  1. Mate no worries happy to help out😁thats just how we are as raiders👍plus i like helping people get into something im passionatte about because i had people instructing me on things i wondered about as well so i know how much i gained from it🤙 Also any questions regarding locations etc pm me and i can give you info on locations or some other spots etc
  2. Hello joel, depending on what it is that you catch some species like tailor salmon trevally kingie bonito etc you need to bleed and let blood leave the fish for a few minutes then chuck on ice until the end of the day/night then fillet and de gut then back on ice and take home...thats just what i do....or flattys bream etc that dont need bleeding just chuck straight on ice or into bucket of water then fillet and de gut scale etc when i get home or after the fishings over. And yes the fish would hold up in if its on ice or just in a bucket of sea water especially in winter... I would normally bleed a fish by cutting in behind its gills into the brain then hold its tail and jiggle it around in the water for a minute or two then into a bucket of water or on ice then degut scale fillet later When i catch a fish i like to quickly do what i gotta do with it then keep fishing and fillet scale degut etc at the end of the trip at the wharf or at home What dirvin said is true as well Hope that helps
  3. Mate well done😁👌🏻 that must have been a memorable capture on 1-3kg gear😯love the feeling you get when you see your first jewie in the water aye
  4. Mate wish you luck on the jewies, if u put in the work with the bait gathering and knot tying etc u will end up with a jewie it may take 1 hour or months but just know that if you have the good baits out it WILL happen😁
  5. Agree fully, circumstances and gear and surroundings can be what determines a favorite fish but at the same time like your example it can be many other factors and maybe more than 1 favorite specie
  6. May i ask why blackfish is SO popular amongst you guys? I would like to know why because ive only caught a few of em and dunno why some people live an die by em😁 please explain
  7. Well done Jon keep those top notch pics coming😁
  8. Well done a beauty of a snappah for sydney😁
  9. Mate do you ever have a bad day!!😂some nice fish there🤩
  10. I can see what Derek is saying and mostly agree😁but i just find around the high they are more active in looking for baitfish? I may be wrong..in saying that i have caught plenty on low tide😁
  11. Yeh that should be fine, i would look at a 2-5kg rod with a 3000 reel...put some 8pound j braid on it and that would be a good all round combo...but i would go to your local a shop shop and see what deals they have happening, they have plenty of rods for cheap that are good quality, i would also buy one of the tackle boxes with gear included in it (a 500peice tackle box) these are not overly expensive islf you buy that then you have to buy some 8 pound flurocarbon leader as well...then i would learn double uni and uni knot...then the simplest rig to use is= (cut 70cm of leader from your flurocarbon leader/ a double uni knot attaching braid to leader/ thread a small to medium ball sinker onto this leader so that it freely slides up and down/ get a small hook and using the uni knot tie this onto your leader do the sinker slide up and down to the hook) do you understand this? This is how i started and it is fairly easy.... buy a bag of prawns from the servo for bait and pull the head off and peel off the skin from the outside so its nice and soft and cut the prawn into peices just bigger than you hook (so you get more out of the prawns) insert the hook and your good to go make sure the barb on the hook is hidden in the bait, go to any wharf in sydney harbour and you should catch some fish best are balmoral, clifton, rose bay, anywhere around harbour bridge...but pretty much any wharf you should catch something Hope this helps
  12. Welcome joel, im sure someone around sydney area would be able to give you a few lessons, mentor, guide you etc. What gear do you have?
  13. Well done jenno👏👏👏👏love it when the squid are cooperating 😀
  14. Well done on the salmon mate👏👏they fight well aye Not uncommon to lose salmon in the fight, i have done this alot😁 as they jumpand i think coz they are so aggressive and so many strike the lure at once maybe they dont connect well enough with the lure, maybe your drag was too tight or loose?
  15. Yes sounds good, i reckon going up to high tide , say high is at 10am i would get there 8/830 am, but if the tides doesnt suit then if it was a 2pm high i would get there in high and fish for 3 or so hours.....those times were just an example obviously but dawn or dusk is best....next week the tides are gonna be perfect times with early morning and arvo tides....just remember 1.5/2 hours before or.... high tide to 2 hours after high is best... Also may as well put a strip down on the bottom incase of a jewie cruising thru😁
  16. Yeh looks good if u cant live just buy fresh squid but not servo squid, fresh squid from the fish shops...if u cant get more than a couple of squid u could use the heads and strips off the hood.... Good luck and feel free to post what happens in reports section😁
  17. Also there are plenty of good spots off the rocks in the harbour...i just listed the easy to access one
  18. Ok so just a few spots i can think of...balmoral, clifton, spit, bantry bay (altho hard to access from shore) any wharf near harbour bridge, the piers next to harbour bridge (some one else will have to elaborate on that coz i have never been there...altho know it is a good spot for kings), cremorne wharf and around watson bay area.....Hope this helps and hope others join in with spots they know and have experience at😁any of these a live slimy yakka squid cuttlefish etc. Should produce a king if your lucky😁
  19. Are you limited to middle harbour? Just thinking of what kingie spots u can go to
  20. Yes around spit bridge and the wharves near the brifge at balmoral or just around at clifton in the weeds towards the rocks, any of those places at dawn u can get some if your lucky..... sure other raiders will have other spots as well
  21. If u know how to catch squid thats a hugr advantgae going for kings
  22. About that, plenty of people use a gopro when cubing off the back of their boat to see what fish are in the trail, basically all gopros have livestreaming capabilites through your phone....so that would be pretty cool to do
