  1. Nice catch, especially the flatty, decent whiting to
  2. Hi, I'm planning to go squiding about 200 m east of the harbor bridge and was curious if anyone has actually eaten squid from the harbor, east of the bridge in particular. I know the DPI has done research into it and they do have a table that advises the limits of what you can eat just curious if anyone actually has eating them and if its safe or not or if there's any funny taste. Thanks
  3. great jewfish lure, wouldn't use off break water or in snagy areas with that bottom treble hook but would be perfect off the beach. I have pretty much the same in red and without the trebel hook and it works well
  4. couldn't find the battle 2 on dinga, only really found them on gumtree, facebook, ebay
  5. how do you get the discount on dinga? wish I knew about that before LOL
  6. I have been changing from shimano to penn as well, found they were cheaper and same as you, less maintenance. Personally I like the look of the battle 3 more but I think the insides of the battle 2 are better, surprised the price is almost the same.
  7. free floating big tweed bait squid (the ones from the pack of 3) or a steak from woolies with a wire trace and a circle hook for easy removal. Keep the tension very high to stop them from wrapping themselves around the leader. When you go to land it, just hold them up for a couple of seconds so it unravels itself in case it is tied around the leader then use pliars and remove the hook
  8. How do you guys cook them? I was think bbq or smoke after drying a little to get the oil out. Make sure to get the skin off right, pull off like a sock?
  9. for budget spinfisher is good. Getting a slammer if my marks are good enough LOL. Are you a fan of the battle 2 or 3? Just curious because I have heard a lot of arguments for each
  10. Some nice smiles. great to see the harbor getting back to what it used to be like, lots of big kings being caught recently
  11. I sometimes use a little syringe to get a small amount, is this a good idea? I have changed a few of my reels bearings because they were from a junk yard (completely gone) and they work nicely now.
  12. Replace the bearings and spin it for about 1 hour straight, helped my reel
  13. When did you get your spinfisher? I got mine this year but I think it's a couple of years old though. Over heads sound like a hazard and an annoyance off the rocks. Anything in the 50 size is just a pain to get any bait out. Also the heavy drag will become dangerous especially with a harness
  14. The spinfisher should be fine, just check the drag to make sure it's not sticky. Penn says the drag is only 6.8 kg but I'm sure it's higher also there's videos on YouTube of people landing Queensland grouper on a spinfisher 850. I'm not sure about the finor as I don't own one but my friend loves his, lands sharks on it. Depends on how old it is though, one of the models (a bit older) has a problem of the handle breaking off. My pe8 rod is quite still stiff and it is 8 ft. It casts pretty well but 150 m is pushing it. Mabey have you had a look at heavy beach rods?
  15. Whiting around there are pretty big, use worms with a longshank hook leave about 1 - 2 cm of worm hanging freely from the hook to wave in the current I have found best. Try off around the rocks either side of the beach to
  16. So thats the point of the holes in the spool as well? Probably should have listened in physics LOL
  17. Nice jack, whats up with it's tail, looks like its missing a bit
  18. Could dark water be weed patches as well? Is there a difference to look for?
  19. Thankyou very much. I'm not exactly new to fishing, I have been fishing for about 12 years (since I was about 4). I'm kind of just doing more research and have found myself here LOL. I would love to land my first jewfish and gain some more experience with sharks even getting my first salmon would be nice.
  20. How far out will they be? I have tried a few time with no luck
  21. I used to get mine from woolies but it was $20 per a bag. Found a shop was $10 per a bag and the trawler was $15. Going to ask the local fish shop for their scraps when I get a chance
