  1. Hi Fish fiend, I assume your fishing from a boat. Have a look at the reef area due east of Richmond bommie (a bit south of south durras) at 35 42 108 150 19 338, the reef runs north south for 500m or so. Have a sound around the up current side of the reef and you should be able to find the schools of kingies during summer. Good snapper ground at times also. If you head south of the Bay towards Moruya there are a few reefs due east of Moruya River which hold good schools of king's etc. Don't have the marks at the moment. Hope this helps.... Dave
  2. Hi Jason, Lived in Jindy for a while and fished there many times over the years. The Lake has been a bit quiet the last few years but is always worth a go. Take a couple of rods you would normally use for bream and some small hooks. Use a running sinker rig with a 30 - 50cm light trace. Grab some live scrub worms and/or power bait from the local tackle shop. Head down to the boat ramp near the Thredbo turn off. You can walk around the rocks there and find a spot to cast. Burley the area with corn kernels and then cast a lightly waited bait out. Sit back, grab a beer and wait for a bite. Hope you catch more than a cold! Best of luck..... Dave
  3. Fished moruya canyon yesterday for a few perch nothing on the troll. Mate fished tuross and out to 1000 fathoms for zero. Water a bit green and 20deg. Doesn't look too good for the weekend comp. Cheers. .. Dave
  4. Hi nick. I fished out of bermagui sat and sun with a few other boats in very poor conditions. Plenty of stripped tuna and frigates on shelf in 20 to 21deg nice blue water. No marlin or tuna caught. Same time there was a good bite of stripped marlin and some small yellowfin caught around moruya canyons. Im heading our there tomorrow so will let u know how things are going. All the best.... Dave
  5. Scarab, Try the other side of the bed tomorrow. The reports may be more to your liking!! Lighten up man it's a fishing website..............You know, fun stuff. Dave
  6. Hi Kel, Great post and well done on the fish. Jindabyne has been tough for a couple of years now. Do you remember the details of the comp? I knew Anthony when I worked in the area back some years ago and would love to get involved. Thanks.... Dave
  7. Sea - waves generated by local wind conditions, the size being determined by the length in time a particular wind has been blowing, the distance wind has travelled across the sea, and the depth of water. Swell - are regular longer period waves generated by distant weather systems. For a more in depth description of sea/swell have a look at the BOM marine weather definitions. Also helps explain how it relates to boaties and may answer your question about comfort. A combination of both will effect how comfortable a day is at sea. Hope that helps.......... Dave
  8. Hi Garry, I will take some of my barcrusher and send them to you. All the best........... Dave
  9. Hi seaking, I've got the Furuno 585 and tm260 transom mount transducer. I am very happy with it. It's been on the boat for a couple of years and have no dramas. Can mark good fish/bottom at 530m, bait schools and big fish hunting them. Also use it up the river chasing jews etc and no dramas. Use the 200khz up river and inshore and 50 when out wider. Good luck with your choice........... Dave
  10. Hi mate, The marks I deep drop are around 530m so that's about as deep as I've tried. I'm happy with it, must have lucked out when I installed the tranny!! Couldn't say if it would be better or worse than the 258 as I haven't tried one. It's taken a bit to work out the sounder settings. Just means more time on the water I guess, which isn't all bad. Good luck with your choice....... Dave
  11. Hi webster, I have the 585 and tm260 on my barcrusher. Very happy with it. Deep drop in 500m and mark individual fish. Good readings at speed, mark big fish around bait schools. No dramas with it after two years. Hope this helps. Dave
  12. Hi fisher-jay, I'll send you a PM......... Dave
  13. Hi Alluring, Fished the Clyde on Friday evening. Just on dark around low tide, I got two jew, 70 nd 75cm on live yakkas. Had out a fresh tailor slab which didn't get touched. Fished up around Big Island is that helps. Good luck.... Dave
  14. I'd be very concerned about fuel vapour escaping from the leak under pressure. Just a bomb waiting to go off. I wouldn't risk it............ Good luck with it. Dave
  15. No worries Marco, I think they all work off the same principal. The idea is to use your legs more so than your arms and back. Like anything new it takes time to get use to. Happy hunting.......... Dave
  16. Hi Marco, Tried a cheapie brand of ebay and it didn't last a season. Forked out for a Black Magic harness and gimbal and it's still going strong after 3 years. All the best....... Dave
  17. Heard this morning, that one boat out of Batemans Bay yesterday raised 5 marlin and tagged two. Some mates out today, a couple of fish raised didn't hear the result as yet. Bait is looking good off Batemans Bay shouild be a good week. Dave

    1kw transducer

Hi Tim, I have a FCV585 matched to a 1kw tm260 transducer and all I can say is it's brilliant. I use it fishing up the river, inshore reefs, gamefishing and deepwater bottombashing in 500m with great results. I'm very happy with it. Once you learn how to change settings for different conditions it is a great piece of gear. Highly recommended........... Dave
  19. My brother has a similar drum winch (different brand) fitted to his boat which I've used quite a few times. After the first trip out and using his winch I decided "I've got to get me one of these!!". It was absolutely brilliant. Easy to use, effective and just made anchoring a joy. I can't see mine being anything different. I'll let you know....... Dave
  20. Hi Locodave, Funny you should ask. I just finished installing an Australian made drum style anchor winch, made from 6mm 316 stainless. I bought it direct from a bloke in S.A. and the quality, workmanship and service has been first rate. I fitted it to my 560C barcrusher. It holds 125m of 8mm rope and upto 10m of 8mm chain. The winch, wiring, all fittings and delivery was around $2000.00. First test run is this weekend. Let you know how it goes. All in all very impressed so far. PM me if you want any further details. Best of luck........... Dave
  21. From the photos i think the tranny needs to swap position with the speed paddle. The tranny may also need to be a tad lower and angle the front face down a bit. The slide can cause slight indentations in the hull which can cause turbulence. Hope this helps.. Dave
  22. Nothing off Batemans Bay for pretty much the season!!! Dave
  23. Was watching a fishing show on tele yesterday and they were using the soft vibes at night and braining school jew. They were fising from a river bank with a nice little rock wall. Seemed to do the trick for them. Good luck.......... Dave
  24. Hi Pearson, Interesting video, would be good to see what 'human error' caused the roll over. Living on the south coast of NSW, I've spent a lot of time on Narooma bar, in my bar crusher and a few other boats. This has happened to charter boats, game boats and the weekend warrior. Just goes to show you can't be too careful crossing a bar or using a boat in general. Ethan, good luck in your search for a boat and I hope you find the right one for you. Cheers..... Dave
