  1. Geez it's going to be tough to get a feed of kingfish from the harbour now. 90% of the kings we caught last summer were 55-64cm!!!! I'll be lucky to take one home each outing now... 60 seemed like a good legal size. Why do we need to increase the size when they are in such large numbers now that the ban on pro fishing in the harbour is in place. bloody Iemma
  2. HAHA no i am not the one and only Beaver! But my name is inspired by him lol
  3. I have no doubt it will be a Storm v Manly GF this year. Storm probably deserve to win but stranger things have happened in rugby league. Go Manly! Sea Eagles premiers 2007 -yeah baby!
  4. I just bought a Garmin Etrex Legend for $215 off ebay. It works really well, i'm very happy with it...
  5. If you're land based you can get some yakkas or squid from manly wharf or the gas works. Send them out on a float/balloon and hope for a kingy or salmon if you're lucky. You might get a bream or drummer in the wash if you send a peeled prawn out as well. Good luck, and be careful if you're land based it can get very dangerous down there when there's a swell.
  6. Haha you're in the same boat as most... You could always check it out in the morning from the lookout and if it's too rough fish the harbour somewhere where it's more protected. The swell was huge this morning around the heads!
  7. I think the swell is meant to be around 2 - 2.5 metres tomorrow. Bluefish will be getting pumped by waves if this is the case, probably not ideal conditions to hit bluefish land based tomorrow I would say.
  8. Hey roosterman. Nice fish mate. I think we spoke to you guys at Middle head squidding, you told us you had 4 squid and we had a big fat 0. I'll say gday next time if we see you. We were in a 530 quintrex. Cheers
  9. HAHA that's classic. Nice one!

  11. Sure were, any idea how long the rats will stay in the harbour in these numbers?
  12. Nice fish. CG is still producing the goods.
  13. Good effort mate. Might have to try the yellow marker again sometime soon!
  14. Here's another harbour report for you to read My usual fishing mate decided he would rather do some study as opposed to heading out chasing some harbour kings so I took the folks out for a quick session to show them how the boat handles. I told them to be ready at 6 to leave BUT that didn't happen. Ended up leaving home around 9AM. I thought it would be too late to snare a king but fortunately we got a couple. Anchored up a bit before 10 and sent some squid out. Within 20 mins my rod buckled over and I was on. My old man had net duties and he got it in no problems. Mum loved seeing the kingy. It went 67cms. Told the old man he's taking the next one if it goes off. Sure enough that rod buckles over and he manages to get it out the rod holder and starts fighting it. He did alright and we landed the fish. Around 63cms. He enjoyed landing his first kingy! I was relieved to get a couple while the pressure was on. We only fished for 1 hour then headed back. photos:
  15. Congratulations on another great haul Netic. You are a kingy master. We were also out on the harbour but couldn't manage to nail a single king today for some reason. Tried wedding cake, clifton, and trolled around the heads for zilch. I thought the kings must have been on strike but you have proven this theory wrong! Sounds like you had an adventurous day out there. Well done.
  16. We have got yakkas from Balmoral Island pretty easily the last few trips. Maybe you just need to burley them up a bit better!
  17. I agree that you usually get more hits on lighter gear (20-30lb) in the harbour. We have noticed this on the last few outings. However Saturday was a little different as the fish were hitting the 50lb leaders as well just as frequently, maybe the rats were really hungry that day haha.
  18. Thanks mate. We had 4 rods out all with various strength leaders. Mostly 50lb but the one I lost the fish on was light (20lb). I wanted to see whether I got more hits with a light leader. Ended up losing one and landing one on it.
  19. Mate I think it would have been around 10AM or so. It seems Clifton goes a bit quiet from 10-11 onwards, this may just be me though!
  20. Hi Guys This is my first report. Been reading fishraider for a while and thought I better contribute as I have enjoyed reading other reports. Mate and I launched at Roseville around 6AM to go find some squid for the kings. We tried for about an hour but couldn't manage any at all! We haven't been able to get any the last few attempts. Decided to forget the squid and grab a few yakkas from around the corner. The yakkas were everywhere pulled in 10 in no time. Also saw some big fish below the yakkas, couldn't quite tell what they were though. We spotted a few small schools of kings around the heads and threw a few metals at them with no success. Decided to go try the wedding cake first. I dropped a yakka and it got smashed nearly straight away. My mate was furious that I hooked up before him (again) . Anyway about 30 seconds into the fight my leader gave way and the fish escaped to fight another day. We didn't have to wait much longer before my light outfit went off, after a 5 minute fight a 62cm king was landed. My mate landed the next 2 kings both around 61 cm also. The action then went a bit quiet so we decided to go to clifton. I pulled in a 59cm king which we released straight away. My mate then pulled in a fat Salmon. Decided there was no need to try any other places as we had enough for a feed. All in all 3 keeper kings 61-62 cm's and a 57cm Salmon.
