  1. Nice work Sails, i was there flicking plastics when you got her in, i especially liked the commentary you provided for the onlookers. Very entertaining indeed!
  2. Waynie, As I see it every angler has his or hers preferred way of catching fish, whether its trolling huge livies off the coast or poppering for whiting. So your gonna have some very mixed opinions too. You are right about there not being a "holy grail" on understanding fishing but if your gonna give a notice to all anglers, dont try and deterr them from studying their theory. Fishing to me isn't just about the practical side of things. You wouldn't choose that spot on the neapean or flick those particular lures unless you had combined the informations of previous trips to acertain what you think is the right way to catch bass. So why not organise this information? As it is NOT detrimental to your mental or physical health. I have a fishing diary and use it to good affect, the two minutes it takes to fill in after a session does not, in my opinion take up valuable fishing time. Cheers, Bobfish
  3. I say, if in doubt catch it yourself
  4. Hey Raiders, Now that the flatties are starting to wake up again I ventured out today to have a flick. I was out for an hour before and after high tide. The weather was perfect! I flicked at the usual drop-offs but found the fish in shallow fast running water, hence the heavy jig-heads. Im hoping to break the 90cm mark this season, so i'll mainly be spinning with softies 100mm and greater....the only problem with this is that everything under 90cm is by-catch!!!!!! A couple of pics of the by-catch from this arvo.... great fun though!
  5. Thanks for the advice guys! I have much thinking to do, the itch shall be scratched later im guessing..... Jewgaffer, Im negotiating holidays at the moment so I can visit Ballina in summer. Work is absolutely hectic now so I have to wait Thats the beauty of a holiday house, its there anytime you need it! Cheers, Bobfish
  6. Hey Raiders, Ive got an itch to try my hand at salt water fly fishing and just wonder if there are any raiders well versed in the art?? If so, can catch rates be as high as is seen with softies and hardbodies used with spinning? Ive done a little reading and it seems to be described as "challenging" quite often.... Cheers, Bobfish
  7. Hey Trevor, Im not sure what the norm is but using some very valuable fore thought i decided to buy one light spin, one light baitcast outfit, a heavy spin and baitcast, 2 beach rods (one heavy one light), a heavy overhead for boating and am now in the process of aquiring a fly fishing outfit. Why the forethought? Because I bought the best of the best and have a purpose for every combo. I have no unused rods sitting idle, (bar the ragoon stick my grandfather built!) and intend to make em last. Cheers, Bobfish
  8. Mrsswordfisherman, Is there any chance you could post the dimensions of the stickers? sounds stupid but i wana know if they'll fit my yak!!!! Cheers, Bobfish
  9. Yeah, i encountered this problem whilst running crystal but with a slight change in technique and the new braid- problem solved. I lapped the drag washers too, this has improved the drag out of sight, its smoothas now there's no stop start anymore Bobfish
  10. Hey Ronald, Im running the 4lb TD-sensor and yeah the trebles are slightly bigger than standard....well spotted. Ive also decided to keep my G loomis for snag casting, due to its grunt down low. For the flats i bought this Okuma Celilo which is a 1-3kg 6'6'' rod......super whippy and and can sling an unweighted softie a mile. Bling Bling indeed. How do you like the Stradic??? I cant fault them at all. Cheers mate, Bobfish PS. I measured the Td-sensor with digital verniers and it came to 0.08mm thats eight hundredths of a mil
  11. Hey Rzep, The whiting came in at 32cm, a new best on lure! Here is the towadie
  12. Hey Raiders, Its been pretty quiet on the home front recently with too much work and too little play Ive been chasing Ep's at the moment and have caught 7 all up, mostly from manly lagoon but also from narrabeen lake. My biggest came in around 35cm and tell you what these suckers pull! After seeing reports of these natives i just had to get one. I will remember my camera next time Anyhow, after buying some new lures i went on an "action testing" session, concentrating on casting accuracy and different surface tequniques. Im a nerd i know. I fished the Narrabeen flats for an hour and got these two on a Smiths Towadie surface plug, it was definatly a first to get both a flattie and a whiting on a surface lure. Much fun indeed
  13. Hutts, Nice bream there mate, well done on the firs t
  14. Thats gotta be the best no-fish report ive read, well done jewgaffer and hope you feel better soon
  15. Hey Kingsrule, Hows the bearing on your bail arm? If its not turning freely it may be creating too much resistance on your line creating a twist......tangles can be a symptom of this problem. Cheers, Bob
  16. Did they gang up on you mate?
  17. Glad to see you have them sorted, my work here is done Im pulling my hair out a bit too, im just gonna use it as a chance to stock up on bait and get my tackle ready for spring Better luck next time, Bobfish

  20. I agree with Pete, Your a very enterprising woman Roberta, you kayak, make biltong, can fix broken things and not only do you collect your own bait and rig your own tackle (this supasses any girl ive ever met ) but you also catch serious ammounts of fish. Unbelieveable You dont have a daughter do you? Bobfish
