  1. On YouTube there are a few more genuine options than the rubbish on free to air tv.
  2. Have you tried Windsor bait and tackle, Nevs fishing, Ricky D or Josh D fishing on YouTube? They are not professionally guided and have a somewhat organic presentation
  3. That’s what drove me away from Timmy Turtle
  4. $80 a kg for flattie…enough to make you cry
  5. Hi Raiders Ok things always change over time, fishing shows are no different whether on YouTube, streaming services or free to air tv. Some shows have improved while others have evolved and are not your cup of tea anymore. So what’s the show or YouTube channel that you don’t watch anymore? My contribution is Timmy the Turtle who has moved away from his early videos which chased fish in his local waterways towards a glossy well sponsored productions. It looks as though he has two channels now as well.
  6. Hi Raiders Chasing some information on rocky mouth Maclean. Is anyone from Maclean? Has anyone fished it recently? Tips and technique be greatly appreciated cheers Grant
  7. Ok that road and the camping area at Diggers is Clarence Valley Council not NPs. They look after Boorkoom. I know the spring your talking about it’s still there! Regards Grant
  8. Thanks 🙏 much appreciated. I will let you know what I get…could be two weeks away
  9. Thanks for the offer Derek, however I am in Grafton and fish mostly north coast NSW and Qld when on holidays. I have a Daiwa Tierra LT 2000 reel which I plan to use with the new rod. It blows my mind that such a light rod can handle Salmon or Kings in the harbour.
  10. Has anyone used the Wilson Blade and Tails?
  11. Going to have a look at these rods as well, thanks for the suggestion.
  12. I reckon this is a contender, perfect for bass in the summer as well. I am going to get a two piece this time as well, assume that doesn’t affect performance?
  13. Thanks Jon. I have to be honest here and admit that I have been historically been a little judgmental against travel rods. However you clearly have some runs on the board.
  14. Hi Raiders I have a gap in my arsenal. I currently have a Shimano raider 6ft, 1-3kg (3-8g lures) and a Pflueger Trion Native Specialist 7ft 3-6kg rods for spinning. The Pflueger is a good rod however is better suited to fishing hardbodies or metal lures. With its medium action and 3-6kg rating it is not a good rod for light lures or soft plastics. I see the future of this rod targeting Mangrove Jacks, Tailor, Salmon or Trevally. The Raider is a great rod, however it is very short (designed for kayaks). I am after a rod that I can: - Target surface whiting and bream - Easily walk the dog stick baits - Can throw slightly heavier lures than the raider (say upwards to 12g or 14g) - 7ft to improve casting distance - 2-4kg range Regards Grant
  15. Hi Albert I have never fished Sydney Harbour but two things stand out for me at this time of year. Firstly bream will be all through that area but secondly and for me a little more exciting would be luderick. Regards Grant
  16. G’Day Ron Which road are you talking about? You can still drive to Diggers and Boorkoom. Are you referring to the old beach access to Wilson’s? Thanks for your reply Regards Grant
  17. Hi Raiders Has anyone fished Diggers Camp and Boorkoom rock platforms? Looks like good water. Regards Grant
  18. I think they will be, it has been an odd season for them with good numbers only really coming on recently
  19. Unfortunately it is a cost of business. Although frustrating that I scouted the area with a cheap lure before hand. Snapper have been going off apparently around Woody Head not far off the stones.
  20. G’day I had the day off work today and decided to head out. Weather was sunny with gusty SE wind swinging to the SW by the end of the session. So not the best weather but when an opportunity presents you have to take it. Found a spot at the end of Shores drive out of the wind. Tactics were to fish deep and try my new samaki vibelicious and other blades/vibes. Got a few hits to start with but generally a quiet session with one bream landed after a few lure changes. Unfortunately lost a strikepro pigmy and a blade. Lovely old fella was smashing the blackfish on weed. cheers Grant
  21. G’day Raiders Has anyone caught or heard of Jew fish being caught at Grafton around the bridge? I would prefer to target them downstream at Yamba however if they are caught around the bridge that would be handy when time is at a premium. Cheers Grant
  22. Yeah I just did a search on the net and they were selling them at MoTackle years ago. My rod is 10ft, so at some stage this particular model must have a decent range. Hopefully this weekend I will give it a go.
  23. It’s a very rigid rod so will be interesting to see it’s action. What do you chase off the rocks?
  24. Hi Brains Trust Is anyone familiar with the old Shakespeare Sapphire Plus rod? I have one never used but thinking about using it to spin off the rocks. It has a 6-10kg rating, no other information is written on the rod. Cheers Grant
  25. Apologies if covered by other comments, however good Drummer and Luderick at Rocky Point and on the headlands immediately south of Fingal. Reminder to all 4wd to respect the beach and don’t drive through the fore dunes.
