  1. definatly hawthorne canal. That spot produces som Great flatties and some even better bream. I tend to release EVERY fish I catch from that area.
  2. I can second that for sure. Love the smile!
  3. Mate!!!! Welcome... With a fish like that!! More details please.
  4. Thats what its all about! what a top report and those big fellas would have gone like crazy.. Very Solid!!!!
  5. Nice report. +3 on the scotty holder. Just take it off so your not even tempted to use it. I have had fixed plastic rod holders snap downrigging luckly didnt loose the outfit. Use nothing but strong heavy duty stainless.
  6. mate a first boat is usually all about learning the ropes. Budget is usually what it will come down to but in all honesty a good reliable motor is high on the wish list. Ally is also good for a beginner as you can bump into stuff and not worry to much as also if its older well it will always have battle scars and you wont be as worried if you scratch it. It just blends in with the rest.
  7. Good stuff there Byron, Definatly one of the characters on this site. Keep them coming..
  8. great work out there to find a fish on 65!!!! Was a Great day to be out!!!! I fished basically the whole harbour for nothing but rats again. Smallest king i have ever seen, 40cm....???? Saw the fish stuck on Quarantine maker still there swiming at 1200. bad luck on the bust off. Hope to see many more to come soon. BTW i saw a school of 1 meter + kings roaming where i was squidding in about 16 foot of water. Put a squid bait down and they swam around it.. WTF????????
  9. You gota love that park. I have been going down there since i can rember with the family and now on my own and with mates. There is some ausome fishing to be had on the island. You name it its there, Jews, kings, snapper, BIG groper, Huge salmon and have even landed a 80cm+ taylor from the rocks there. Well done on the flatty. Vince
  10. Mate, i have downrigged a white sluggo unweighted. It did work but wouldnt bother doing it unless your completly out of bait.
  11. You have it susssed. Top effort again.
  12. Wacko, Mate i was hanging for one of those Unstopable modles, Not one in sight for me. well done on the runner. I have heard there have been a few in the harbour this season.
  13. cflife, hehehe i dont mind getting around quick thats for sure. Cant have that much fun on the roads anymore... Mate if i had 30 squid i would have had 30 kings, they were thick as theivs. I towed a yakka around for some stupid reason, i cant catch kings with yakkas......
  14. Jim, mate they are everwhere at the moment. Picked them up on the markers and the ususal haunts. I will note that water temp today was just over 18 deg... Bit cold for this time of the year.
  15. Cheers guys, It was a pity to loose a solid squid to an average king. At least i got to eat him though.. Steve, Nah only put it out once and only put a lolly pop squid strip on and it was mauled in about 30 seconds by the little baby king.. was a laugh though!!!!!! Bream rod on a downrigger, 2 funny!!!
  16. Cheers swordie. I thought it looked odd sitting there parked up. Hope it is all good. It looked like it was all in one piece when i saw it but mind you the only reason i even noticed it was cause of the name.. Keep us posted. From memory the guy that was parked up next to it was in a new ute with a "body" on the back with draws etc like a trady aircon guys ute... if you know what i mean..
  17. Mate, Your boat was down at Rose bay ramp this morning and even still there when i left at 11am. There was a guy there early in the morning "working" on it. I rember seeing it and even chuckled on the name.. Hope its still there. I rember it had the canopy up with rocket launchers, engines had covers on.
  18. Put in at rose bay solo this morning at 600. Caught just enough squid to get a heap of kings, Landed 8 fish, droped a few more and amoungst them only 1 keeper at 73 cm. This fish took a live squid about half his size. I was hoping for a big big king on this bait, Oh well. Next time. I did end up getting one fish to the boat on my Breambuster rod and 6lb briad. Very fun but the king was only 50cm. Quick pic of the keeper. 2nd time out in the boat since i had it back from service from Huey, And i must say that he has got my little etec puring. Got my downrigging speed at idol down to about 2.8k/h .. sooo much slower than before. And with the permatrim on there now the boat is feeling great! If only i didnt want to fish out wide so badly i would so consider keeping this boat. Decisions decisions...
  19. another TOP SHELF result!!! Well done again
