  1. very good mate of mine works as orderly at Concorde Hospital (36 years ) and he often tells me of fish boils he sees out the windows of the Hospital. He works afternoon shift so I would guess he sees the schools in the afternoon. He recons it would be well worth the effort to go have a try. Frank

I have 1\2 dozen large rounds of Camphor Laurel and a lathe !! Maybe I should run up a few spools, HaHa . Frank
  3. Zoran. Sorry to hear that your loved ones are suffering, there are some very good E N T specialists in Sydney and treatment should see the problem gone. Nice to know you enjoy your guitars, I have a Fender acoustic here I haven't played for years it's a model F-35 in fair to good condition. looking to sell it, do you know anyone that may be interested ?. With the straps you have put under the Xmembers. Hope no salt gets caught between the two metals, I'm sure you will wash them down after each trip but don't let the salt dry before washing or it could lead to problems down the track. Frank
  4. Zoren. Excellent work mate, have been wondering where you were. Your work bench looks a bit like mine. Frank
  5. Perhaps throw a set of jumper leads in the boat and you could jump the main motor from the electric battery if it happens again. Frank
  6. I used to use the ramp often and not only seen many trailers get stuck but when there is a bit of a surge the loading pylons account for lots of damage, I have seen boats get stuck under the structure bow rails bent and the amount of nav lights that get crushed and plastic rod holders etc not to mention fingers etc. On a calmish day it's a good ramp if not busy but when there is a bit of a sea happening it's a place to avoid unless you are experienced. Frank
  7. Jarvis Walker aurora estuary blackfish 3 metre (10 ft) cast weight 14-40 g 3-6 kg line class with a light - medium action 2 piece. Under $100 and a fantastic Bream rod. My choice for Bream although I use a Daiwa Capricorn 2500 spin reel with it for Bream and a fixed spool blackfish reel for Luderick ( that is IF I ever get to go Luderick fishing again ). Frank.
  8. I think it is a 6 spined leatherjacket and they are excellent eating. Lighter in colour when first captured but go dark when they die. that one would be approaching maximum size. Frank
  9. Sam been waiting to hear from you about that roller ?. Well done on the mixed bag, those Jackets are great on the table and easy to catch, clean and cook. Frank

    Keys misplaced

Fab. I'm like you never take the key out of the ignition. I misplaced my car keys a couple of months back, for 2 days I was searching high and low for them, didn't have a spare so needed to have the car towed to a Holden dealer to have another key made which would have been pretty expensive. Ended up finding them after 2 days in a plant pot under the letter box. Frank
  11. Could be a juvenile Hapuka, . Second thoughts looks like "wcurrall " is on the money. Frank

Noel. The Pongrass were designed by Naval arcetehcs ( spelling ) and are still one of the best designs going, remarkable sea going boats. I caught many of my firsts in these boats including my first marlin, cobia, kingfish, wahoo, etc etc etc , probably the smoothest ocean going boat I have been in including the seafaries haines etc. Only reason I'm selling it is so Val doesn't have the problem when I die. Is 48 years old, old enough ?. 1972 Pongrass Waverider, currently has 90hp Johnson extra long shaft on it's rear. Had to do a jack plate so the motor would fit on. Lots of fish come over the side of this one. Going to buy a trailer for it tomorrow ( if it's suitable ) Boat currently up for sale as project boat. Frank
  14. That looks like a Mallacoota Flathead to me. Jon your daughter's are truly great fishers and keep coming up with remarkable catches and top photos. Frank
  15. I have a fish watch but have not got a clue how to set it so it sits on a shelf gathering dust. I have had several young people try to set it for me but they all give up and hand the watch back to me. I used to keep records of my trips for years and when I got a computer made a program ( before windows ) that allowed me to use it. Then some time in the 80's I bought this which does the job , tells you exactly what you need to know and it really works. Haven't used it now for years buy every now and then I put a battery in it and have a play with it. Magic tool. Frank
  16. Sam. Send me a photo of the type roller you need. fastrailers@optusnet.com.au There's a good chance I would have one here and I could drop it around for you. Well done on the fishing BTW. Frank
  17. Scratchie. Get into it mate. I have been trying to talk a mate into going up with me this week end as well but unfortunately he can not make it. I can't do it by myself so just have to say good luck and let us know how you go with some photos of the chrome bumpers. PS. All I will say about the moon is " Moon over head and Moon under foot " Frank

    Wood Lathe

Metal lathes are great fun too but much more expensive to set up and tools etc are never ending, there's always something extra you have to have. But again very handy to have for making stuff. Frank

    Wood Lathe

You could set yourself up with a decent lathe and tools for under $1000 and yes it is a great way to spend some time away from the usual chores and such. I don't have a wood lathe but have a small metal lathe that I often put a lump of 4x4 hardwood in and turn down to something. Good challenge is to make a chess set, you can make all pieces other than the knights on the lathe and it's just your imagination as to how big you want the pieces to be. Very messy and some skill needed but a lot of enjoyment . PM me if you want the best closest place to buy tools. Frank
  21. Every now and then we have a season where the Hairtail just don't show up. I think this year may be one of those seasons. Hope I'm wrong. Frank
  22. A couple of years ago they had a blitz on overweight trailers and had portable weigh stations at selected ramps at random times, caught heaps of overweight boat trailers and I think a flat top was called and the trailer towed to the pound, don't know how the owners went about getting their boats back. Carasel and trailer places had a ball selling all the extra brake set ups. Frank
  23. Almost ashamed to admit it but I have done that trick more then once. Frank
