  1. GR8 Work, that's the go...... Thanks for that.
  2. Just a little bit of local knowledge required. Newly moved to Raymond Terrace, I have a 3.95mtr tinnie that I used to put in at Lake Macquarie, and now that I live at the Terrace, was wondering where the best option to try my hand at wetting a line might be. There is a boat ramp at the Fitzgerald Bridge on the Hunter River - Raymond Terrace, or should I try further down, Hexham or maybe around Stocton?? What should I expect to catch here?? Thanks for any input.
  3. Love it when ya get a bit of time off work, and a leave pass from home. Took a good mate (Gazza) away with me for a week, stayed in a van park at Karuah, towed the hobbitt launch up there and fished the river as hard as we could, the wind was a bit of a bugger, spoiling some of our fun, but we ended with 6 fish (3 keeper flatties...40cm, 48cm and 49cm) Although the riiver didn't fish all that well, a great time was had, and of course, the RSL club being a 10minute walk from base made for a well watered and well fed pair of old salts. We even took a day off from the river, and drove up to Roberta territory (G'day Roberta) had a quick flick near the boat ramp at the bridge, to no avail So, what to do?? go to the pub (The one with the pool ) grab some fish n chips and a few coldies...............Argh I tell ya, lifes tough. Home now, and the is on holls' and I do believe Lake Macquarie is calling. Talk then Raiders, CYA.
  4. Hey ''raiders''............ Just got back home from a very quick, short trip up to my dads (Don) house @ Laurieton. A chance to escape the daily grind back home, and catch up with the ol' fella for fathers day wishes and a little bit of LB fishing. Spent 2 days around the fish co-op, armed with the best smelly old servo prawns for bait, lol. Not sure of the final tally, but safe to say roughly a dozen or so throw back fish consisting of squire, bream, flatties and whitting. Of that, there were only 2 keepers (1xflathead & 1xwhitting) I am not going to say (brag) who caught the keepers...............But, I'm sure dad will one day, take a fish or two home of his own, ''one day'' maybe. I had a GR8 couple of days with dad, I managed to take him and his wife out for tea at the RSL, had a top feed. All in all, a fantastic couple of days, and tabled 2 decent fish, which I'm sure the old salt will have for tea tonight.
  5. GR8 WORK, BLOKE. I live up the Central Coast, and fish Lake Macquarie, I have never put it in @ the Hawkesbury, but after reading a couple fishing mags' and your post......... I'm thinking I should have a crack at it.

At the going down of the sun, We will remember them......... Lest we forget.
  7. After an all day affair at the Easter Show, on my one and only day off work Yesterday (Sat) I had intended on going to a truck show up on the Central Coast today, but seemed to have spent way too much $$$$ at the show and I am just too old & tired to be bothered with it, so, I armed myself with the rod and some trusty ol servo prawns to hit Lake Macquarie L.B. to waste an hour or so. Success, one nice fat bream, I have just cooked it, that's dinner out of the way, now I'm gunna have to crash out for a couple of hours B4 I go to work.
  8. Thank you Raiders, appreciate the feed back. Rod.
  9. Not to sure if this is the place to ask, but I live and fish around Lake Macquarie (Central Coast) I see reports on Blue Swimmer Crabs and would like to explore the possibilities In the Lake, crab traps are a NO NO, does this include ''Witches Hats'' I inquired at a local tackle shop where the salesman was only too happy to try and sell me a couple. I would have thought that "Hats" fall under crab traps ?? Can anyone clear this up for me, please ?? Thanks Raiders. Rod.
  10. Yeah, good quality time
  11. A great day out in the boat with the Mrs and the young bloke. Score was Mrs 1 monster flounder (released) Cameron a nice fat 28cm bream and me, squat. I did manage to get busted off though. lol.
  12. Top stuff ''Dad'' I just hope the young bloke keeps up the father and son caper on the fishing front. Unlike a certain 14yr old son of mine, who would rather stay home and play on the computer ALL DAY !!
  13. Top stuff Peter S. Looks like you had a screamer mate...
  14. As per previous post. Bream (Central Coast). Thanks Peter S.
  15. I guess I should start this report off with a belated ''happy Australia day'' to all. How did you put your day in ?? I worked Anyway, after returning home from work last Sun morning at about 3am, I had a power nap and woke to watch the idiot box and a certain ''fishing'' show............ At 530pm, all inspired I grabbed my trusty rod, and months old servo prawns that were hidden at the back of the freezer in the garage and drove 5mins down to a lil fave spot of mine. (Sth side of Raffertys) At waters edge now, lb.... didn't launch the hobbitt tin can' in all of 6 inches of water, cast out over a weed bed. Did this 3 or 4 times and to my absolute surprise my old trusty reel began to scream, What the........ The fight was on, dont drop this Rod.....Dont drop it, come on.......easy does it, Oh yeah. Landed a nice fat healthy bream at 30cm to the fork, 34cm to the tail. Weight ?? Made for a nice feed that night. Pics taken, but I am having some computer probs of late....... Will post at a later date.
  16. Words fail me !!! Ive been that close to sharks in my 3.95m tinnie on Lake Macquarie, with my feet in the boat, and that was enough 4 me.
  17. "H" To the ''young'' one, happy birthday. Hope you all had a grouse day. Regards Rod.
  18. Just a quickie, Went for a stroll along the beach y'day @ 345pm after work, between Budgewoi and Birdie beach and saw several boil ups about 500mtrs out from the beach, all about football field in size... This feeding frenzy lasted quite some time, the seagulls were on to it, and the aromatic senses were in overload. NO camera. NO beach rod. NOTHING. Spectacular none the less. Oh well, might crank up the beach rod n gear ??
  19. Thanks brother, I had no idea. (That's not an invitation to post certain comments from some of our members) Like.......... "Yes Rod, we know....you just have no idea'' Thanks again Geoff. Appreciate it very much.
  20. G'day ''raiders''.... I need to draw on some raider knowledge. If someone could help me out on this, it would be much appreciated. I hear of fisho's making referance to the "Drop Off'' in Lake Macquarie, so where is this place exactly ?? Much thanks in advance. HOBBITT_Fisho without a clue.
  21. Went there myself, I remember that being a most spectacular place, my friends and I played a game of cricket On the sand...... Fantastic. Even though it was about 23yrs ago.
  22. Fair dinkum' no wonder I cant bag a feed with blokes like you hunting the crocs. Well done, great catch. I hate you.
