  1. Nice session on the pigs, sounds like they where quality size fish too. The fillets make a good feed as well, good stuff. Steve
  2. Good report Hodgey & not a bad little session throwing hardbodies to all the tailor. Bet the paint on the gold bomber's not looking too good.Ive used them as well up north even when there is no paint left on them & they still catch fish.Top lure Steve
  3. Well done on a good first up report, good to see a few nice fish for your effort. Nice of excalibur to give you a ride out on his boat too!! cheers Steve
  4. Nice day for it too yesterday, mate a slow day fishing always beats being at work. At least a couple of hookups gave you guys a bit of excitement while out there. cheers Steve
  5. Ive used that same lure up north with great success on the barra as well, also the brown/orange & red/green one work good too.The only hardbody lure that has worked for me down here on the flatties & also catches stacks of barra up north is the classic & trusted gold bomber 14A. But i haven't tried the lucifer myself on the flatties & cant see why it wouldnt work ok,there are not too many lures around that wont catch a flattie in the right conditions. With the effectiveness & versatility of soft plastics that can be fished in any depth of water & can be cast further in most conditions, you cant beat them, why bother spending a session trying to maybe catch a flathead with a hardbody lure of any kind except for maybe slow trolling them over shallow dropoffs, weedbanks & sandflats. It is fact that soft plastics are absolutely devastating on flathead, even better than bait,in most cases anyone with the right tackle can catch them but when they are used by a fairly skilled angler they are deadly & do catch flathead of all sizes. Steve

  11. They are a great boat that have been around for a long time, one that is well looked after & runs on a reliable outboard are still keenly sought after. The one's i have seen or fished from over the year's generally come in all white with either a blue, yellow or red band around the the side's. Take your pick i guess. cheers Steve

    Shock Leader

Shock leader's are just a fancy word for what is the trace you have attatched to the main line.Actually its also the opposite of what you mentioned, make sure that if you intend to cast alot make the leader short, i mean so its not going through the guides when you cast out.The reason you probably broke off the line & all the gear attatched,is because the knot gets caught up in the guides when you throw out & snap's off.It doesnt take much to break even 30 or 40lb line when you cast with alot of pressure,it happens to all of us at times. cheers Steve
  18. Top day out guy's & some nice yellowfin, well done. cheers Steve
  19. Its a shame you never found the wide fad as some guys i know fished there last weekend & found plenty of nice dollies around it.You are right about the water out there it was great apparently & good to see the dollies around so late in the season too. Steve
  20. NICE BAG OF QUALITY FISH,WELL DONE ON A GOOD DAY OUT. CHEERS STEVE
  21. That's a thumper king mate, very well done.Very different looking head on it though, probably got a bad injury early on in its life but thankfully recover & give you a great capture, got a head like a dollie but the body of a king. cheers mate Steve
  22. Easier way is to pump some nippers at low tide, then set up a couple of light threadline outfits with 6lb line, sinker & a metre long 8lb leader.Tie on a mustad suicide hook which are perfect for the live nipper's,then go out and target Bream, whiting & flathead which are pretty common in the hacking.Best results always come very early morning just as light is in the sky especially for Bream.Try bigger plastics later in the morning if you want to & target flathead. cheers Steve
  23. Mate that's a top catch & must have been great fun to fight in the ultra shallow water. Good feed too, well done!! Steve
  24. Awesome fishing on broadbill Ross,3 big marlin in a day is superb fishing. Well done getting the crew amongst the fish once again.Top photo's too!! Cheers Steve
