I just cleaned out my thermo housing and cover two weeks ago..i lightly scraped away the little bit of build up in there and discovered my poppet valve was stuck..which I freed up and cleaned lubed and re fitted..i don't know if your model has it...im not sure on actual tension as I just firm by hand..being s/steel in alloy you cant go to errol or you will strip threads....rick

Yep no worries rick had a bit of a look around doesn't seem mines got one ?

  2. Hi guys I'm curious to have some sort of insight as to what my cooling passages and stuff  look like so I'm going to change my thermostat while I'm at it .....would anyone have torque specs as to what I should nip em back up to,  its a Yamaha 60 hp 2 stroke 04 model also does this particular model have an internal anode

Was going to do the impeller but that was only done a year ago says the receipt  that should be still good hey pumps heaps of water and the guy reckons he always used saltaway

    Cheers omally

  3. I always have my leads off my batteries when not in use electrolysis etc or are you talking about a switch panel? Or you mean instead of just isolating the positive with control panel isolate the negative to?

Could you if you haven't already install a switch panel where all lights on a separate switch?

I got mine on key chain remote that's on the boat keys  and it's got a dimmer because on full they are pretty bright ( I've heard the dimmers aren't to good for the LEDs as they actually turn on and off thousands of times but I've had pretty much the same set up on all my boats for years with out a problem, and I think the whole set up with switch panels and stuff was way under a hundred bucks) and very cheap and easy  to replace I think you'll have fun with it

  5. Hi guys just thought I'd put my  report up from today... I headed out to wyangala dam to do some trolling with my new ac invader lures in  the 90 mm 24 ft range so was cruising around at about 30 ft the plan was to get there around 5 or 6 this arvo but I couldn't wait so headed down around 11 am this morning... All I did was troll just wanted to cover as much ground as possible and being  the time of day didn't fancy my chances casting so yeah  with my water snake issues fixed it worked awesome didn't miss a beat and I think was crucial in getting my cod it went  only 60 cm but was very healthy and pretty fat and had 1 or 2 decent runs  thought it was bigger than what it was actually yeah got him on the green redfin colour invader

So I've got an EZ Loader skid trailer. One of the bunks has warped as the timber has become rotten and the carpet is peeling off in parts. The result of that is that the bracket that the timber bunk sits on has made a scratch in the bottom of my boat and is currently slightly dug into the bottom - as the back of the boat is resting on it. Hopefully it hasnt punched a hole but I'll only find out for sure when the boat is off.

Tomorrow I'm taking it to a trailer repair place. I've been quoted $1000 to replace both bunks. Maybe a few hundred more to repair the brakes that have never worked since I got it.

Or I've got the option of forking out $3700 for a brand new gal trailer  manufactured in Moorebank. Or $5000 for a big name brand like Dunbier - and get up to $500 trade in.  It's got a bit of surface rust here and there so it's a tough call whether to keep pumping money in keeping an old trailer going or bite the bullet and replace the whole shebang....

    Decisions decisions huh

DIY diy diy lol could get an awesome second hand but in new condition for that

hey turtletown  of the thousands of salt/freshwater/marlin/tuna lures hanging on shop walls the majority of colours are designed to catch fisherman   not fish....classic example; marlin lure ice cream yumyum colour..there is nothing in the ocean that looks like this but it catches fish because people put it in front of hungry fish..when contemplating lure purchases  look at lures favoured and used by others for your target species;ie;look at fotos of captures and read what fishos recommend..hope this helps..rick

Yep I can second that I'm definitely keener on my lures than the bloody cod that's for sure... I'm hoping my infatuation rubs off onto them and they start taking notice Bahaha

I personally would be sticking to something like a Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki.

I've had a few mates with tohatsu and mercury. and they've had so many problems with it. Spends more time in the workshop than on water.

    Is this your first boat?

Yeah even tho I have a yammy and have heard good things can't vouch for them yet as mine only has 80 hours on it and I've only done like 2 hours on it so far so good but.. Have heard they do have bullet proof oil injection systems(2 strokes)  which puts my mind at ease a bit
