  1. Really enjoyed your report and appreciate the effort you went to in presenting the solo video. Great stuff.
  2. Sam, appreciated you sharing your tips with this post. Always good to share info and learning some other fishos helpful tips. Finally figured out what the hybrid rig is. Thanks for going to the trouble.
  3. This is starting to read like a bedtime storey....tell me another one Yowie!,
  4. Once again or should it be ..as usual..you always come up with a feed Yowie. I'll revisit the Hacking early next year hopefully to share my catch here as well. Best Wishes Yowie and all Raiders.

Nice feed there Yowie. You always seem to be able to find them. I'd better make an effort to get out there too.

Yowie, your reports are always informative and often we learn something from others (like you) sharing. Just like turning a flattie upside down to see if it will kick on to swim away. I managed a mixed feed including 2 good blue swimmers out of the Hacking weekend before last. I might get out in the bay when it's a bit calm in a week or two.
  7. Good fishing Clay.....you've taken the family trophy there. Dad will be getting jealous after that great whiting you landed a couple of weeks ago.
  8. Great catch on the worms and I agree with your sentiments. Only take the occasional one to feed to the family, so might be time next week for me to have another crack for one as well. Enjoyed your report Gutamouth and nice pics.
  9. Trailcraft43....I reckon this lot are Northern Sand variety. Yowie might confirm as he hold the record for these flatties!
  10. Best wishes to you Saltrix. Looks like you had a great day and are now an official member of UFO.......United Fishing Octagerian! Like you, I hope we all make it to see that sunrise on our 80th.
  11. Following up on Yowies post yesterday, I ventured out with one of my grandsons in what was forecast to be pretty good conditions. We are in 4.2 mtr Brooker tinny so like stick to the calmer days. The swell did have a few bumps but the NW wind was up and put us on a solid SE drift. This was the first time we fished with a 'fishfinder' so our first drop was in 25 metres. Never really new what depth it was up till today. So we started fishing a bit after 8:30 and had two in the ice by 9:00. We never really found a patch of flatties and dropped a couple before we called it at 10:00 with five solid keepers as conditions were becoming uncomfortable. Headed back inside and tried a couple the usual spots and picked up the tailor. He went 35cms and will recycled for bait. We avoided all the pickers and throwbacks to have these five that were from 42 to 46cms.
  12. I'll let you know how we get on Yowie. I'll have a young bloke with me who doesn't travel too well on a bumpy sea so if we can get out for a few hours it will be a good change from inside the Hacking. Not much happening inside so far!
  13. Great report on the Hacking as usual Yowie and good timing. I plan on getting out there tomorrow all being well. Nice catch, always good to get a feed and you always seem to deliver.
  14. I can relate to your post. The whole the sequence, finding a spot, beach worms in metho or freshly pulled, thrill of landing a jew on the beach after a bit of a tussle and that strange musky smell. Even better feeling releasing them in to grow a few more for kgs. Nice catch, well done.
  15. I've always found my healthiest fattest best bream in autumn and winter. Also fishing with fresh beach worms off the beach or structure connected to a beach produced best results that can include whiting, flathead, tailor, salmon mulloway, stringrays and shovelnose shark....all while trying to catch a humble bream.
  16. Nice work again there Yowie. I went out the front there week before last when conditions were ok but couldn't find any keepersafter getting busted off on the first drop! Might see how it looks later this week.
  17. That's an impressive first Mr JF your're holding there Jonno. Always good to have a mentor to guide you to that first elusive jew. Well done.
  18. Now there's a nice tasty catch. Good thing about the Hacking you don't have to motor too far out to get a feed, usually!
  19. Srcatchie, south of Crescent this time.
  20. I left the Hacking to you last week Yowie to come up with this lot. My most productive couple of hours lately.
  21. Change of location had me on the mid north coast. With a 2 hour opportunity I decided half a dozen beach worms would be enough to try for a feed on the incoming tide. With the worms in the bait bucket I started to fish at 4:30pm. The plan was to finish by around 5:30, get back for a quick shower in time to watch Dragons v Sharks over a couple of beers. With a pattenoster rig I had a couple of double hookups with a few average size throwbacks. The final cast to use up the last of the worms resulted in another double with the 80cm+ JF the outcome. By the time I cleanup I missed the first 30mins of the game but under these circumstances I was not complaining.
  22. Nice catch there FunkyJT. We might have been on the same stretch of beach. I caught his twin while having a quick fish for some bream. I'll post my results separately.

    Bate Bay

Yowie...I was going to do exactly the same as you and head out to Bate Bay early this morning. Anyhow plans got changed.....we stayed inside the Hacking (don't ask me why..such good conditions to be out in the bay). Total fish caught, probably 30 or 40.....keepers = 1 flounder. Not happy after seeing your post today Yowie but I should no better!
  24. Nice work there Yowie! A mixed bag is a good outing and you seem to be the master of it. I fished around there Sunday for no keepers but did have two bust offs near Lilli Pilli (assume kingies) and lost another very decent fish off the main channel when I had her in close. Snapped 6lb mono when she decided to take to the bottom again...don't really know what it was but felt like a very decent flattie. Conditions might improve in the Hacking with that bit of colour over the next week or so!
  25. Beautiful specimen Houdini and interesting report on how he came to be in your kitchen. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
