  1. Here is hoping for the first Marlin of the season. A marlin was lost off Kiama on the weekend, so the numbers cant be too far away.
  2. Any one been out wide for a tuna fish lately? Been very quiet out there this year. Cheers Luke
  3. Hey Mark, Yes mate it was me on the bike, you guys were just about to hoe down on some hamburgers. Unbelievable how you just meet people once then end up catching up with them again. Good luck, hopefully into some good tuna soon. Cheers Luke.
  4. Hey MArk, did your dad pick the boat up a coffs harbour last year? IF SO I THINK I WAS HAVING A BIT OF A CHAT TO HIM WHEN HE WAS FILLING IT UP. NICE BOAT. cONGRATS ON THE FISH. CHEERS LUKE.
  5. When i was down there last december some bastards tried to shash my window in myola ramp car park. Theres bush tracks for them to get away down everywhere. Best thing to do is park just upm the road in front of the locals houses, its heaps safer.
  6. Hi reelmagic, did you fish friday or saturday? I fished out of kiama on friday, we didnt have any bait past 55 fathoms. Trolled south then fished the bottom for a couple of blueye to 8kg, then troll a little wide of kiama canyons for zero. How wide did you find the fish?
  7. Yeah they sure are great eating.
  8. Great stuff boys, congrats on the marlin.
  9. Hi, The wife and i fished out of Kiama Yesterday, left ramp at 650 and headed to get some bait. With a tank full of livies the plan was to drop to the bottom wide, however with early reports on the radio of 4 marlin caught before 800 we decided to heve a troll first. Trolled from 60 fathoms to blueye ground for nothing. However a couple of hours of deep droping we bagged out on gemfish and a couple of perch and also this harpuka which went 19.2kg. Awesome day out weatherwise. Luke
  10. Hi John, Its a cabo killa in aussie evil.
  11. I just left coffs harbour, and the small blacks are just showing up there now.
  12. Hi Col, no i didnt keep and freeze it, looking back i should have, however i did leave it to a local who was interested in it.
  13. Hi, We recently got back from Coffs, up there fpr 3 weeks and some excelent fishing. Didnt come home empty handed on one trip. First day out headed out to try for some livies, only managed 1 very small mackeral, so off th the fad we went, within 2 minutes dollie takes one and only livey and we end up with this the smallest of our dollies. Ended up with 3 other dolphin fish this day on the troll on shelf, this one caught by my wife Lisa and the biggest of our trip going 10kg. Next trip we once again headed to the shelf wide to 500fathoms and 30 mile north for zeros, so we headed back towards home and got another dollie on troll about 7kg.Reset lures and continue to troll in around 50 fathoms and long rigger goes off, by time lines were cleared about 300m of line is gone , up comes this monster of a marlin, its a blue i yell as i start the fight, shortly after i see some splashes near the marlin then the line goes loose, a dolphin swam through the line and cut us off, so off swins the marlin with my favourite lure, wind on and about 30m line. Next trip out with the boys for mixed bag of snapper and reefies and another dollie that went 5.5kg. Inside the one of the dollies i found this A baby marlin, i couldnt believe it, the dorsal fin was there and the bill was rough. Next trip with Lisa to the shelf we trolled all day along shelf, then went inside to where some bait was, drifted with livers out for 2 hours for nothing so back onto the troll, within 30 min short corner goes off and i give rod to Lisa with a marlin hooked while i clear the decks.Shortly after she has a nice stripe marlin aprox 60kg boatside, tag goes in and i trace fish to get hooks out, but he wasnt done yet, thraching next to boat with a fast whip of tail it came uo the side of the boat and hits the bbq regulator with its bill and snaps it in half so reg and bottle is floating out to sea. Hooks removed and swam him for a few minutes and off it swam back dowm to the deep. Lisa got her first marlin and we had a ripper of a trip. Cheers Luke.
  14. Hi Rob, I live near Kiama, and can vouch for Minnamurra. Up the mouth end is beautiful and you can beach your boat on the beach side of river for bbq lunch etc.Awesome swimming. Ive heard of some good reports of nice flatties caught on runout tide too. Just watch up near the bridge at low tide it can get a bit shallow. As for SGB ive never been there. Cheers Luke.

  17. Spooled, The guy who told me that the albacore were off bass point went to Kiama canyons and cubed all day for one small fin about 10kg. They wont be too far off though. Let me know if youre out one wend maby meet up one day.
  18. I headed out again today the bait was still there and sonethibg was chasing it but wasnt interested in anything we had. Red we were getting them from rangoon to windang islands in 35 fathoms.
  19. Gday mate, I have 115 etec. I dont know about the height thing but to flush you need muffs on the water intake behind prop, i think the hole youre talking about is just below the water outlet and it can be use ful for washing out motor when not started if in caraven park of late at night. But to my knowledgr it only flushes top end. Ps im from mt warrigal let me know if i can help any further, maby catch up on water some time. Who fitted up the motor for you ***** marine? Cheers LUke
  20. Good stuff mate. Congrats on early marlin. Missed your talk at KGFC meeting other night, really wanted to get there but couldnt make it. The marlin shouldnt be too far from Kiama region now.
  21. Hi, Headed out with the missus today from Shellhaebour ramp,We launched the boat at 330pm and headed a few ks out off bass point. There were birds working everywhere so we troll over near them with bibbed minows and 4 inch skirts.Nothing there so head out a little further to about 75m of water then minow on snapper rod goes off folllowed by a skirt, short fight and two small albacore about 3-5kg are boarded at about 4pm.Reset lures and within 5 mins we have a double hookup again about same size .Then a triple hookup and lines nearly tangled saw three more boarded. All within 5 ks of harbour.. With a good feed on board we headed back to harbour and had fish and boat cleaned by 530pm. What an action packed afternoon of fishing. Any one in small boats wanting a bit of good action should head out tomorrow while theyre there. Cheers Luke
  22. Went out for a look yesterday, hoping maby for an albacore. We started trollling north of Kiama canyons and headed south, the water didnt get above 17.4 so decieded to have a few drops to the bottom to try out net miya epoch reel. First coupleof drops got only greeneye shark, so we move to another location. Drop down again to 300m ang get a good bite, so i start up the reel and this time it was much heavier than before so i recon it must have been a blueye of ok size. With 40m of line left i notice a whale coming straight at the back of the boat about 50m behind, so as soon as the line was in i was going to get out of the way, next thing the rod starts bouncing around with the fish on then the motor on the reel stops at first i thought a battery clip had come off , then the 50kg of drag starts pulling of my reel, about 10m of line and then pop, the 170lb braid broke, the whale had either mistakenly swam through the line or attacked the fish.We couldnt believe our eyes. After moving again and re riggging we ended up with one gemfish and a nice jackass mowie, before we left for home to beat the wind. Luke.
  23. Hi KTID, Tuna have been very quiet down here on the south coast, the water is still very cold, the warmer water is still about 90mile out. There have been some good reports og blueye and gemmies though if youre interested. Good luck.
