  1. Great looking rig, good to hear the 90hp is doing her justice, should be an economical all rounder especially once you get all the extra goodies on her, probably a good idea to go with a framed windscreen like Zoran has has suggested especially for when your out wide and the seas get a bit nasty, good to see all the guys and the whole family helping you out
  2. Great read and photos, try the live bait technic on the run out tide with a bit of lead during the autumn spawn run, you might pick up a “big girl” for the brag mat and maybe a Jew A’s by Catch
  3. Heard there’s a lot of bait on the way out to the shelf, hopefully the southerly over the next day or so pushes the warmer water in closer, be interesting to hear how you go Scratchie
  4. Sounds like you guys had a great session to kick off the new year with a good plan to avoid the boat traffic, I’m surprised you only got the one slimy, I’m assuming you got them near the ladders. I spoke to a guy at the ramp just before chrissy who nearly bagged out on slimy’s there while I was up near putty beach getting blue spots and quite a few 30+cm slimy’s
  5. Hi kiwicraig it was a great episode, especially seeing them on Brisbane waters.Rebel it’s interesting that Scotty is selling the business, it’s probably due to his on going commitments with the game club
  6. Thought as much, they tend to be a bit deeper tho time of year, good on you for showing them up on your improvised down rigger, interesting about variedlure colours working probably to do with light conditions & time of day, have you seen the planers from whitties they are fully adjustable & run a lot further back away from boat noise & know spooking of fish, did you guys run any deep diving hard bodies by chance
  7. Great report, sounds like you had a awesome trip away, nothing like having local knowledge to help fine tune your fishing techniques, that yellow wing is one of my go to did most of the fish come from flatlining or downrigging & what was the best lure of the trip, every time we go in June the lure favoured by the fish seems to change👍🙂👍
  8. Hi kiwi Graig great write up as usual I’ve been bagging out on the flatties lately and have found the better models in the 50 to 60m depth and I’ve occasionally been plagued by the little ones if that’s the case I move out till I find the better ones. Maybe try that spot where you got the gummy that morning I’ve occasinally got good ones in close, out of curiosity is there a size limit on gummies in NSW, cheers
  9. Upstream from the weir near Delhi Rd in Lanecove national park, Parramatta Park in the late 80’s I used to see course fisherman & others fish from the causeway behind the stadium and downstream catch eels ,catfish & carp up to 20lb, I’ve also heard that the lake in bicentennial park has carp
  10. Nice report, you picked a great day for an afternoon session and managed to get a feed, good video it gave me a different perspective of the haven as I’ve only fished there from the shore
  11. That knot assist looks perfect for my fingers buckwild, where did you get it for $40
  12. The whales are amazing when they’re doing there thing but can be quite scary when they are that close, nothing better than a plate full of fresh flattie fillets, great report
  13. Awesome snapper, 5 good keepers, up with the birds and back in time for a beer with lunch and you didn’t even get your hands dirty, pluse you trumped the young fella at the post, what a great session. Well done
  14. Found this photo of the biggest fish (Atlantic salmon) I’ve caught out of the lake a few years ago
  15. Thanks for the comments podtrailler, you should definitely take up your friends offer and being a local he should have the fishing sust out and as gordoretired mentioned using the fishing almanac and fishing the better days does make a difference, you could probably combine fishing & snowboarding in the one trip & have some fish to take back?
  16. here are the photos from my Jyndabine trip which I finally got down loaded with the help of one of my nieces
  17. Out of curiosity how do you download photos it says I’ve exceeded capacity even with one photo
  18. Hi Gordo retired sounds like you had a great trip, all of ours where caught on tazzies except for one, we’ve caught a few of our better fish on hard bodies mind you the odd tassie has as well, like you just in gear with one or 2 buckets out and into the wind no buckets depending on speed, normally east Jyndabine has been good to us but the wind made it hard and we only tried once, so true about the almanac
  19. Thanks blaxland the salmon went 47cm my best weighed 3kg and went 60cm,I’ve had my 560c with 130etec since 2010 and had it halfway between browns and heatons very seaworthy, my mate brought his pie warmer, best thing I’ve had on the boat next to his tiagras Thanks masterfisho Thanks kingie chaser, used to go down annually around June , missed the last couple of years, it was good to get down to the lake again, the best we did was 46 fish in 5days and the odd brown and salmon in the low 60s, it was the worst wind we’ve experienced and yes they are great to eat especially smoked cheers
  20. Gday Waza, it’s amazing what lengths fisho’s would go to for a good fishing spot, great info you must’ve been quite a fixture on some of those platforms in your day. Cheers Dieter
  21. Hi being fairly new to the site I thought I’d post my last fishing trip. Went down to Jyndabine on the last day of the June long weekend with a mate and the barcrusher in tow we got to the caravan park near the Thredbo turn off about 1pm and unloaded everything, we had launched the boat by 2:30pm and fishing soon after, managed to get 4 trout by nightfall, kept one around 48cm and released the others. That night another mate turned up, the next morning we were on the water by seven and tried another part of the lake and managed to get salmon, rainbow and brown trout, released two fish which were the only undersized fish of the trip. The following morning we were on the water before dawn and headed up to near where the snowy and thredbo rivers come into the lake, saw an amazing sunrise and proceeded to lose a bit of gear to some trees in a shallow bay, the wind started to come up which made things interesting trolling the edges, later in the afternoon we tried around the islands and the clay pits infront of Jyndabine. At nightfall we were making our way back to base past the clay pits when a yellow winged tassie on the the shotgun went off and I managed to wrangle a 58cm fat brown to the boat which was the biggest for the trip. We tried to stay out of the wind the next day but it was gusting so bad that at once stage that the whole lake had like 10 foot of white spray across it, the fish seemed to shut down even though we could see an occasional one on the sounder. The final day was canned and ended up going to the trout hatchery, very interesting and there retired brood stock made my brown trout look like a young teenager they are so big and bulky
  22. Hi talking about a pulley system, as a young bloke in the seventies I saw a couple of photos of guys with rods and gear on a boatswains chair being winched across from an isolated rock as the swell had picked up, from memory I think that was up a bit from north Bondi. Would that have been the “Bondi murk”
  23. Forgot to mention in my earlier post the oil consumption is based on my annual trip to jyndabine chasing trout and using 0.8 litres of fuel an hour when trolling
  24. I’ve got a 130hp on a 560 barcrusher if I’m doing a lot of trolling with short runs (20 mins here and there) I get easily 60hours + out of one container, where as a long range trip (10+ hrs) off the shelf and all day trolling with swell & current there’s not much oil left, 300hr or 3year servicing + oil is I guess comparable to 4stroke servicing
  25. I’ve been having a go at squid fishing the last few months with Yamashita R egi sutte in size 2.5 & 3.0 off the rocks they have a sink rate of 4.5/seconds to 3.5/seconds per metre where I usually count 10 to 15 seconds & then give them a double flick & count 5 secs then start a slow retrieve for about 5 to 10 winds & then repeat flicks and wind back to shore and recast, alternatively I’ll cast out & countdown and then wind back to shore (by wind I mean really really slow). I mix both technics to find what’s working on the day. Most of the squid have been jagged near the beak but on the outside of the tentacles, occasionally I’ve got the odd one by the candles (mainly smaller ones).A rising tide or the last of the run out and dusk and dawn seem to be prime time, in saying that I’ve caught quite a few in quick succession during the middle of a sunny day a couple of times.A lot of the takes have been during the countdown and when going to lift as Derek said feels like a snag & then pulsing surge, and like all fishing I’ve had quite a few donuts and have lost a few jigs when not focussed especially around reedy structure
