  1. The electric motor will open doors. A whole new style of fishing. I was also one of the lucky who got to attach a GPS capable trolling motor. Absolutely an amazing game changer. RED HOT TIP for young players. Anderson plugs, keep them coated inb fishoil and inspect regulary as they are notorious for rust and corrosion, even in they are hidden. I speak from experience haha. Do you fishing brizzy waters often?
  2. During the weekend we have been working Lostock a bit, we only settled with the bass we got on Good Friday. We decided to hit up some saltwater fishing to conclude our weekend before drew had to fly back to brisvegas. Having a slight sleep in this morning we were on the water at around 7.30 launching at lemon tree passage. We zipped up the oyster racks casting hard body's and plastics landing a bream and some small flathead. We proceeded towards soldiers point bad found some more oyster racks and bang!!!!! I pulled up a nice 51cm flathead then drew pulled in a 53cm. We were both happy with the results. Both were cuaght on soft plastics zman and nemesis. Everything was safely released and we were both happy with the results. No expectations no plan. Just enjoyment.
  3. Guess you can't argue with those results, nice catch
  4. Heading back this sarvo for some more action!!!
  5. 54 inch 54lb 12v. Wasn't impressed it didnt come with a fuse and holder, ill have to suss one out over the weekend.
  6. Raiders, A good start to the long weekend with a GOOD CATCH on GOOD FRIDAY. No complaints on size. Left town at 5am, arrived around 6 ish with boat in the water nice and early. Great weather, maybe 5 knots wind in some areas and plenty of fog. Was not to cold and great chance to test out the new minn kota. My buddy Drew from Brizzy come down for the weekend (bit of a regular thing on easter). Seen plenty of bass on the sounder as well! Smashed the first Bass (40cms) on about the third cast with a cicada lure. My main man Drew had caught his first decent bass on a zman grub in the ledges measuring about 45cms. Knocked off around 11am. All fish were released! No anticipation but looking to find some more over the weekend.
  7. Soooo for an update I didn't end up following through with the conversion. I did how ever get a new MK. Regarding the old one I'll probably put him for sale soon. looking forward to testing the new MK out! It should be good!
  8. Looking good, sounds like i lucked out with all that beautful weather we had recently
  9. Great fish! I was obviously doing something wrong! I was out at the sisters all morning lol
  10. Nice report, Pink tassies everytime. Lovely looking specimens.
  11. Many factors come into play. Confidence, expereince, the right day, the appropriate equipment plus many more. Its very misunderstonnd you can simply jump in a 7.5 meter plate boat and your on your way. Still need to consider all the criteria. Ask your self these 10 simply Questions 1. Am I ok to drive that far from land 2. What are my redundencys 3. Do I have the appriopriate safety equipment 4. Is everything is working order 5. What is my emergency plan 6. Do I have enough fuel 7. What is the sea state 8. What is the weather doing now and later 9. Communications 10. BE PREPARED TO CALL IT OFF I would in a heart beat take my 420 renegade that far off shore but many others wont, it comes down to experience and common sense. Dont ignore experience but at the same time don't not go because you lack it, just do it safely and be prepared to call it off.
  12. Yes how ever when things go wrong they go wrong quick, I recall one time with work driving a RHIB around and the coxswain became a Man Over board after hitting some idiots wake, very very lucky he was wearing the kill cord. They are a pain in the ass but they can save a passengers life, especially if people cant react straight away to shut the motor down.
  13. Life jackets are getting more conveint, comfortable and not as bulky. The type 100 self inflating PFDs are great plus they have all the bells and whistles (literally). One thing I advise is always connect the safety cord where reasonably practicable.
  14. I think a solution would be either to hold massive carp comps or Convince people they are really GOOD eating and eventually people will believe it and they will catch them like hot cakes lol
  15. Looking good, they better be on the chew this weekend.
  16. Send me a PM if you feel like a trip up Newcastle way. Ill put you onto impound Bass.
  17. Sounds alright, was going to use the rivet option how ever my POS rivet popper broke and lucky i found some SS screws how ever did not have the right size bit for them......... It took some serious thinking as I wasnted to not drill holes through the exterier of the console and I wanted the nasty sun rays to keep out. I mounted my extinguisher at the FWD end of the side pocketright near the steering wheel.
  18. Thanks bud, Opinions are like adventure kings car awnings, everyones got one.....lol Best thing about xxxx its simple, 1 per hour on the hour and set and forget
  19. Raiders, I have fianlly made some effort and purchased an EPIRB. I guess you cant put a price on safety, anyway it took a weekend to workout how I was going to mount it. A little bit of research going through boat sales I did not have much luck to see where others have mounted theirs. In the end I had a look through the shed and found some alluminium flat bar and started making a bracket. I I basically screwed the flatbar in the interior of the side console and then screwed the epirb in there. If anyone is thinking on doing the same then this spot is very suitable. Out of the sun and the way.
  20. Hey mate, Absolutely. In my video I have stated I take it to Broughton island. I also go a few miles off shore broken bay as well. I guess it comes down to personal risk assessment but I have seen plenty of 420 renes out side.
  21. I fully agree with what your saying, $900 is a lot to dump on a 15 year old trolling motor lol.
  22. Lol I caught one about that size once, thought I could troll around with it. Got nothing so gave him a good home. made me realise, next one i catch is going straight into the chilly bin
  23. Based on your bigs it would be worth getting the cross members replaced on the really rusty ones. It doesnt have to be bent either you can weld a straight peice of gal RHS on to it. If you have a mate with a MIG that does good welds your already half way there. As for the rust spotting get a scotchbrite wheel and strip it back, prep and paint it. It will keep you out of trouble. Biggest thing to look out for are rusty axels, as soon as they pit they can cause issues.
