  1. Now is a great time if you want to tangle with some noahs. I use a meter of 124lb single strand wire between a 12/0 hook and a 150lb swivel. A haywire twist is the easiest way of making a good connection. Spin up a live sambo and lightly pin him behind the head then wack the whole lot out under a baloon and your in buisness. Ooooooh yeah!
  2. The Tubes and Beecroft, a mecca for LBG fisherman
  3. Il pay that Zenman, the hawksbury doesn't like me either. Darkhorse, make sure you move around, I just had a month long dry spell flogging the same ledge, I moved and now my fridge is filled with king fillets..... stick it out
  4. Hey mate, If the species you are chasing hunts at night then artificials can work really well. I target bass, ep's, big flatties and jew all at night with lures with success. There's nothing like a hookup in darkness to wake you up in a hurry
  5. So is there an alternative to the bucket and aerator I use?
  6. Hey Kirks, This is similar to the setup you will need but generally if you need to cart your livies over land then the bucket has to be much bigger. The one hose goes from the aerator through a small hole in the buckets lid. The stone on the end should keep it well down i the tank. Cheers Bobfish
  7. Hell yeah Chewsta, nice beakie. Thats a great way to turn a crap day on its head
  8. Weird eggs there.... right.... but why is there a frog in the picture??
  9. Nice work there Kirks, there's nothing like an early morning spin sesh If you wanna increase your chances of hookup whilst using metals you could upgrade your trebles to owner stingers, and add another split ring between the hook and the lure. I've found this easily doubles my hookup rate and is well worth the extra $2 per lure Remember Kirks, the early bird catches the worm! Cheers mate Bobfish
  10. Nice pigeon pair there Zenman, its great to see a few mullas coming in The fishing diary is a great idea. I sometimes think I should insure mine its that good. The information can be misleading though, I spent a week on a ledge that a year ago produced a heap of hoodlums for me, for not even one run... a pinch of salt is needed at all times Cheers mate Bobfish
  11. I guess thats the beauty of this sport, there is always "a river somewhere" unexplored "Hmmmm I am assuming it is a bass & not an ep??" Looks like a nice bass to me Roberta. I've never noticed the tail being different, just the eyes, coloring and head. Hey Jewgaffer, yes, it was very out of character. I resisted the urge for nets and such, although I did don my favorite backyard cricket hat and my loud drinking shirt instead.
  12. Thats some awesome fishing Roberta, what a way to beat the crowds You didn't visit the glauchester region by any chance? I spent my christmas there as well as the barrington tops, and didn't pack my rods..... i suffered every day looking at crystal creeks and rocky streams! Hahah
  13. "The Recreational Fishing Trusts are providing ongoing funding for fifteen fisheries officers positions, nine coastal and six inland. The nine coastal officers are based in the Clarence, Hastings, Port Stephens, Hunter, Sydney (2), Shoalhaven, Batemans Bay, and Far South Coast regions. The six inland officers are based at Inverell, Buronga, Albury, Bathurst, Wellington and Jindabyne." I found this on the NSW DPI web site. The Sydney officers must be seriously overworked, having to manage a city with a population of 4.3 million people. No wonder a lot of people have never been checked, there is only two of them!!!!
  14. Mate i said casually persuade not get in their face. I find if you are respectful of people they are more receptive to you and may just not understand the rules. I bet you wouldn't like to see a fisheries officer when you accepted that bag of undersized fish, "no officer, Im holding it for a mate"
  15. Thanks for that number johnno, I may well use it in the future. The question though is where are the fisheries officers? I fish an average of three times a week in metropolitan sydney and have NEVER been asked for my licence
  16. Unfortunately mate this seems to be the norm. I feel its my right as a law abiding citizen to casually persuade these people to release the said fish. I've had people say "Im keeping it to show my kids" what the hell? If they know your serious, they will put the fish back
  17. Hey Zenman, Im keen as, and will send that Pm no worries at all. Have you had a poke around long reef recently? With this big swell abating, might be a chance. Ive been hitting north narra with livies lately with not much success. Cheers, and thanks for the offer mate Bobfish
  18. Momoi flurocarbon all the way. Cant knock it
  19. danfish, Yakkas and slime can be readily caught before sunrise, just get the burley going. Sometimes they're so thick you can spin them up at lunchtime
  20. I'll be sulking because of the weather good thing i have next week off Tight lines guys!
  21. The sad thing is yes, replacement was my only option. Grrrr. I wish I had taken a pic of the break now, it was pretty clinical
  22. funny as. I think this one may be a land slide. When I voted it was 85% no. Get behind it!
  23. No im not "shitting" you and yes I broke both rods regardless of whether you believe it or not. I broke one and had it replaced immediately (same day) by daiwa, I broke the next one a week later, same story. I was running the recommended line rating and casting 80g metals, also within spec. Both rods broke at the ferrule with a clean edge, indicating a manufacturing fault not operator error. You may have loaded this rod in a store but im talking about my two particular rods, which each had manufacturing faults. You know it can happen? yes it can
