  1. Good luck and let us know how you go. Frank

    battery box

Neil. The grey plugs on the outside of box are the Anderson plugs, just a means of a quick connection for wiring. Don't forget the rod holders😄. Also do you want me to make up a keeper tank have some bilge pumps here doing nothing, I could make 60-70 ltr keeper tank. Frank
  3. Yarra bay down the end of the container wall, there is a small bommie that need to be avoided and a outlet. sand meets weed and it's where I get my livies most of the time. Frank
  4. Hi all. Making a battery box for BigNeil for his electric motor, thought I would make it a universal box to hold some accessories and make it easy to have certain things at easy reach. Frank
  5. Rick. The Classic is on this week end but I can't find any reference to any other comp in the next few weeks, as long as we can get a cabin it will be OK. Where did you get your information ?. Frank
  6. I won't be going anywhere this week end except in front of my tele watching the Bathurst races. Once a year tele takes preference over everything else including Fishing. Will still be playing with some gear during the many add breaks. Frank
  7. Could be solenoid but also check earth leads, had a similar problem about 50 years ago 2 specialist mechanics later and all sorts of tests done and I took it to an old back yarder mower mechanic in Merrylands, he put a jump lead on and problem found, lead looked OK but just wasn't getting the juice through. Put new earth lead on and problem solved. Frank
  8. Yes mate I have made heaps of bait boards for both glass and alloy boats, no mystery to them just a matter of having the boat close to the welder. I am just thinking of the easiest cheapest way that possibly you could do the job yourself via nuts and bolts. And when I mention floor I am of coarse talking about the rear casting platform. Frank
  9. How about keeping it simple and have 2 x seat pedestal bolted to the floor/seat either side of the motor well, that is IF there is room to mount the pedestal mounts. I OR a fabricator could make you something like this just a matter of space to fit them. Frank
  10. Now switched the upright rod holders to the starboard side with my plyers, knives etc. Frank
  11. Thinking a little more about it and I know you fish mainly solo, so why not have the bait board to one side of the boat at the rear ?, it would be much easier made and placed and probably better than to have to worry about clearing the motor etc and you could also have the board much lower which would also be better. Just a thought. Of coarse this would not help with rod holders but they are easily fitted anywhere. Frank
  12. Shame you are so far away . I could fabricate a you/ beaut cutting board with rod holders bait draw etc. See a local fabricator and they should be able to make something suitable. I would suggest having it bolt to the floor and IF that for some reason is not suitable make one that bolts OR welds to the angled uprights of the transom, would mean disturbing the nice paint job though. Frank
  13. Just a couple of updated photos of my rod locker in progress. Almost done just have to get another metre of carpet to finish it off, will re-do the side lids and make them neater. Used to have these here. Decided to change to this. There will be 8 of these boxes along the bottom of the rods and I plan on having a sample on the outside of what is in the boxes inside so I can choose what box I want before I open the draw to make selection of lures quickly. Will look better when job is finished and all cleaned up. Frank
  14. Welcome aboard. I will be keeping my eye on this thread for sure, nothing I like more than seeing a boat getting pimped. Have done several myself mostly old 2nd hand bits of junk but one new boat which turned out fantastic. Currently building an OLD Brooker 14 footer and just about done. Keep the progress coming. Frank
  15. Good of you to take a first timer out in conditions like that, bet you were wishing he was the one to first loose their load. Fish caught and boat driven, mission accomplished , I would say you have gained a friend for life. Well done. Frank
  16. Trav. Looking forward to meeting you and picking your brain for a piece of your local knowledge. I used to frequent Orange and in particular the Ophir area in my younger days, lived in Orange for 8 months and my Daughter was born in Orange hospital 1970 but the winter was too cold for me so moved back to Sydney. Frank
  17. A few of us old blokes are going to be there 24th-28th Oct and would be pleased to have you tag along with us OR even we could give you some guidance on what gear to use and a few different technics to try. I will have extra rods etc with me and IF you are not using appropriate gear I could lend you the right stuff to get you started, actual spots within the lake I have to learn myself as this will be my first time here, but with some luck we will have some guys there that know the spots. Frank
  18. Hi Raiders. BigNeil and myself are going to lake Windamere on 24th till 28th October to try for some Yellabelly , T_bert 83 and Rickmarlin have shown interest and are possible starters. We will be hiring a cabin for comfort and at this point Neil will take his boat and Neil and I will share it. IF anyone wants to come from Sydney and wants to come up with me I will take my boat up as well as Neils boat only fished 2 comfortably . It will be here before we know it so please don't leave it till the last minute to let either Myself OR BigNeil know so we can make final arrangements. If someone wants to come up with me they need to be prepared to stay the 4 days as I don't want to have to bring them home early. My boat can fish 3 comfortably and is pretty well equipped for lake fishing with 100ltr keeper tank downrigger and plenty of rod holders. I also have plenty of rod etc IF they need anything. Looking forward to someone joining us, I know it's not easy for most people to have 4 days away but hope there is a member that wishes to have a trip away. Frank
  19. Just to update about the trip to Windy. The dates have been changed to 24th through to 28th Oct. Frank

  22. On google maps find where Forest Rd ends at Lugarno seafoods you will see on the map over water Edith Bay look on the shore line where the Y in bay is and you will see the rock, you will have to zoom in pretty close. Frank PS It's about 2 1/2 k's upstream from Como bridge
  23. Go up to Lugarno and where the punt used to cross ( you can still see the ramp skids ) on the north side about 80 metres to the right of the skids, fish shop going back towards Como there is a large rock . Fish around that for Bream and Gars, I used to use cheese for bait and the Bream love it. Good luck let us know how you go. 1 hour before and up to 1 hour after high tide. Frank
  24. Jay. I would need to have a look at your trailer in detail to tell you what would be needed to turn it into a drive on/off trailer, probably not a lot by the looks of it, the main thing is your ability and confidence in driving the thing on, for some people it's a frightening experience till they do it a couple of times and then they say Why didn't I do this ages ago. Send a series of photos mainly of the back of the trailer to fastrailers@optusnet.com.au and I will see what need to happen next. Cheers Frank
  25. Here's one I like I called it " sails from different ages " being the sails from an old tall ship dwarfing the sails from the opera house. Want more ? Frank
