  1. Since when did they care about them lol
  2. I have gone on pretty much every website and this is why i'm so confused lol.
  3. The beaches will be very busy, If you want to try go late afternoon. Also manly dam is worth trying if your interested in freshwater (carp, bass, refin). I would suggest early morning or evening to night if you want to go to the wharfs as they get very busy. Narabeen is awesome for leather jacket, got my first one there, prawns work well as well as pipies.
  4. Hi, I was wondering what kind of rigs people would use for Sydeny harbor kings land based. I have seen some people floating a butterflied yaka or just strips of them or even live. Then I have seen them just being drifted (butterflied, strip bait, live) Also how do you guys like to target mulloway? I have heard live, strip baits and butterflied all work well. Also how do you like to catch squid in Sydeny harbour in the day time? I have seen people using 3 jigs at once and people just using 1 jig and people using a float with a jig.
  5. Yeah, I wasn't talking about the main lake. Theres a smaller one like 5 mins walk away. Thank you very much for the help
  6. Hi, has anyone tried fishing Norwest ponds? I have chucked some grass in and found some huge carp. Apparently the locals stock the ponds. Also what rig do people use and baitcaster or spinning? I always put a chunk of bread on and wait. This is in a stocked dam much smaller than norwest. I didn't see any sign that said no fishing but does anyone know if its legal? Also how do people lure fish for them? I have seen soft plastics being used like the ones for bream, and top water for whiting. I thought something like a bass worm (like googan baits lunker log) or something like that pulled along the side of the bank would work well. What capacity rod? I have a 2-4 1 piece shimano I do have heavier stuff but i don't think it is needed? Also what leader would people use or any? Is 20 lb to much? I'm no expert at fresh water. I have literally never properly fished freshwater so any help would be great
  7. Thankyou very much for your reply The aerowave is 12 ft. To sort the problem of the short rod could I use one of those 'spider sinkers' (the one with the wire prongs sticking out to hold in the sane) My light reel broke (one of the teeth on the gear broke) and spare parts won't get here until after my trip
  8. Hi, I'm looing to get into shark fishing in the surf but my setup isn't able to be cast (squall 50 vsw with 5ft6 rod). I don't have a kayak so that isn't an option. I was going to try ballooning baits but how does that work if there is no wind? I also have a spinfisher 950 ssm with 50 lb braid (300 yards and about heaps of 50 lb (tested to be good until 60 lbs) mono backing (It originally had the mono and I just did an FG knot to the braid) with a ex heavy shimano aerowave, the first owner had used this for sharks. Would this be able to cast far enough or would it need to be ballooned as well? Another question is is it ok to use the spinfisher for whiting ect just add a light leader like 12lbs?
  9. Hi i'm looking to buy a penn ally 15-24 kg for kings and sharks. is it any good? im paring it with a spinfisher 950 ssm with 50 lb braid. Im landbased
  10. I already caught one there before on the squall. But it's quite heavy to carry since I have to chatch trains and walk. So I was wondering if any of the other options would have the next highest chance. My spool of 50 lb braid comes 1 day to late.
  11. if your targeting kings you want it near the top, get 1 m leader then a float then swivel then main line.
  12. ive heard the head works quite well, also bonito head isn't to bad
  13. I have caught kingfish before but am unsure of what gear i should be using for land based (walsh bay peir 8). I have caught one from here before but that was on my shark setup (squall 50 vsw on a roller tip rod 5.6 ft). i have 3 reels including the squall which i have been told will work for them but am unsure, need others advice 1. spinfisher 950 ssm - 30 lb mono 2. sienna 4000 fe - 20 lb braid with 50 lb leader 3. squall 50 vsw - 80 lb mono planning on using live slimy mackerel or yakas, which im planning on catching from the warf as well as I've been told they are there in great numbers
