  1. Lately I've been tying a swivel at the end of my main and using a snap on the end of a FC leader. Snap attaches to the swivel and I tie on the lure. I have about 5 leaders ready at a given time and once tied to a lure they can stay paired for a session or even a few sessions. Lets me change lures quickly without cutting line. I re-tie the main swivel occasionally just in case. If a leader starts to look dodgy I can re-tie or even replace it with a spare and either re-tie it later or bin it if it's worn.
  2. Just thought I'd bump this again. Is this still being maintained? In this context are only rock fishing spots marked? Obviously you can fish by land from beaches and I don't really see them, but maybe they're just not marked because they're obvious?
  3. Please PM me next time you're headed out, I'm in the area and would love to watch and learn.
  4. Still learning my Aussie fish, what's the one in the 3rd photo please?
  5. Wondering if this might be something a sponsor might be interested in for next time around? Or maybe we could have a fundraiser/sell tickets/etc. Apologies if I'm speaking out of turn.
  6. +1 It would be great to have an online shop for gear/kit/tackle in addition to Outriggers where we can stock up. Or, any local shops without an online presence that wanted to do a deal would get my business too.
  7. Had a wander tonight and managed to bring in 3 tailor from the beach. Had two lines with all kinds of rigs and tasty treats out in the current but nothing wanted it. Judging from the lack of motion up and down the beach, it wasn't just me. Out of boredom started flicking lures out and once the current started to slow (just before high tide) started getting bites! They loved a little 3 inch bronze crankbait with a shallow lip and rattle. I landed 3, all about the size of the one in the picture. I was using a 6 ft light action rod so even these little guys were a blast. Tried some bigger cranks, poppers, slugs, jigs and spoons hoping to find a bigger tailor but no dice. Just the little ones and they only wanted the one lure.
  8. Your name: James Your Location: Central Coast Fishing technique: Shore fishing - any style, any target species. Choose your favourite and I'll watch and learn. Availability: Weekends only Preferred location: Central Coast Provide your own gear? Yes Provide your own boat? No Looking for some help getting started on the right foot. Just getting back into fishing after moving to Oz from the US about 5 years ago. Used to fresh water fish inland lakes, but so far tragically hopeless in salt water. Maybe starting with some basics like burley, catching bait, how to decide what tackle to use, maybe some technique. I'm sure there's a hundred pointers you could come up with before I even finish getting out of the car.
