  1. Yeh have thought of that BN, i have always watched vids from POV and liked that style, may have to setup the other camera as well and switch between them in editing, which as everyone knows that it aint no 5 minute job in editing, the latest video i did with my mate catching a little bass, was a 10 minute video, and that was about 6 hours worth of filming and changing locations etc. plus abut 3 hours worth of editing, and not the best Vid either.
  2. Hey Garry, Depending on time of year depends on tailor and what not, i have a couple of places on the Wangi side too, just haven't gotten around to uploading locations, only problem i have noticed lately is the amount of weed around that side of the lake, you can try fishing point, that has resulted in some good bream. Also comes down to exactly what your fishing for and what times you are prepared to go, for instance fishing on Monday night right across the road from mine was fantastic, heaps of bream and some small snapper, but that was 2am in the morning when the tide was on the change.. Feel free to pm me mate, always keen for a flick, five islands Bridge has resulted in some good Flattys and a variety of fish, and last week my mrs caught a little sweetlip/sweep under swansea bridge on the swansea side. Regards, Squ!r+
  3. So me and good mate of mine have been trying to go out almost every arvo during the last couple of weeks to get some carp or bass or anything else we can get, as long as we get out and have flick. Made a YouTube and decided to make a little urban creek series along with going through and editing vids from us two on wharfs around syd. Caught this little carp in a local creek, it’s a local spot to us and many of you would have driven past it or walked past it within western Sydney. Video Link here>> Urban Creeks - Carp Hunter
  4. @Scratchie the Famous fishing star. haha good on ya mate, celebrity status now, whats next? tv series???
  5. Awesome idea should get majority of people to a central location between syd and the coast, big park near the water with bbqs, bring a rod and snags Make it a Fishraider social, when we are allowed big groups ofcourse....
  6. Awesome read and a great story, I'm sure a lot of us can trelate to the fighting and struggles of eels, and many of us have stories of caravan park fishing and holiday adventures. Look forward to reading more memories from ya
  7. Awesome report and a good read, will have to come for a bass flick, use to go everyday to yarramundi, couple of little decent spots out that way. Welcome to the forum too, looking forward to seeing more reports from you.

    KNOTS

double double uni, faster to tie imo and easier to do in several metre swells.
  9. Google Map updated aswell : Landbased Lake Macquarie Fisho Google Map
  10. Valentine / Bennett Park Good spot to relax on a Sunday arvo Right next to a boat ramp Semi sheltered from the hills Fish from your bullbar/boot Close to Valentine shops (fish and chips/grocery shop) Can park right next to water Five Islands Bridge/Speers Point Good parking under bridge Just behind Speer Point Park Fairly Sheltered, stay under bridge, good in the rain Close to Speers Point Boat ramp Can park in boat ramp parking and walk and fish anywhere between boat ramp and five islands bridge
  11. I normally cut the chicken into sort of triangle strips and put the hook through the chicken twice then dip into the parmy, I use these plastics> 3 inch minnow in the chartreus or peppered prawn colour, seem to get decent flatties on the peppered prawn more than the chartreus but depends on water conditions. I also use these same combos of bait throughout the hawkesbury including berowra. Best of luck
  12. those outfits will be perfect, i would be using chicken with parmesan on one or peeled prawns, and using some plastics on the other, plastics seem to go off in the hawkesbury lately. Caught some decent and some small flatties off the beach just past the ferry a little while ago mid afternoon, and was surprised. 6.6 combo with sienna 2500 2-4kg, nice little fight.
  13. where are you located?? most places you catch carp have eels, parra river have a couple.
