  1. its one part number now days for the replacement. 1100 aud was the price from <name removed>. Guess i will have to eat it. thanks guys.
  2. i had a bit of a poke around with it and even tried zip ties top and bottom as shown below but it does not stem the flow when i prime the fuel. It appears to be to be coming out of that top manifold like section at the top. Has anyone seen these leak from here before and if yes, what was the root cause?
  3. Replacement OEM part is 1100$ , ouch. After market is 200 range and the same as the old design. New one is this setup <link removed> I am going to try and fix it first, see if i can find the leak source and plug it. $1100 isn't spare change.
  4. are genuine ones still available?
  5. Looking for some advice from the brains trusts here I have a 2012 etec 40 which has developed a fuel leak in the top of of the plastic housing of the fuel pump . I know its there just not sure exactly where as its black and my eyes aint great. What are my options here guys, do i pull it off and try and fix the leak or just replace the unit in full? if its safer to replace it, what after market brand is recommended? thanks in advance

    Storms

got drenched on the hawksbury today, it was worth it.
  7. Oath! Also keep in mind I only started fishing in December 2021. I am pleased with my progress and even more pleased with how much I get out of it. Not fish, enjoyment of being on the water and fishing in general. Results are starting to get consistent and more importantly I know why I am catching fish, its less luck now and more technique with the way I am targeting fish.
  8. I am not bummed, its a serious fish and she put up a heck of a fight. She deserved to get away and we deserved the beating. We wouldn't have kept her anyway, besides it wouldn't be right for bait boy to pick up a lizard like that on his first attempt with a soft plastic , she is saving herself for me on another trip and I get to heckle my buddy for years to come There is a chance I could have hooked her on sunday but like I said above, I did not want to stress her out. She showed me she was there and she is a beauty. It was such a magical afternoon, everything went so right and as I went solo, got to fully decompress from the week and just enjoy my time on the water exactly the way I like it. This may sound odd but I really enjoy fishing solo along the river. Its pretty clear to me now that I adore fishing light, fishing lures and just learning how to do it more effectively. I know I could have caught and released more fish that afternoon but I was already satisfied with my results and was getting tired. If I could change anything from sunday, i would have only kept the 45cm and let the 50cm go as i discovered last night that that one fish is a healthy feed for one person. The two of them would have fed 2-3 people. Rest easy though as I ate them both over the past two days
  9. headed out with a mate on saturday with him wanting to teach me how to fish with bait and me wanting to show him what can be done with lures. My mate always goes on about how if you want to catch big fish you need to use bait, he is , well was, anti SP up until he went out with me on saturday. Started out a bit slow with me pulling in a 40cm dusky, followed by him pulling in a 38cm both using SP's. An hour went by with no bites as we worked our way around the shore when I decided to take a break from up front and sit down to have something to eat. My bud jumped up front and started working the bank i had been on when all of a sudden his reel started screaming as line peeled off at a record pace. The fish went straight for a big 60 foot cruiser moored in the sun, so i grabbed the remote and started to move the boat around so he could get it into the clear to land it. This fish just kept pulling like nothing I have seen before and it headed out into the open bay with us trying to guide it to where we wanted it. After a while the fish wised up and and made a run back for the big boat, it got there in the end then paused a minute or so, then made another break back towards the shore. My fishing bud is a experienced fisho where as I am far from it so he was doing a good job trying to control it but the beast was just so bloody strong. Eventually it got back to the shore and his line snapped when it got run up agains the oysters....oh man what a thrill.... we sat there laughing and he was catching his breath. We examined his line and sure enough the braid was cut ( he swears it was 10lb but i suspect it was much heavier lol). As we sat there theorising what it was, he said a rouge king and i said a monster flatty , shame we would never know right? Once we settled about 20 minutes and a sandwich later , we started casting again around the same area when i pulled a cast i noticed i has picked up what looked looked like someones snag and i stared at it thinking " there is no way that can be his line" I looked at it a while longer and sung out to him " is that your line? " he looked over and was in disbelief and motioned to me to guide the boat over with the troll which I did ever so slowly. My buddy then asked me if I had gloves, which I did so he put them on and started to slowly winding the line onto his hand. When he got the line to a point could pull on whatever was on the end there was an almighty explosion in front of us and this monster lizard erupted from the water in a rage and then it was gone, sheered the leader on this time. Now I know you fellas are all prone