Had a wander tonight and managed to bring in 3 tailor from the beach. Had two lines with all kinds of rigs and tasty treats out in the current but nothing wanted it. Judging from the lack of motion up and down the beach, it wasn't just me.
Out of boredom started flicking lures out and once the current started to slow (just before high tide) started getting bites! They loved a little 3 inch bronze crankbait with a shallow lip and rattle. I landed 3, all about the size of the one in the picture. I was using a 6 ft light action rod so even these little guys were a blast.
Tried some bigger cranks, poppers, slugs, jigs and spoons hoping to find a bigger tailor but no dice. Just the little ones and they only wanted the one lure.
