Not an expert at catching drummer but I have caught a few around the northern beaches. I usually fish the low tide using peel green/banana prawns. I have a 6-8 kg rod with a size 4000 reel. 7-10kg line, I use mustad hooks 92554 size 1 . small ball sinkers size 00-3 depending on the conditions. Lots of burley regularly will attract the pigs. I take a couple of small floats just in case but I don't usually use them. Always wear the appropriate safety equipment, and enjoy. I am happy to show/share the liltle knowledge I have. send me a PM if you are interested
Good morning,
I will be spending 4 days in Forster/Tuncurry area, the last week of june. I was there last year and I had some success targeting Jew off the beaches and drummer off the Stones. I was using green prawns for the drummer, mullet fillets and squid for jewies. This time I would like to try some live baits. Is there any land based spots you guys recommend where I can catch live bait?
Thank you

I've tried slide baiting but I'm yet to land something substantial. I saw a guy using this method last summer off the rocks in the Northern beaches, I was intrigued since so I gave it a go and I was not disappointed. I had to do a bit a research prior to trying as the guy who I saw doing it the first time was not very keen in sharing his technique or giving me any tips. I found the below link to be helpful. I hope it helps you a bit, Good luck
