  1. This news is definitely a move in the right direction. Thanks for sharing the update.
  2. Guys/Gals I am possibly in the market for a new fish finder as my lowrance is playing up and getting long in the tooth ( elite Ti). Are there any retail stores that have them out on display and connected up so you can explore the user interfaces and see how they work? Tried checking out the stuff at Whitworths (Crowsnest) but they had them in boxes behind glass. All suggestions welcome
  3. Ended up getting it serviced locally, got an itemised invoice and had some other work done at the same time ( new fuse box install). Service ran me around 480$ including parts. Ran it the past 3 days around Brisbane waters, boat ran fine. Thanks for all the help.
  4. You are spot on, we only got bream in the shallows and they wear healthy specimens in their 30's. Sorry no pics, we let them all go. Not a single flattie. Lures only.
  5. In just got back from a few days in woy woy and noticed we could not get the bream to bite in the morning (sunrise) yet we got bream action in the evening (sunset and early evening) with the the run up to high tide.... In the mornings only the taylor were biting ...us off...
  6. Would you mind sending me their contact details via private message?
  7. If you google the company, it shows up as closed permanently Please correct me if I am wrong or let them know to fix their google listing online
  8. Frank you raise good points as always. I was trying to avoid the long drive due to time constraints at the moment. argh.
  9. I spoke to a shop today and he read out about 10 things that needed to be done, I did not check it against the manual steps which I have a copy8 of but he clearly knew what he was talking about. The owner went as far as saying all parts needed to be ordered in advance before a service booking can be done which is a good sign to me as items like the impeller need to be replaced. Huett very sadly has shut its doors for good, I tried them first on another members recommendation
  10. Hi Guys I have a etec 40hp (2012 model) which is running fine. It came with a recent purchase of a boat and I am wondering what sort of costs i should expect when i take it for a service. Is anyone willing to throw some numbers out there including parts as a total projected cost ? Motor is running fine as far as i can tell, I intend to get it serviced shortly so i know when it was done and ensure that its good to fish for another 6-12 months. thanks in advance.
  11. what a cracking fish, congrats on landing her and sending her on her way. A true sportsman !
  12. healthy little fealls, nice work
  13. congrats on the first lure fish. its a fantastic feeling !
  14. Took your advice today and got the boat out at lunch time, after kicking work to the side for some well being time on my self. Fished at some usual spots and got a few got hits but no hookups. Got bored so headed out to Broken Bay and fished off the island out that way (Lion Island?) . Hooked a massive something , probably a ray, that i fought for 20 plus minutes. It ended up bending the hooks on my vibe and got off before i could identify it, I was so so close to getting it up as I only wound in a few meters when the vibe finally let go. I cant post the video I shared with my mates of the action as it has some animated language in it that may breach the rules here Was using a 2-5kg rob with a Daiwa 2500 and 10lb braid with 20lb leader. Such a good fight, body still aches from it as I type this reply . First time I have tried using vibes, got a Cod ( of course) and whatever the big thing was. I understand now why people invest in quality hooks for their lures!
  15. I only work to recover from my weekends so rest assured I am doing alright
  16. I hear you loud and clear, just a bit short staffed at the moment due to the current climate. I do get out a long the river most days to walk my dog, that coupled with other activities enables me to take better care of myself. By the way, there are fish here just not in the heavily fished spots. The locals know where they are and are protective of these spots. I understand why now and have become the same. For the record, I don't eat what I catch, I just like getting out on the water. I love the water and always have. My fishing consists of me catching then releasing them. As we all know on here fishing is a wonderful way to forget about work and other stuff in life that can weigh us down if we let it.
  17. I moved here a year ago and love it, i am never moving back into Sydney willingly. Drop me a PM and i am sure we can line up some line time in the near future.
  18. I am sure we will cross paths at some point Pickles, week days are a bit hard for me as I am self employed and work load is very heavy for me the past few years. Its a shame because I live right on the river yet struggle to get time on it even now with a boat. Most days after work I just don't have the drive to get out there after I finally finish calls for the day at 6 or 7pm.
  19. It depends on the weather if I head out to broken bay, boat is a 4.2 meter Quintrix Renegade SC and Broken Bay can be nasty in certain conditions. I have only been out 3 or 4 times so far and each time I have landed Bream and Flatties. Largest so far was last trip and came in at 52cm lizzard. There are lots of fish here now the river has recovered from the recent flooding. Not even sure how to use my Lowrance fish finder to be candid let alone mark spots with it. I know it works and I am learning as I go. What I do know is the knowledge I have picked up is getting me fish, not massive ones but they are getting bigger and more frequent. Much more frequent then when i fished from land.
  20. I am throwing a post up here in case anyone wants to come fishing this Saturday around the Hawksbury river area. I am pretty new to fishing, new to the forum and getting better at it with regular positive sessions thanks to the info on here and on youtube. Recently I acquired a boat and now feel comfortable enough to have someone else on it with me but all my mates are busy this weekend. Its an inshore boat not an off shore boat. I fish light tackle and do it for fun and to stay sane. To date I have been taking my dog out but she is a not a very good fishing buddy to be candid. She keeps jumping in the water to chase the fish or barking all the time , its a real problem I am yet to deal with effectively. She does it from land as well but i digress.... So if anyone is interested in coming for a cast Saturday in the run up to the high tide, reply here or send me a PM. No payment is required or expected just looking for someone to fish with but be warned, if you are any good at catching fish I will be taking mental notes on your techniques I am located in Brooklyn so will be launching from the ruins.
  21. Good to know and nice haul. I just booked a place up there for the June long weekend and looking forward to dropping a line in up there.

    Members Boats.

Hi Frank Yes it came with a minn Koa something with ipilot. 55lb model. I still need to get an under standing of how the previous owner wired things up. I do know the troll motor has its own battery up front but i am unsure if he has other things wired into it. Troll motor worked fine during the water test. Came with remote and manual so I should work it out pretty easily. Seller did say it was not connected to the Lowrance when I asked about that. Lowrance is an Elite 7TI. Boat also has under floor tank which is something i wanted as well as a bimini ( which i have taken off for now along with a rear ladder, cover etc...

    Members Boats.

Started fishing in late December with SP from shore and realised pretty quick I needed to get a boat to make it more enjoyable so I picked this up last week to help me get to nirvana Never owned a boat before but do have 500+ hours experience with other water craft so its not totally new to me. Boat shown is not my actual boat however its close to identical. Mine came with a 40hp Etech on it and Lowrance fish finder/gps and overall the boat is in excellent condition which was a big requirement for me. I am pretty darn excited and hope to be on the water this weekend rail hail or shine! Got a pretty cracking deal on facebook of all places after months of looking, old owner had a new boat about to be delivered and just needed the renegade gone

    GPS tracking

There are lots of industrial style devices for GPS tracking used for asset and fleet management that might be worth a look. They tend to be ruggedized and lend themselves to being hardwired. Management is via one cloud portal or another. Telemetry tracking has become a bit of a big deal this past ten years so options are quite wide spread now days. here is an example Satellite Asset Tracker (fleetminder.com.au)
  25. I dont know for sure but probably invested around $300-350 getting myself setup for SP fishing including my Samaki jig head box. Its a relatively cheap hobby for me when compared to others I pursue and my ROI so far is astronomical
