  1. Hi, Just wondering if anyone has been fishing down deep lately, and if there has been many blueye, gemmies etc around. Thanks Luke
  2. Congrats on the tuna. Nice boat too.
  3. Thanks bob, Just a question, does the half cut pipe fit into the full pipe for puoring of lead? Cheers Luke
  4. Hi Choeto, They were fads put out by one of the local charter boats, they were balls like fenders attached to the bottom out past the shelf, so they generally held better dollies. Cheers Luke
  5. Im looking for a custom rod to be built to suit a Large miya epoch reel probably 130bl. Any help would be much appreciated. Luke.
  6. Did it put up much of a fight?
  7. Interesting chart, Last week fisheries were at the harbour measuring lengths etc, when i went out ant the figures were as follows: Fork 121cm weight 28.5kg Fork 120cm weight 27.5kg fork 100cm weight 16.5kg I do realise the chart is estimate, fair difference though, and fish were fat too.
  8. Nice fish mate, did it get a bit rough out there in the arvo, as i was going to go for an arvo fish but didnt because the wind was gusting to 22kts. Well done.
  9. Sphewin about no fish, but least it beats work like most of us.
  10. Hi all, Just a question, how far back down the trail do you guys float down your baits when cubing? Cheers LUke
  11. Gday mate, I often launch from Kiama to the canyons and its about 30k from the harbour. There have been heaps of albacore on the shelf at Kiama and some fin at the canyons but the good water has pushed out a bit wider now.(but you will get em on the cube thereP) If your motor is reliable and you log on with Coastal patrol At Port, on a good day (like they have been lately) you shouldnt have a problem out there, theres always others fishing at the canyons also. Cheers LUke
  12. Its a 5.8m custom platey. And yes i do bleed the tuna, it makes a hell of a mess though.
  13. Yeah mate its just bare aluminium. We were in about 800 fathoms. What depth did you get yours in?
  14. what water temp did you have?
  15. Hi all, fished wid eoff Shellharbour Today, trolled and cooked up bacon on toastfor breaky till we find temp break and then cubed. First fish came about in 30min and weighed 16.5kg. Second fish the missus was on and it went 27.5kg. Last fish i was on and it went 28.5kg. Left at 130pm to head for home, the water was like glass, 25kts all the way. The fin were full of our cubes when we cut em up. Great day out
  16. I have a 115hp etec on my 5.5 platey, and couldnt be happier with it. It hasnt missed a beat, top speed of 33kts. 150lts of fuel will get me about 300ks at 4000rpm. I would go for etec or 130 opitmax as from memory the 115 opti is only 3 cylinder. Just the service savings of two stroke is significant. Luke
  17. Gday mate, i dont know about browns, but word is that there has been some good catches of blueye and harpuka off Kiama atm so i would assume they would be out there. Good luck. Luke.
  18. Hi Mate, I havent been on any myself but ive heard that simmos afloat offers a good service www.simosafloat.com.au, Also silverstar charters out of greenwell point. www.silverstarfishingcharters.com.au Happy fishing Cheers Luke
  19. That would be good Cheers
  20. Aussie bob, I have been looking into buying an electric reel i have been looking at the same tunacom 1000 as you have or a miya epoch reel. Do you have any thoughts as to how they both compare, by the sounds of it your two will pull most things up. Thanks LUke
  21. Hi Millsy82, Good catch there mate, were you out on a charter? also did you get the tuna on or past the shelf, iE what depth? Thanks lUKE
  22. Went wide off shellharbour today, first arrivived at Kiama fad, with water only at 20.2, nothing seen or touched, set marlin spread and headed to Kiama canyons then south to 300fathom line the current lines were loaded with drift wood but no dollies under them, water temp stayed at a cool 21.5, no bait on the shelf and no birds, we did manage 4 gemfish to 3kg so at least didnt come home empty handed. Should be interesting to see what is caught a Shellharbour Game comp Tomorrow. Cheers Luke
  23. Nice dollie mate, what water temp did you have?