to telling porkies about the ones that got away but I swear this fish had to be close to a meter long, it was massive ! We didnt get much action after that so we headed on out to flint and steel to try out luck with bait and jews. Sadly we did not get any jews nor did we catch anything on the fresh bait he swore by but a boat new us was reeling in hairtail with seemingly no effort. They had some sort of lighting on their rigs which seemed to be doing the trick. Sorry lads but the bait lost out on the day and my poor old buddy went home that night, forced to reconsider his position on what plastics can do with big fish lol. I got home about 10pm saturday night and was knackered after 11 hours of fishing. Way too tired to clean the boat and to sore to attempt it. Such a wonderful sleep that night. next day woke up with a smile on my face thinking about the days events and endless laughter. I gave him a bit of a hiding over losing that fish and the bait vs plastics lashing he had been giving me for some months now. After a late breakfast I went and cleaned the boat out, cleaned my gear off and when i went back out side around 11am I realised what a cracking day it was so against my desire to do house work and work work ( not) i decided to sneak the boat back out and so some solo casting. being the tide was so good with the full moon, I went back to the same place we got beaten up at. First fish i pulled in was a 40cm, 20 minutes later i pulled in another which measured 45cm....kept at it another 20 or so and pulled in a small grunting trev who wasnt happy about being hooked so let him on his way. Kept casting further into the area i was in and landed a healthy 50cm. I had already decided earlier on I was going to catch me dinner that day so had the 45cm in the bait tank and lobbed the 50cm in there i was. I was feeling pretty good by this point, perfect day, flawless fish and just loving life. Motored further around to where we got done the day before and had a few casts while i thought about the events of the day before....sitting there casting, smiling like an idiot to the memories when to my right i saw something big in the water hashing a bit of a splash in the shallows and it was that bloody big girl that reefed my buddy the day before, same spot had to be the same bloody fish. I did consider having a cast for her then thought to myself she didnt need more stress after yesterday so left her be. Got back yesterday around 4.30, feet were killing me as back to back days of fishing with lures on the wrong side of 40 is not easy work as you fellas well know. Got the boat cleaned properly and got the gear out to clean it up thinking to myself I am not going to be able to make dinner as i was starting to limp quite badly ( war injuries) so had my mind moving onto time in the hot tub with some pain meds. It was then i heard my phone buzz from a msg, it was my neighbours asking if i wanted to come over for dinner. Just when I thought my weekend couldnt get any better. Picked up a bunch of flatties on both days with the highlight being my my buddy getting beaten up by the big lizard , my teasing the heck out of him about how you only get big fish with bait, if he wanted lessons on how to land fish and the 50cm I bought home for dinner. I served it up with a nice kale salad tonight. Well thats my report, hope you enjoy the read
  10. As the title says, I am looking to try my hand with some fresh bait rigs tomorrow and will be fishing the hawksbury river between bar point and the heads. Up until now all I have fished with are lures, so i have no idea where to find live bait around here. is anyone will to share areas I can try and get some squid or yakas? A mate is bringing some fresh bait with him so we are covered but i still want to try and do it myself so I learn properly. Tomorrow is my first attempt at chasing jews, wish me luck thanks in advance
  11. I am getting good results with Broad PE, Varivas, Daiwa J Brand (Grand) for braid. For fluro I am really liking FC Rock by Sunline and Varivas.
  12. This is right up your alley https://products.samurairods.com.au/products/category/CDCAYPNA-rod-by-series/FIN-10-M69--infinite Moes had them on special for under $600 recently. Very good rods, delicate yet has power. Extra light and very high quality. I have two Samurai Reaction, 1-3kg and 2-5kg. I love them both which are paired with Daiwa Certate reels ( 2500HX and 3000XH). Samurai for me, are only bested by Zenaq so far which is another level up in quality and price. Hope this helps and you enjoy your new reel with many catches and hundreds of hours fishing.
  13. I am keen if you are sane, well mostly sane. PM me to see if we can make schedules work.
  14. It fixed my echo screen issues today after some trial and error. No more lines down the screen!!!!!! First thing I did was disable down scan overlay in the echo screen because trying to trouble shoot two screen feeds at the same time is the devils work. then adjusted my gain so i was seeing the correct data on the screen, using manual settings. I also backed off TVG by 1. Gain for me using an 3 in 1 transducer needed to be around 72-77 depending on the depth I was in. Once that was dialled in, I turned down scan overlay back on and the data feed is crystal clear. Total game changer for me. hope this helps the OP and anyone else struggling to dial their simrad unit in
  15. I fish the hawksbury river and up around broken bay area. Happy to take you out if you want to flick some lures with me.
