  1. Hey fellow raiders, I'm looking for any advice on what to purchase for a new rod n reel for estray fishing from wharfs and landbase using both sp's and bait targeting flatties, bream and Whitting. My budget is $150-$200 all up. I'm also looking for a cheap reel for an old Jarvis walker I have just as a second rod to use. Cheers Brownie
  2. Had to cut the session short, hooked into something big but ran out of line.... Have been using a combo IV had for 15 odd yrs and now it's finally failed me. As I said earlier I would suggest prawns for bait. The squid didn't get much action until the end. Will now be out of action till I can get enoughoney together for a new rod n 2 reels.
  3. Yeah I'm out here now, thought I would try squid.... Would not suggest it have had a few bites but SPS and prawns seem the go here
  4. I used prawns but thinking squid may be a better choice. With the tidal flow I am going to be trying sp's. Am thinking of heading back tomorrow to give it another go with squid so I'll post here if I do.
  5. I don't live up on the coast no more bit will be up there in a few weeks and am looking at taking my boy out. It will be land fishing only as I don't have access to a boat. Do u guys have any kid friendly areas that will result in a good chance in action??
  6. Not as yet IV only used a cheap brand as I still am learning how to set them on the jigs but have been doing some research and I'm liking the look of the Zman ez shrimpz soft plastic 3.5 inch. I need to buy a better rod n reel I think before I'll be able to really get into the sp's as I'm just using a generic Jarvis walker ATM.
  7. Nice effort bud. Always good to see the young ones loving a fishing session. Beautiful looking flatties mate well done. Brownie
  8. Nice work, miss the days of boating in be. Use to go out with my dad and a family friend use to be good fishing sad to see the decline but nice catch bud
  9. Congrats bud, were u on land or boat??
  10. Nice effort mate, always good to start a day off like that. Brownie
  11. Your not wrong, but pick your time right and it's a fairly decent spot.
  12. Morning crew, Yesterday whilst at East hills Park I was using the flow of the water to push my bait down stream and I got to thinking about whether or not using sp's or hard bodies in that situation would have worked. Has anyone or does anyone know whether using lures with a strong water flow work?? Will the force or the water make the lures and sp's motions come alive?? I'm thinking it will as really its just if they were being reeled in. Brownie
  13. Damn bid sorry to hear that, will keep my ears open and will pass it on to my fisho mates. Good luck
  14. Nicely done pal. I'm yet to master the sp's waiting till I can buy a good rig for it. What sp did u use??
  15. Decided to head over to East hills Park for a little session. When I got there the wharf was already occupied by two guys so headed down underneath the railway bridge. Didn't get much action but did hook up to something big assuming by its motions it was a flatty but had it bust off just before getting to shore. Shortly after the two guys left the wharf and headed home so I decided to have try from there. Hooked up to two small bream but was more then happy for the drought breaking fish. Obviously throwing them back. All in all was an ok morning better then as they say, will have to give it another go soon. Brownie.
  16. Hey Greg, Mate the concrete wharf near Central coast stadium has its moments or try fishermen's wharf at Woy Woy, those are the spots I normally hit with my boy. As for bait the usual prawns and squid. Brownie
  17. Nice report bud, seems the fish were a bite quiet all over. Was at picnic point my self for 3 hrs for 2 under size bream. Brownie

Am easily an ameuter fisherman but am looking to become more serious. I am boatless so I'm looking for either other land fishermen or someone who uses a boat and is willing to have someone tag along. Cheers Brownie
