there! All around 40cm +. It was great fun pulling in these great fighting fish. We kept around 14 total and released about that many as well. We had enough fish for a great feed for us and the relos / neighbours so headed home early, content with all the action. I hope the action is this hot next outing... All fish taken on squid or peeled prawns. Beaver
  21. I would say black drummer too.
  22. Yeah we loaded up on huge slimeys as well at Nth head! They were massive weren't they.
  23. Great feed mate. Looks delicious.
  24. That is a massive pig!!! Well done mate
  25. Hi all With the conditions looking so good lately we decided to have a fish out at long reef last Saturday and look for some nice snapper. We headed out from Roseville ramp to be greeted with the best conditions we have seen for weeks! no swell, no wind, no rain! Everything was looking great for a good snapper session. We actually made it out to Long Reef from Roseville in about 25 minutes going flat out! We got out there and anchored up and started a burley trail. Not long after we started pulling in the dreaded sweep one after the other. Now I read on here that someone said sweep were good to eat so we decided to keep only 2 to see if they taste alright. A little later my rod got a good hit and I was hooked up to something half decent, couple of mins later a nice 43cm Blue Morwong was in the boat! After fishing for 30 mins the wind really picked up and there were white caps everywhere all the other boats got out of there and so did we! Went to Nth head to escape the wind and managed to catch a six spined leather jacket, and 2 trevs (biggest about 40cm). They really do fight well on light gear. All in all not a great day, but we managed to get a feed at least. Also the 2 sweep actually tasted great, better than the leathery in my opinion. Beaver