  16. Here is part one of another series I started watching
  17. This might help tune your setup. I think I have an issue with mine alone the same lines. I have not tried this yet as I only just found it while looking for tuning help. TVG and Gain are what I will be adjusting when I need hit the water.
  18. Sounds like something was faulty with the original evo3 range if you got multiple issues across multiple devices. This may also explain why they came out with the evo3s so quickly. The unit I got is using a 3 in 1 Lowrance transducer and I am still tweaking settings to give me clear pictures with downscan or sonar ( one of the two is not tuned right yet) side scan is unbelievably clear though and I love how fast the unit is to response to my commands compared to the old lowrance 7ti elite the boat had previously. Thank you for sharing the real world feedback with me, I am still very much a novice and stumbling my way through this wonderful world of fishing in 2022.
  19. What makes the garmin so much better? Asking as I just bought a evo3s myself.
  20. Thank you Even though i was laughing at the time,I felt a bit sick as its by far my favourite rod/reel combo. All my biggest catches have been on that setup. Its very sentimental to me. Totally ! thanks for the kind words. Thanks Pickles, if anyone would know what a great bream looked like I am pretty sure it would be you. I hope to go fishing with you lads one of these days. I am trying to be a great uncle to him and teach him all the skills i wish I had been tough as a kid. Its really hard for me not to spoil him with gifts and have the means to now days. However I have adopted the approach of teaching him everything I wish I had been taught instead of giving him things I wish i had as a kid. I think this is a far wiser approach to being a good uncle and role model. His parents are doing it the other way and I do not approve of it but what would I know. They are doing their best and it takes a village to raise a child. This I better understand now I am much older and wiser. Thank you GH, he was a beast for sure. its actually the first fish I felt worthy enough to share on here with you lads. Thank you Squidless, its totally going to be a cherished memory for me and hopefully him as well. Catching the fish alone is a big deal for me but sharing the moment with my nephew is priceless. Then losing and finding my rod, hah, you cant make this sort of story up. So good! i love fishing so much! He is a natural angler, there can be no doubt there ! Thanks Fab Cheers Rebel
  21. I am not against eating what I catch, my rule is simply do not take it if I am not going to eat it. I love the ocean, its very precious to me. Catching that fish with my nephew made it a very special occasion for me. Still smiling as I type this reply. I love lure fishing, its so very rewarding plus i get to poke fun at people who use bait 😜
  22. took my nephew out in the boat on the weekend , after many delays of us getting together. He is 12 and wants me to teach him how to fish properly. I helped him get his first fish 2 years ago up the north coast and he was instantly hooked. Trouble is the kid thinks I know everything but i really don't so over the past 8 months I have gone hard into learning to fish for bread and butter so i can teach him properly and not look the uncle fool. One boat, 8 rods, 100s of hours of youtube, forum reading , endless trips learning to cast lures, know the tides, the moon, the spots, the currents, how to tie lines, how to tie f'n fg's. I went in deep because why not! Anyways, I have been having good success this past 4 or 5 months, getting as many as 7 or 8 fish on a trip out but nothing over 30cm for bream and biggest flatty was 56cm . Lots of fun of course and learning heaps. Always lures, never bait. All catch and release because I wont take them unless i intend to eat them. To cut a long story short, we did get out saturday and he was fishing bait and I was fishing plastics on the river and I took him to one of my spots and landed this donkey. When i asked the little man if we should let it go or bbq it, he voted for the bbq so later on I showed him how to dispatch the fish, scale it , gut it and fillet it then cook it. We served him up with salad. I feel a bit bad for the fish as I didnt want to eat him as he was so beautiful but the little man wanted bbq so Mr Breams fate was sealed on the words of a 12 year old. Later on in the session I actually tripped over and my favourite rod went over board ( Samurai rod with Certate 2500XH wah!). I was glad i wasnt hurt and was laughing, I quickly marked the spot on the sounder thinking i would need to come back with a snorkle and mask to retrieve my baby but my little ripper of a nephew fished it out using his rod I got him for Christmas last year. He kept casting in the direction the rod went in until he snagged the line. What a champion he is. God i love him so much. To date this is the biggest bream I have landed. Had me running around the boat, took lots of line and tried everything he could to get away but i was patient and showed my little nephew how to land a decent fish on a light setup ( 1-3kg rod, 10lb braid, 8lb leader, 2.5inch grub...motor oil of course). Fished it out from under a fallen tree on the bank.
  23. nice fish there mate. Hawksbury river sadly still looks like chocolate milk and its loaded with debris. It will take at least a few weeks to recover. Further up at the Entrance is as bad if not worse.