  14. @big Neil Yeh mate pretty convenient and close to fish and chip takeaway and little grocery store too, also right next to a boat ramp
  15. Hey all, been a while since I have done a report of the lake although I fish it almost every weekend, After the rain and bushfires I had heard reports of little to no fish along with my own experiences of no catching in my usual go to spots. Started out the afternoon with grabbing some fish and chips for lunch with the kids at Speers point, they then insisted on let’s go fishing, tried a spot close to Speers point park which has had hookup success in the afternoon before, flicked around a bit on a “walker wobbler” but no success and lots of other people were under the bridge, decided to go for a little bit of an adventure on the other side of the lake towards Booragul and Marmong Point, but the water was very choppy and quite windy. Decided to head back towards home way (BELMONT) and looked for little spots on the way, decided to nick into Valentine Boat Ramp, the mrs suggested it as we have never tried fishing there before and I think she was itching to try out her new rod. By this time the kids were buggered from playing at the park and were asleep in the car, parked right next to the water and started setting up the rods, The mrs was stoked with her new rod, swapped her sienna 2500 onto it straight away as the reel that came with it was a bit how you going, for a cheap Pryml $35 setup amazing rod, great weight and almost near perfect balance. Second cast in on her brand new rod, hookup, only a small bream but she was stoked, her new rod has now been christened and she was very happy. Will definitely be going back to this little spot next to the boat ramp again and adding it to the Lake Mac Landbased guide for sure. Regards Squ!rt
  16. Swansea Underpass Good at night, less busy Different opportunity as on the other side of channel Change on tide is best Not Sheltered from Wind Kid Safe, Underpass walking track/bikepath Lighting from bridge Park in gravel carpark Swansea Boat Ramp corner Good spot to try or come back to before/after Coon Island As its the channel on Lake side, check tides, always seems to be better before a runnout IMO Not Sheltered, can be good though, get longer casts. Kid Safe, Concrete walkway(watch for bikes) grassy area and picnic tables literally 30 second drive from Swansea shops\
  17. Reid Reserve has been going off lately on that breakwall on change of high tide, seen some decent monsters getting caught along with some half decent bream, Last sunday night at around 11-12pm i hit up swansea bridge on way down to work in syd, got 4 tailor in about 20 mins, decent school and good fun, Squirts tip: Silver spoon or classic walker wobbler at second pilon never goes a stray at night under swansea bridge when the tailor run...
  18. If you plan on venturing up the coast, Lake Mac is pretty good> here's my guide and write up on Land based round Lake Mac also have created a custom google map with the locations, link in that post: Lake Mac Land Based also an old post on here for sydney landbased spots, gimme a sec and ill find the old google link from 10+ years ago.
  19. @Will Wright I'd take @frankS up on that offer, wish i had someone to teach me about bait casters when i got my first cheap one to mess around with years ago. If you really want to get into bait casters i'd suggest using one first before buying, they can be quite a pain when they birds nest, i'd take frank up on that offer or anyone else who is willing to teach or let you have a play around. Or if you do buy one, put a light sinker on or hookless lure and practice in a soccer field or your backyard before going out and using it so you can feel and practice your accuracy, i learnt by putting small pellet sinker on and firing it into a bucket over and over and over until every cast i got it where i wanted.
  20. you can start with a cheap jarvis walker scorpion combo for about $50 or go to an abu garcia for around the $100 mark, id suggest the later, as the abu is metal spool and seems to have less problems, in saying that the scorpion is cheap and works.
  21. With a baitcaster i would start by using a lure, and get the reel setup right for that weight, there are heaps of vids on the utube about setting up according to stick bait or lure etc.. even on the shimano website from memory, i'd stick to one setup with the baitcaster for now until you are confident to change settings on the fly, i have 1 baitcaster set up just for a particular weight of lure and the other i change regularly, Best way is attach a small sinker or something same weight of what lure/combo you will use and practice in the backyard or at a local soccer field or park, better than going out and losing a lure or your jig setup cos the reel wasn't set right. I did this with my first baitcaster, honestly helps, practice makes perfect. One baitcaster is setup just for my little wobbler jig and then i just carry a spin rod. always good to have options.
  22. Awesome to see this update on lake mac, my mate went out couple of weeks ago and caught f*all, due to the ash and the lake seemed dirty, looks like it may have had a decent flush the rain definately helped, caught 2 small tailor last night under swansea bridge but nothing to write home about.
  23. Nah mate i reckon i caught the same lil dude about 8 times or his cousin or brother hahah, f.all yakka, the spot for snapper is a bit further up almost inline with boxhead, about 25-28m of water, just before west reef. some good snapper grounds in there, just before you hit the reef where it goes down to 20 oddm of water, roughly: 33* 33.452' S - 151* 22.214' E
  24. Last month i went out to the Valiant and all we caught was snapper, only yakkas we could get were in near lion island, There is a nice little spot further off the valiant, will have to find the co-ords on the gps.
