  4. this thread got me thinking so i grabbed my multi meter and put + lead to bat + and the - to the hull and got 14.7v motor running while i was flushing so it must be earthing through the donk is this normal or do i have a problem .

  7. yes i miss it , and the last bit of my previous post is wrong i meant the cc was better fitted out the haines hunters were just basic boats
  8. i forgot to mention i'm no stranger to the a CC boat ok it took me most of the day but i found my old copy of fitting out for sport fishing yep i'm getting old circa 1987 and here is a pic of the same model of Quintrex CC 5 meter i bought in 1990 but if you look in the red circle you will see a plug they were for 2 pedestal seats they were great for soaking baits in the river and when i went off shore they were left at home , my boat had a Suzuki 85HP it got along pretty good and although at rest it was the best boat i had had to fish out of the haines hunters that i owned over the years were a lot softer riding and better fitted out .
  9. with how much you lose on selling a boat thats just 4 months old theirs no way i'm selling it
  10. That is the question i am asking myself ATN hmmmmmmm but the more i think about it the more i like the idea , as now i have a boat i use it more outside in the ocean than i do chasing bream and other estuary fish . has anyone done it and if so what are the pit falls (besides a wad of cash) it will mean moving the battery down the back and a hole new rewire that doesn't concern me as i will do that my self and at least this time it will be done right . this is what i have in mind it is a 4.2M blue fin with a 40HP 4 stroke . to put this in to this any advice appreciated .

    E10 Fuel

nope as i wrote it just talk to any good hi performance engineer and it bears truth with timed cuts with my chainsaw collection , in the stock saws with just 140 to 160 psi when you put 98ron in them they cut slower but when you put 98ron in my ported saws with 220 to 240psi you better be on your guard as they pull like buggery . and on the premium fuel and 2 stroke just use full synthetic but you better be sitting down when you get the price for 5 lt .

    E10 Fuel

flatheadluke thats not different to what i said it the same the reason you can get 98ron is for high comp cars like the high performance holdens fords and all the European stuff now outboards in general don't have enough to get the benefit out out of it now a prime example of this is diesel very low octane but more energy than avgas but you need 350 plus psi comp to burn it . the general rule of thumb is low comp low octane high energy fuel and high comp high octane low energy fuel .

    E10 Fuel

and don't be surprised when you find out that you used more fuel and got a slower WOT as you need higher compression than you have to get the energy out of high octane fuel . the higher the octane the less energy it has hence the higher the compression you need to get the best out of it . and another thing that E10 does to 2 strokes is cause more wear as the ethanol wash's the oil off the bearings and the cylinder walls hence less protection from the oil .
  14. i bought a cheapo action camera and while it ain't no gopro in the quality stakes for $50 it does ok just here is today's results offshore .
  15. did someone mention a handle this got me thinking yep thats dangerous. oh look theres one and now it's on here haha cheers TAC
  16. i was thinking of one but the only place i would put it would be on the lid to assist unscrewing
  17. gday Neil , i didn't it go's up the front in the hatch under the casting deck out of the way . cheers TAC
  18. gave that a thought for a while but it would probably get busted off as i go out in some pretty rough conditions at times . and the foam came from kmart they sell 2 types one a camping mat and a yoga mat funny thing is the yoga mat is $4 dearer and they are the same haha . i use this stuff for a lot of things for $7 bucks it's handy to have around .
  19. Safety gear prep is often overlooked on small boats so now that i'm back on the water and especially in the big paddock (off shore) i figured i would put together a strong tube for my epirb and flares plus i made it big enough to fit other stuff in like spare battery's for torches and a VHF hand held as backup . and because it is in a small boat i lined it with closed cell foam to absorb the shock from inevitable pounding we get out there in a tinny , so i got some 6 inch pipe end cap and the threaded end the glue i had from a previous project for stainless steel wet tumbling . anyway here are some pics .
  20. Hmmmmmmmmmm mako i love mako . top day congrats
