  1. Applied science exercise physiology. 1st semester
  2. Thanks @61 crusherdefinitely worth the hike in!
  3. Thank you. You are correct. my 3 uni exams were in the first week so this adventure which was 3 days ago was the day after. I plan to make these uni holidays count!
  4. Great stuff dave. video was awesome as well!
  5. After a very early wakeup. Hoodlum hunter and I managed to hike into a creek system in the blue mountains to target some trout. At first it looked pretty barren but after spotting lots of trout in a few pools and after 4 or 5 lure changes we managed to crack the code and get 10 trout all up. Biggest went 42, I was actually bitten off by it earlier and then foul hooked it (In retrieving the fish I also retrieved my lure). Check out the youtube video for the full breakdown! (yes the youtube thumbnail is photoshopped to fit the landscape size)
  6. Hi BN, I and doing quite well. How are you? Interesting you mention this in relation to fresh water. I know a lot of people only think about the moon in its relation to tides. But up in a river system the only factor I see the moon playing is light. James
  7. Different taste. I love the taste of kingfish but every time i have tried snapper i've found it vile.
  8. As I understand everyone would be familiar with the ' few days before and after' a new or full moon fish tend to be active. What about right on the full moon? What is everyones thoughts on how it affects fish. I have noticed that fish seem to be out in big numbers however not so interested in taking a bait (happy to chase) but not commit to the lure or bait.
  9. Any raiders currently studying or teaching at Sydney Uni?
  10. Personally I avoid demersal fish throughout the entire harbour as much as possible. I would never eat a bream, flathead, whiting... east of the bridge as they feed on the bottom where the dioxin wastes may still be present in the muddy bottom. Pelagics are a slightly different story. I have eaten Kingfish, bonito, just west of the bridge as they are constantly moving throughout the harbour and have potentially recently been off shore.
  11. I am reasonably into crypto and NFT's. The worth of Crypto is controlled by the supply and demand of that particular currency as a whole as it is exchanged and traded on exchanges through a buyer's asking price and a seller's selling price. NFT's are similar however in their case they hold individual worth as they are not apart of a grouped currency (however still being built on the same / similar technology). Think of an NFT as a real life painting, which NFTs digitally are (digital artwork, but not always). What controls why a panting is valuable varies and can be very subjective: the artist who made it, the fame of that artist, the quality or significance of the work, maybe even money laundering. The same goes for NFT's making them have the potential to skyrocket to extremely high prices however gaining a hold of ones that are capable of doing this are hard as the initial price may be out of reach. one might also not be involved in any wrong doing (cough cough, money laundering) that is going on.
  12. After the recent reports of lots of activity under the harbour bridge I thought I would make the commute. The full moon seemingly had everything pretty quiet in comparison to the days before but I still managed to snag a nice little king (60cm) on a soft plastic which was released.
  13. Thanks bro, I might give it a try. Is that the small weir just up from mulgoa?
  14. That was actually an old hardbody lure from my tackle-box. I think trout are pretty good at sitting in fast water. I saw some come up for a guy t-bagging a lure just at his feet above the waterfall so it's definitely not an issue for them. Thanks for the sub!
  15. Very good report and nice looking bream!
  16. After hearing of some trout being caught in Penrith again I headed down for a flick. I've always wanted to catch a trout in Penrith as they seem like quite an exotic catch from an area that is known for hot and dry weather but with Warragamba dam releasing even more water (and trout) into the system, there seems to be trout everywhere once again. Lots of missing scales seem to indicate the fish had a rough time going over the wall or perhaps its the heat?
  17. Negatives: Can't get out fishing as much due to poor conditions, murky brown water, fast flowing and flooding in rivers and estuaries, salt water getting diluted further upstream in estuaries. Positives: Lots of nutrients being washed down kickstarting the food chain for later on (feeding algae and then off it goes), strong EAC bringing down northern species, more water flowing through streams that have become dry due to droughts. Obviously a few more positives and negatives that could be listed. In the end you cant catch anything if you don't have a line in the water so when you get the chance just get out there and give it a shot.
  18. Yeah it does definitely, say its a faster fish then the fight will be more exciting on lighter gear but potentially less exciting on heavier gear as they might not have the grunt to pull the line out.
  19. Just get a 20lb setup and a 10lb setup and throw sluggos and squid strips around middle harbour you will catch 100x more kings. Edit: (Most of the kings I have caught have been on 12lb and 30lb setups)
  20. Alrighty, as the previous ratings on fish taste quality sparked a lot of conversation lets rate fish fight quality. The fight quality of a fish is a mixture of speed, grunt and stamina. Some fish are just really great at peeling off line on a light setup really quickly, some are great at pulling strips while under heavy drag pressure and some fish just don't give up. Whereas some just feel like a wet rag. For arguments sake lets all assume each fish you rate is of the same size. Seeing as a 3m shark would put up a better fight than a 30cm bream however I am pretty sure that a 30cm bream would put a 30cm shark to shame. Trevally (especially GTs) 10/10 Kingfish 10/10 bully mullet 9/10 Mac Tuna 9/10 aussie salmon 9/10 bass 7/10 tailor 4/10 bream 6/10 snapper 6/10 leatherjacket -10/10 flathead 2/10 redfin -5/10
